Meh, I with they'd started Men a half hour later so I could have slept in until 5:30.

But now I will make scones for the women's comp. Or possibly take a nap :shuffle:

Looking ahead to the free, Tomono isn't really in GPF consideration and Yamamoto would only likely (potentially) be in there with a silver medal. Aymoz can finish 4th with a Japanese sweep and still make the Final.

Cha needs to get into the top 3 if Aymoz is 5th or lower, and Grassl needs at least 4th to be still in the picture.

Well, this sp event wasn't nearly as well-skated as I was hoping for but c'est la vie. Exception, of course, being Yuma. He is just SO smooooth. I think he should have scored 3-4 more points for that program. I thought Yuma, his dad and Carolina looked a tad disappointed with the score in the K/C. Taking nothing away from Ilia here .... he's a phenom but I think I actually enjoy watching Yuma's skating more. Ilia's jumps are so exciting but Yuma's got such flow. Different strokes for different folks, I guess. See you all in a bit for the women.

Kagiyama - no words. on a whole nother level than anyone else.
Tomono - so cute and good jumps.
Aymoz - WTF lutz but good otherwise. this program doesn't quite draw you in like some of his others.
Yamamoto - kind of a heavy, dour skater. solid but journeyman.
Britschgi - another journeyman. bleh program.
Grassl - dunno how he keeps getting away with murder on those cheated quads. really don't want to see him in the final.
Cha - unfair call on the loop, should have been a q which would have kept him in the final group and edged out Grassl.
Selveko - pretty. nice charisma. horrible costume.
Samoilov - was just kinda there.
Pulkinen - seems like he's more of a recreational skater now. sadly seems to have squandered away any chance at the Olympics next year but good for him for balancing a demanding career with skating.
Suntsev - boring
Virtanen - good for him for doing doctor stuff and skating

So the two skaters I need to qualify so I can watch in person next month at the GPF are Kevin and Yuma. So far I am feeling hopeful.

I had to leave right after Kevin skated to go to my "annual" with my GP. I paused the stream and have now caught up and am moving to the 2nd group of women who just warmed up.

I actually preferred Yuma last week to this performance, but have no argument with him being FAR and away above everyone else. He just seemed more emotive last week, this week a bit back to "getting it done and in control" until he can let loose. Also that amazing audience last week and the better overall competition probably helped press that score up at home.

Tomono was awesome too, but he had a hot start in France and got betrayed by his injuries there, so I'll wait and see. Still it just one of two clean SPs so.... sigh.

Aymoz: What a bizarre error. After his epic meltdowns last season, it's good to see him finding his way back. Let's hope it can continue, as that was painful to watch. He didn't seem bothered by the mistake, so that's a good sign.... yes? Please? Kumbayba? :p

I really like both Britshgi "woke" and Selevko's sulty SP's. Hopefully they overcome their injuries and can skate these cleanly for Euros and/or Worlds.

Grassl's generous +GOE are a mystery to me. He does hit some nice positions, but they are gone in less than an instant, and he seemed to escape "Q" and "UR" calls somehow yet again.

I don't remember seeing Samoilov before, though I see he's been at Worlds the last two years so I guess I have... :shuffle: Luckily for him he isn't good enough yet to be sucked into ANL's harem. :p

Camden: Oh dear.... At least the peaches look fresh. :saint:

Soooo much skating to watch and I’m so far behind trying to watch both sectionals and GP. Good distraction though from post-election stress reaction :p :drama:

Camden. OMG he continues to really hurt his reputation. I guess he thought with the lack of training he could still pull it off. But I kind of think he should have withdrawn from the Grand Prix. But hindsight is always 20/20.

Selevko. Really love his skating. So sorry to see such a bad meltdown again :fragile:

Grassl….uggh! And another major overscore. And did he switch back to White Crow??? Thought he did rock type music for his short at the last Grand Prix. He is too awkward and gawky stylistically to carry off anything like classical ballet music. And his jumps look so wonky in slo mo for the GOE he is awarded. Judges are making me scratch my head in both GP’s. Listen to what Adam and Ashley had to say about Grassl after NHK. ITA with them!

Cha wuzrobbed  He is so much more quality than Grassl and jump technique so much better. I don’t get the under on the loop but that jump combo is very risky for that reason. I really enjoy Cha. Always stylish and energetic while maintaining quality and posture/line. Not sure this music really helps him compared to some of his other amazing shorts.

Aymoz. Love him as always, especially when he isn’t a wreck in the K&C :D

Tomono. Just have never been a fan. I find his presentation too hammy or cheesy. But I’m happy for his fans that he did a good program here.

Kagiyama. Excellent and amazing. It still doesn’t move me emotionally or artistically. But I can see how his seamless skating technique is art too.

Bristschgi. Also not much of a fan. His consistency has been his strength and his injury has impacted that. He has solid all around technique though not memorable for me.

Kevin’s SP is a tribute to Loena’s dance party programs. Kazuki’s top looks a piñata vomited all over it. Sota had some beautiful moments. Will watch the rest later.
