Glamour Puss thread: Sephora, I wish I could quit you...

I’m halfway through Bridgerton Season 3 Part 1 and noticing many of the main characters (Penelope, Eloise, Violet, Mrs. Featherington) are wearing a very bronze eyeshadow.

Pat McGrath is usually involved with the makeup of this show.

Are we heading towards a bronzey eye look this season?

I hope so. I love a bronze eye look.

This my “go to” look. :encore: :cheer2:

The look used in the show is even more bronze than I usually do though.

I may have to step it up and break out my Pat McGrath mini palette with the bronze eyeshadow in it. :lol:
 
Went in person to buy the Fenty Amplifying eye primer and it’s essentially a dry and sticky almost transparent film. I had trouble applying my crease eyeshadow but I’m never great at it. I have old hooded eyelids and it’s always a crapshoot but should be fine for people who really know what they’re doing.

It does really seem to “amplify” the colours though.

Stay tuned to find out how long my eye makeup will last but it’s promising.

I bought the About Face eye primer.

I don’t usually use eye primer but wanted something to help my eyeshadow last better.

I discovered it doesn’t work under stick eyeshadow as the colour won’t lay down at all from the stick to the eye on top of the primer. :lol:

No biggie as sticks are usually formulated to be long lasting anyway.

I’ll report back here how well it works with powder which is why I originally purchased it.

Interesting and they don’t use the chemicals I’m allergic to so - win! But I checked and they’re only available in a location that I have called “the corner of Death & Despair” for many years and I can’t tell from the pictures which ones are metallic or matte. I would be game to go on a weekend but would then miss the seniors rebate…

But it is also close to a big liquor store that holds my favourite tequila….

Decisions, decisions. :lol:

I’ve ordered stuff online using the Shoppers Drug Mart app and they send it via Canada Post if that is a better option for you.

They should say on the app which is matte vs metallic.

I’ve only ordered once from them and just like Sephora, they moved to smaller carriers and it means I need to wait at home for it.

I’ll check and see if I can chose CP because it’s so convenient, as well as found out if online orders include the seniors rebate.

Yes, I’m cheap in my beauty products overspending. :D
 
I need to replace ALL of my eye stuff and Googled the Sephora Fall 2024 dates. Sephora brand and Rouge start November 1st. VIB is November 5th. Get your Christmas lists ready!
 
I set my alarm for 6 so that I could hit the Sephora servers before they ran out of everything. Since I had to replace ALL of my eye stuff, I was happy to find everything I needed. One order down and I'll repeat the process on Tuesday when the non Sephora brands are available for VIB.

I'm no longer Rouge so have to wait for tomorrow.

I probably won't have a big order....just moisturizer and brow gel.
 
2nd order placed. In case you need to know, it’s really expensive to replace EVERYTHING. But I won’t need anything other than foundation for a while.

And if you’re looking for sale blenders or brushes… everything’s gone.
 
Not Sephora, but I just ordered one of the Laura Geller value kits that are on sale. I dont wear much makeup, but tried and like their baked balance & brightener powder and thought I'd try a few other products. I was also inspired by @Aceon6 and threw out a bunch of crap that I've kept for far, far too long, but since I don't wear much these days, replacing it shouldn't be an issue. Fingers crossed!

I've seen ads for the Laura Geller stuff in Candy Crush Saga. It seemed too good to be true. But it sounds like you like it. How is the coverage and how well does it match your skin tones?

I also need to replace a bunch of stuff. I haven't worn makeup in years though and am not sure I will use it on the cruise. But if I want to, I need new everything except maybe eyeshadow. Is Sephora having a Black Friday sale?
 
@MacMadame - You can add as much coverage as you'd like. I brush it on and then do a quick wipe-over with a dry washcloth and that is enough for most casual outings. The LG powders bounce light in a very nice way, giving a brightening look that I've not found in other products. I don't notice a difference in my wrinkles - the LG powders are not drying and they don't exaggerate wrinkles, but don't really eliminate them either. It is all about the light bounce that makes a difference to me. I started with the "fair" powder, but ended up using "porcelain" because it brightens better.
 
Note - the Laura Geller products don't have a sunscreen in them, so use one under the powder.
 
I got my first purchase (just the baked balance brightener) on Amazon. I ordered the value kit (on sale) with some eye stuff and cheek color on the Laura Geller website.

I checked again - the label of my product is baked balance glow.

I found the Laura Geller site and got two coupons. Then I went through my makeup and realized that I really only need foundation. My other stuff is fine. So I may redo my order (it's just sitting in my cart waiting for input from you guys).

How well does their other stuff work? I need eyeliner, brow stuff, and lip liner as well because I don't have those anymore for some reason.
 
I hope you like the powder foundation as much as I do. I'm looking forward to trying the other products i just ordered, but I usually wear only the powder, some Blistex on my lips and I curl my lashes. Under the powder I'll wear either a BB tinted moisturizer with sunscreen (Cover Girl Smoothers) or just a full strength (spf 50) sunscreen. That's why I'm not in the Sephora thread much.

Now that DH's vision improved so much after his cataract surgery, I may want to step up my game a bit and create a "going out" look in addition to my "grocery store" look. We don't wear much makeup here in Idaho.
 
@MacMadame Not sure what you prefer for brows, but the Sephora Insta-Brow Waxy Brow Pencil works great for quick brows. For “must look tiffed”, I use the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Powder Duo and the ABH Brow Wiz pencil. For everything, I get the best results ordering at least two shades lighter than my natural hair, so I’m taupe right now.

I don't wear it at all. I used to wear it for special occasions but over time I just didn't want to so I didn't. I think most of my issues are with foundation. I've only used liquid/cream and my last purchase wasn't exactly the right color for my skin and it was thicker than I wanted too.

I'm looking forward to trying a powder foundation.

On a different note, has the trend turned to using neutral colors for eyelids? I have a way to put it on that requires 3 colors but I see that the Laura Geller site is selling stuff for 4 colors and that most of them are the colors of foundation and blush with a small amount of blue/dark purple and not things like green, pink, etc.

I really like a powder and I've found that hard to find. It's mostly pencils. I will look up the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Powder Duo.

Neutrals have always been popular, especially among us older gals.

But after several seasons of pink/red/purple shades of eyeshadow it's coming on even stronger now.

Apparently the young'uns don't wear much eyeshadow (preferring a 'clean girl' look) so brands are trying to appeal to them with the neutrals.

And it’s frustrating for me as I’ve always done better with color and am reactive to anything with red pigment. I got a nice Sephora Collection palette that has khaki and army green in it, but I’ve struck out on other non neutral options. I’m resigned to picking up a gray blue single.
 
The Sephora Sale is happening until April 14th.

I only bought two things:

NARS Light Reflecting Foundation - I needed a new foundation badly and found a great shade match with the NARS.

NARS Hot Escape Cheek Palette - Totally didn't need this but have had my eye on it for over a month and got it on sale.

Order to be delivered Friday.
 
I ordered way too much, but I needed Dr. Gross as well as replacement foundations. I have to go back and do a delivery order for the few things they didn’t have at the store.
