Austin Majors passed away at the age of 27. He played "Theo," Andy Sipowicz's son, on NYPD Blue. He was wonderful in the show and so funny. Such a sad loss for his family.

If you are into Jazz, you might be interested to know that Wayne Shorter died.

If you are into horror, especially classic horror, the guy who played the Creature from the Black Lagoon died recently too:

Jim Gordon, talented drummer (Derek & The Dominoes), prolific session musician and.....for years an undiagnosed schizophrenic until he killed his mother, dies in prison at 77. A disturbing read: https://www.rollingstone.com/music/...ric-clapton-drummer-dead-obituary-1234697705/
I hope he felt differently about his mother over time. That is all very sad.

Lance Reddick has died. I adore "The Wire" and he was Lieutenant Daniels in that series but he was also known for the "John Wick" films and "Bosch" and other work.

Some white artists, like Elvis, exploit Black culture. So celebrate Bobby Caldwell, who enriched it

The author of this article mentions how he was shocked to find out that the singer of 1978's What You Won't Do For Love was white. The exact same thought went through my mind the other day when I saw on the news that Caldwell had passed away. He never repeated the success of that song, although his second album went gold in the U.S. and apparently he was big in Japan, with his first four albums there all going gold. His music was also featured in various movie soundtracks including Back to School ("Educated Girl"), Mac and Me ("Take Me, I'll Follow You"), and Salsa ("Puerto Rico").

I still hear that song a lot. It has staying power. RIP

Brandon Penny, who covered figure skating for TeamUSA.org and NBC Sports and, as of 2020 was the USA Weightlifting Director of Communications & Content, has died :(: https://www.teamusa.org/USA-Weightlifting/Features/2023/March/27/Remembering-Brandon-Penny
His Twitter account: https://twitter.com/bppenny
I believe he was only in his early 30s.

I first heard the sad news via Nick Zaccardi's tweet earlier today: https://twitter.com/nzaccardi/status/1640417207661281288
My thoughts are with Brandon Penny's family. I couldn't help but smile any time I'd run into Brandon, and in our catch-up conversations. I'll miss him.

Every once in a while, if we’re lucky, we encounter one of those extra special humans who just makes the people around them feel a little bit lighter… a little bit more at ease. Brandon Penny was one of those special people. I mostly saw Brandon in a work/athletic environment over the years, but whenever we ran into each other, I always felt more at peace. He was a friend to everyone, above all. And in the stressful world of competitive, Olympic sport in which he worked, that warmth and friendship meant a great deal to many, many athletes. Rest easy, friend. You will be dearly missed.
