The Voice - fall 2021

I'm surprised no one has started a thread yet so I'll do the honors. Monday & Tuesday each had 2 hours shows of the blinds & they were really entertaining. Ariana Grande is definitely going for the win right out of the box. She's a hoot. I've liked almost all the judges throughout the seasons but this 4 has incredible chemistry together. The talent is pretty good too so far. The only rejects have been young teens that were not quite ready.

Kelly is still giving a jacket, this year it's aqua. Ariana is giving a cute box - it looks like a lunch box filled with things like honey to soothe your throat & healthy supplements. John is giving what looks like a boxer's robe (knock out the competition) & Blake is doing a selfie with his team. Ariana got the biggest laugh of Monday night. Blake was blathering on to his prospective singer & she played a snippet of her hit "thank you, next" which stopped him in his tracks. I love this show.

OK, I'm talking to myself but I think this year's crop are the best ever. Tonight the top 13 will be whittle down to 11. My favs all did themselves proud last night. Every judge has at least one member who could win it all. I think Kelly has had the best team all along so I will be surprised if she doesn't win. My picks: Kelly - Girl Named Tom (sibling trio) & Jeremy, John - Joshua, Ariana - Holly, & Blake - Lana & Paris. There are only a few episodes left.

Agree that last night was really good. Even Lana stepped it up and sounded far less nasally. Ryleigh (eta Holly, too) were a bit off. My other quibble is with Jim and Sasha. Jim’s voice is gorgeous and I needed to hear more of his lead. Unfortunately, Sasha’s is still having trouble with some harmonies (earpiece issues, maybe?) so he sang melody most of the time, depriving me of more Jim.

I don't think Jim & Sasha should have made the top 13 for the same reasons that you cite. Ryleigh wasn't the only frontrunner who didn't live up to previous performances. Wendy, Holly, & Paris fell short of their best too. OTOH I thought Jershika did the best she ever has & looked damn good too.

All my picks went thru which isn't surprising since only 2 went home. I wish Jim&Sasha had gone home instead of Shadele but I supposed there are too many other powerhouses for her to stand out & her save me song didn't showcase her very well.

If you count the contestants stolen from team Kelly, she has 6 left!

I want either Girl Named Tom or Wendy Moten to win. The only problem with GNT is that they are on Team Kelly and I don't like Kelly at all. She's very annoying. For some strange reason, I like Jim and Sasha.

On the reveal show last night all my favs advanced so that's good. But Gemani deserved the 10th spot a lot more than Jim&Sasha. According to something I read J&S got the least amount of votes. I wish they would just go with the votes & not do a bottom 2. However neither one has a hope of winning so at this point it probably doesn't matter. But IMO other 9 who are left are all extremely talented & deserve the exposure so I hope J&S go next.

My recording cut out before the end. I agree that the Allens are the weakest left, but I flove Jim’s voice, so if he gets the lead vocal next week, I won’t be sad. My ears thought Gymani was the best of the soulful three on Monday. I hope she gets some work out of this.

I just wish anyone singing a Sia song would go for more enunciation rather than trying to sound too much like her. If we are going to get a Sia cover I would like to hear the words better at least. I do love Sia's voice but I always have to look up her lyrics.

Does anyone know if the winners were announced in vote getting order?

If so. I was a bit surprised to see A Girl Called Tom so low.

I think they are so marketable and seem like they’d get lots of crossover votes.

They boys in the group had a few issues. The dark haired brother needs to find some confidence because he’s definitely their weakest link.

Becca could honestly win this whole thing on her own but I do love them as a group.

I want to like Wendy, but I find her flat.

I can’t get into Holly, mostly because she keeps her eyes closed the whole time.

Lana is way too country for me and IMO is nothing unique or special.

And Jim and Sasha are just horrible, sorry.

I feel they are still there based on the kitschy” oh it’s so adorable “ that they are father and son and his son is trans! narrative.

I love that story but I don’t like it being used as a gimmick to undeservedly win a talent competition. Sorry for the rant.

I shudder to think what Simon Cowell would say about them.

And in one more rant, I really wish they would be more critical of the performances.

It’s just way too “you’re so amazing “ all the time. Even when they’re not.

I don't think the results are in order of votes (I'm pretty sure they say "no particular order" or something to that effect.

I like Girl Named Tom. And speaking of the brothers, they have a fun song on their Spotify called Backup Plan where the older brother (the light haired one) does the lead vocals.

I thought that each coach will have a contestant in the finale, unless all of Ari's contestants are eliminated before the semis.

They announced that once live voting started the eliminations will be for overall vote & not by coach. They've done this before.

I know they've done this since the beginning until season17. If I remember correctly the last 3 seasons, they still announce that eliminations will be for overall vote until the semifinal.

WTF indeed. But I'm ok with Holly & Jeremy going. Both of them have regressed lately. If someone heard only the 2 songs they sang this week they would wonder why they were there at all. I would have been ok with Wendy & Lana going home as well. Why Blake stole Lana instead of Kinsey I'll never understand. And Wendy has one of the best voices but her connection to what she's singing is still minimal.

Agree, I wondered if my sound was off on my TV after the judged raved about Holly, who had many mistakes ranging from pitchy to downright off key. I loved her Heart song, but this was not good. Jeremy has underwhelmed me the last 2 weeks. My least favorite is Lana because I don't like that nasal country sound, but she didn't have the issues that Holly had. And the Allens should have gone home several weeks ago.

At this point, I am Team Kelly (Girl Named Tom #1, Mia #2) or Paris. Wendy can sing, but I agree her connection to her songs is lacking - was better earlier on in the competition I think.

Well, Amerikuh has saved us from the Allens and Lana. I would have given Jeremy Wendy’s spot. It would have been cool to see a head to head between Wendy and Jershika, just to have the security guard perform Wendy off the show.

I was pleasantly surprised by the results
Was dreading Jim and Sasha in the final.
I would have switched out Joshua with Wendy. Kinda surprised he was in the bottom.
Wendy is an amazing singer but I feel nothing when she sings. I guess her habit of blending into the background as a back up singer is a hard one to break.

Think she’s also suffering physically. She sat for both of her songs on Monday

I know she broke her arms but I’m guessing she’s injured or very sore.

Otherwise it’s a good top 5.

I’ll be shocked if GNT loses this. But even if they do, I’d be even more shocked if a record company doesn’t come forward and sign them. It might be to their advantage anyway based on the lacklustre success of most former contestants, which has been attributed to the record company attached to the show.

Thrilled for Jershika to survive last night. Lana and Jim/sasha were terrible for me all the way through but the voice never seems to vote right. The trio is incredible. We def got a very solid top 5 this time. Hailey is just ok for me but oh well

I liked Wendy this week, but GNT is still my fave. All 3 are movie star beautiful, and if I believed in angels, I would say they sing like angels!

I, too, loved Girl Named Tom. They sounded great singing separately, and in complete perfect harmony when they were singing together. They really did sound like Angels singing. I was so hoping they would win.

I wish GNT weren't on Team Kelly. Not looking forward to Kelly gloating when they win. I know Blake does it too, but somehow it's more annoying when Kelly gloats.

I wish there would be a tie between GNT and Wendy. Wendy has the voice, but GNT draws you in. Since, this show is about the 'voice', Wendy should technically win. Plus I am a fan of her only semi hit in the US 'Come In Out of The Rain'. She should sing that for the finale.
