Nathan Chen Fan Thread #2

What happened to Pitkeev of Russia?
He retired after the 2015-16 season due to injury (senior highlights were winning silver at 2015 Rostelecom Cup 2015 & bronze at 2015 CS Golden Spin of Zagreb) - link to read a summary of a July 2019 interview here: https://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/th...ve-33-summer-2019.105726/page-14#post-5611460

ETA:

Nathan won gold at the 2015 JGP Final in Barcelona and, as we all know, he was injured during the 2016 Nationals exhibition gala -- after he had qualified for both Junior & Senior Worlds -- and so never got a chance to really "finish" his junior international career.

Nathan appears in this new Xfinity commercial with other Olympic athletes.

Flashback to scenes from Vera's workshop.

Shout out to GPI Olympians

Better picture of Nathan getting ready to board the plane.

Jason uploaded some older photos taken with his Olympic teammates.

Smart not only protecting himself via masks but also glasses and face shield. A lot of people don't think about the mucous membranes of the eyes which can be a portal for viruses and bacteria.
Doesn't he wear glasses for reading?

Nathan's Jurassic World commercial just posted...
On NBC Sports' YouTube channel (Jan. 28): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jhUNnvA_zJs

Press release (Jan. 21):
In collaboration with NBC Sports, Universal Pictures worked with the Jurassic World Dominion filmmakers and the legendary artists at Industrial Light & Magic to create a breathtaking, thrilling two-minute spot featuring U.S. Olympians Shaun White, a three-time gold medalist, Mikaela Shiffrin, a three-time medalist including two gold, and Nathan Chen, a three-time world champion, who each experience their own up-close-and-personal encounter with iconic Jurassic World dinosaurs as they snowboard, ski and skate amid stunning winter landscapes.
Olympic gold medalist Mikaela Shiffrin debuted the first of these spots with an appearance on NBC's Today on Jan. 21. This spot, which features Shiffrin with the raptor Blue from the Jurassic World films, will also run during the NFL Divisional Round game on January 23. Then, beginning at 8 p.m. ET on January 31, all three of the individual athletes' individual spots will appear simultaneously in a "roadblock" across multiple platforms. This will be followed on February 3 by a primetime exclusive preview of the 2-minute spot featuring all three athletes and the campaign will culminate with the official premiere of the 2-minute spot during NBCU's coverage of the Opening Ceremony on February 4.

Pics of Nathan at practice earlier today!

@YukiNieve shared this pic of Nathan being interviewed by Japanese media in the mixed zone after practice in the news from social media thread in KnC.

And this tweet as well - not surprisingly, he's skating to La Boheme and Rocketman. And he was chatting with training mate Mick Brezina during practice.

No video of his practice but lots of photos have been posted.

Nathan said he didn't sleep well last night and was still drowsy. Also still getting used to the ice. He wore a mask the entire time and was landing his quads but didn't attempt any during his runthrus.
Great pictures. Nice to see him there with Michal Brezina, who has also posted some pics/video on his own instagram.

Thank you for posting. I forget how bad the non-skating based pre-Olympic articles always are until I read them, and I promptly want to correct them when they get stuff completely wrong;).

Apparently Vincent has no chance at a medal, and Shae-Lynn developed Rocketman:rolleyes:. But there were some interesting quotes in the second article from Nathan about the last Olympics that I had not read before.

Thank you so much to everyone who has provided links, and other info about Nathan - including his possible romance with Mai (so cute ?). Nathan said in one of the interviews that he's excited to be there - and if Nathan is excited, so am I! Praying that Nathan stays healthy (as well as all of the athletes), has lots of fun and has great skates every time that he steps on the ice at Beijing! Naturally, I hope that he medals, and if he wins I'll be over the moon with joy for him!

GO NATHAN! ?????? :cheer: :cheer2: :rockstar::respec: ⛸️ ⛸️

Nathan's episodes of From the Top just dropped!

Clip from first day's practice. Landed a 4F and popped a 4T.

Nathan appeared in the Japanese program "King of Jumps"

Nathan's Rockstar is Hayley Kiyoko - never heard of her but I listen to country. Not sure if it was widely known before this series but she is the daughter of well-known skating choreographer Sarah Kawahara. And apparently her siblings gave her a bit of a hard time when they heard about this show because she's "the worst skater" of the siblings, lol.

It was really cute and nice to see Nathan so relaxed and comfortable. And he looks so much better with the curly, longer hair than he did in 2018, lol.

Thanks for posting the article from "Pressreader". It's often that I can't read the articles in specific newspapers - I have a good ad blocker and I refuse to turn it off/white list for a newspaper article.
Do you use ABP (Adblock Plus)? If so you may left click the ABP icon and choose to unblock a single page (article).

What does that have to do with his health? Is the problem the quad toe
I thought it was pretty well known that he has been dealing with a nagging groin/hip injury and that it's affected the quality of some of his jumps, especially the 4z-3t combo.
