I had always been curious whether people perceived colors differently and puzzled by people who said that turquoise was a shade of green.

I wish they had this for green and yellow. One of my best friends and I have had endless debates over whether lime green colors are green or yellow. I'm always saying things are green, and friend yellow.
 
My boundary hue is at hue 165, greener than 92% of the population. I admit that when on the fence of whether the hue was blue or green, I would lean to blue. My childhood family had color arguments all the time. Our earliest family car I can remember, my mother, sister and I all called blue, but my father insisted it was green.

So based on your post I tested each:

Both eyes: Your boundary is at hue 178, bluer than 80% of the population. For you, turquoise is green.

Left eye: Your boundary is at hue 173, greener than 57% of the population. For you, turquoise is blue.
Right eye: Your boundary is at hue 175, bluer than 59% of the population. For you, turquoise is green.

I also got 174.

ETA: Tried each eye separately. I got:
Right eye aka my good eye = 173
Left eye = 172

Tried again with both eyes and got 174 again.

The first car I had was aqua blue, and this was how I perceived it to be. I saw some green in the color, but I mainly saw the blue color.

Honestly, some of those I would have said were a blend of both and I had a hard time choosing blue or green. For me, turquoise is both green and blue.

Must be from writing that paper on the Sapir-Whorf Hypothesis all those years ago.

When I think of turquoise, I think of the color of the two outermost stones on either side in this photograph: clearly blue, at least to me. Using a search engine, however, I found this webpage, which purports to identify "50+ Shades of Turquoise," including alpine green, which doesn't look like any turquoise stone I have ever seen.

My boundary is 171. Turquoise is blue for me. When I have more time, I'll check out the boundary & percentage for each eye.

Yes, I had troubles at the end when the color was clearly not green or blue but turquoise. Nonetheless I’m at 173, greener than 62%.

I'm 175, with Turquoise being green -- at least specific value the test uses as turquoise. Did my childhood big box of crayons have a turquoise?

My husband and I have an ongoing 'discussion' of the color of our towels. They are dark gray (called gun metal gray by the maker) -- he says they are green. It's fun when we have to agree on a paint color -- not! We are going to replace the windows in our house and will need to repaint the outside since we anticipate there will be some repair needed to the stucco. (and we we both hate the current color) We are no where near agreeing -- not sure which is stronger -- color perception differences or how stubborn each is. I think it's the later since I want the main color to be a WHITE shade.

My sympathies.

We have a huge debate in our house about black vs dark brown.

DS & DH both see dark brown as black and I insist it is dark brown.

Everyone thinks the other one is trying to punk them.

Fun times. :lol:

I have this debate, too, and often insist things are dark brown rather than black :lol:. (Also dark grey and dark blue.)

And sometimes I have this debate with myself in different languages. Italians use "neri" (black) to describe dark brown. E.g., hair color descriptors on legal documents are limited to castani or neri for those with dark hair. While I'd maintain in English that my hair is dark brown and not black, in Italian I'll say it's black because it's closer to black than chestnut.

I don't believe that hardly any European person has "black" eyes, but that's what the Italians call people with dark eyes. In my case, I say that my medium-brown eyes are marroni rather than neri. (Yes, Italian IDs use "castani" for brown hair but "marroni" for brown eyes.) But there are plenty of other people whose eyes I'd describe as "dark brown" in English but "black" in Italian.

I have some turquoise jewelry that I call blue :lol:. It obviously has green in it, but it's more blue than green if you ask me.

We are warned in the test that our monitor settings can make a big difference, and I think that must be true because I would not consider those last colors to be turquoise, but pale blue-greens. The laughing head in my post looks closer to turquoise than those shades did.
 
I got 177.

When I first started to work in the paint industry, in a training session we did similar kinds of tests, and the plotted all the results. Most everyone was clustered together with smallish variations. Then there were a couple of people who were completely off from everyone else. They were told not to work in color matching. :lol:
 
When I first took it, so many colors were neither blue nor green so I picked green and got 185! I went back and decided some of them were actually more blue than green and got down to 176 or something. They both said I think turquoise is green which I most certainly do not.
