I think the return of the upside-down split lift position from the wilderness should be a moment for us all to reflect on why it was banned: that early-2000s, early-IJS period, when the rules accidentally mandated that an upside-down split was the only way to get a level 4, and they were EVERYWHERE. Traumatising the heck out of us all. One version was called the "sniff lift" for awful and obvious reasons. Banned the following year.

Ice dance has its issues today, but could, and has been, worse!

He Taschler looks very annoyed by those scores. FWIW, I was told in side chat after questioning where his 🍑 social media pic went that the Czech Fed were not too pleased with it. Screw them.
Paul’s jacket is quite nice. McQueen did a series of blazers and evening wear recently that featured similar cutouts.
Exactly my point!

I'd rather see a redux #24 of their classical Chopin-esque free dances than this

But having said that, the diagonal step actually fit the music quite nearly perfectly. I can't knock any of this choreography, I just don't think their skating, their attack, or their posture really sells this style of music.

ETA- everything from the diagonal step on was really enjoyable.

Put them back on the Euro podium, certainly better than R/A.

The Browns were never in the mix. I was so unconcerned about them being a factor I was more interested in responding to the discussions about Emilea's lack of star power and Paul's ugly-ass costume.
I disagree. Even though I like Z/K better (obvs), I also recognize that the Browns are stronger skaters, and their RD is cute as a button and objectively better than Z/K. I think if the Browns put together two clean programs back to back, they'd be in the hunt, especially with GreenP on a downward trajectory :wuzrobbed

They're good, they do all the right moves, the spins are wow, especially rotational to stationary, but it's no tango.

LOL at mark mentioning the strength in her back "...and glutes" on replay.

GreenP are on their way back up if their NHK score is an indication. Others who were at the SCI practices noted that the Browns skate a lot smaller and don't fill the arena the same way the rest of the top US teams do - and you can see it on some of their elements. It's kind of hard to not notice now, TBH, and I can see why they're not getting the same scores.

I reject FearGib - their music just woke up Bandit, who was sleeping on the ottoman, undisturbed by skating at this hour.
