I started to watch The White Lotus S2. The characters are flawed, but more likable than on S1. I'm still not invested at all in them. And Jennifer Coolidge still bugs me to the end of the world and back.

So I'm not watching it anymore.

Sicily looks absolutely gorgeous, though.

We watched the new Disney+ (I don’t think it was released in theatres?) animated movie Strange World tonight. It’s really pretty to look at. It fell really flat though. It had a couple of cute moments but that was it. It isn’t funny, Jake Gyllenhaal is a really terrible voice actor, and the story just kind of plods along.

It was released in theaters, actually, but it flopped, badly.

If you like sports docudrama you might like season 2 of The Test, on Amazon Prime from January 13: https://youtu.be/sTtwryQZmko

It follows the Australian Men's Test Cricket team from mid 2021 through to the end of our tour of Pakistan in mid 2022 and covers a lot of drama that happened during that time. I'm looking forward to it, interested to see several different angles on the events of the last year. I don't think you'll need to know much about cricket to follow along.

It just didn't work for me. The part of the story about the generational conflict was pretty generic and predictable. And the part about the adventure was confusing. Also, the voice work wasn't distinct enough so sometimes it was hard to know which character was speaking between the father and son in particular.

I do think the animation was pretty cool so an animation geek may enjoy it.

Ah, I hadn’t seen anything about it. I’m not surprised it flopped.
It wasn't marketed well but I don't think better marketing would have helped.

I did know about it but even before it was released in theaters, it was getting negative talk among the fan base so Mr. Mac and I decided to wait until it streamed on Disney+. I am pretty sure that they announced the streaming date before the theater release or maybe right after. I did know I wouldn't have to wait long, so we did. And I'm glad.

Is anyone watching The Witcher: Blood Origin?

Season 1 placement of story lines without context was confusing. The writers just made fun of fans in Season 2 for being confused by Season 1 and really pissed me off. It wasn't done in fun. They were being pissy little assholes that the commoners dared to criticize their grand vision.

So on the one hand I'm kind of over anything Witcher unless someone else wants to reboot it. On the other hand it's Michelle Yeoh and there are only four episodes. Is there enough of her being a complete badass to make this worth it?

I watched Blood Origin and loved it but it seems people who love the books are not too impressed.
I enjoyed it too. I never played the games or read the books, so I had no preconceptions the way I did for The Rings of Power. I liked the band of seven characters and would be interested in learning more about each of them individually, but I also appreciate that the series didn't get bogged down in minutiae. I think the prequel did a good job making sense of things that were referenced in the main seasons but never explained or put in context.

We watched the first episode. We'll probably watch all four unless they're really bad. I do love Michelle Yeoh, so I'm willing to put up with a bit. ;)

OTOH, we watched Inside Man with David Tennant and Stanley Tucchi. Wasn't impressed. Good acting tho.

I wasn't thrilled with Inside Man either. Agreed that the acting was good. Putting my snark of it in a spoiler because it probably would spoil everything that happens even though it becomes predictable. Maybe someone can watch more than one episode before predicting the ending. ;)

The script was completely dependent on worst case scenario happening at all times. What are the odds that the worst case scenario will always happen? I find it to be lazy script writing to try and generate suspense and it became more and more irritating as it progressed rather than suspenseful.

I just finished Dead to Me and I was so disappointed with the direction it took in S3.
I HATE cancer stories and try to avoid them at all costs.

Yeah, I made it through two episodes and then put it on hold and I don't think I'll finish it.
Why make people all anxious and depressed with something that started as a dark-humored comedy with some emotioniality?

I recently watched 1899. It felt a bit as if they recycled all the "mysterious sounds" from Dark :p , but that aside it entertained me more than I expected.

Watched the first two episodes of 1923 on Paramount+. It's very good, and as you'd expect Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren are amazing. It does a good job of not glossing over how tough things would have been on the land in that period (or indeed any period). Looking forward to seeing how the story develops.

Wait until you watch episode 3! One of the best hours on TV I’ve seen in awhile.

Actor Jeremy Renner is in critical condition after an accident! Sending him thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery!
Now reporting critical inquiry but stable.

I’m NOT reading the news anymore 😩.

I was watching Love Life S2 before the holidays, and I wanted to finish it but saw that HBO Max pulled it from streaming. So rude! They could at least give people a heads up so I could have binged it before I went on vacation.

Mr. Mac and I decided to watch The Witcher: Blood Origin this weekend. Mr. Mac watched the first episode and said "This is horrible" and wouldn't watch the rest. I thought it was "okay" so I watched the whole thing. It was okay. Parts were fun. Parts were confusing. Parts were dumb. 🤷

I binged on Undone on Amazon this weekend. It was good.

I also watched The Fallout on HBO Max. It was also good. Jenna Ortega was very good in it. It was great to see her in something so different from Wednesday.
