Meghan can definitely rotate quads. It just took Eric's firepower in order for her to complete them.

Sorry, I wasn’t meaning she can’t rotate quads, just saying growth spurts come to all skaters and the new teens will have some adjusting to do.
Saw the video of Gracie Gold rotating 3A. It’s definitely possible to learn the tricks. Megan also done the quad throw later in her career.

No worries. But, it did get me thinking.

I still wonder if the rumours circulating about Meghan training singles again in 2017 were true. Given what a fierce competitor she was able to develop into as a pairs' skater, would she have been able to apply that mindset to skating by herself.

Gracie looked good on those clips. It's nice to see a grown woman with that kind of technical firepower.

While it's exciting to see the likes of Trusova and Shcherbakova hammer out quads, to me, I can't really relate to their artistry because they're more or less children.

A bit of information regarding Aurora's latest injury is under the "Latest News" section of her website.
Unfortunately, this summer Aurora's suffered a new injury on her groin tendons, and she is working intensively with her team of doctors and physiotherapist to recover completely and be injury free before training in full force

I believe she confirmed herself that she was considering it and did do some singles training at the time (on TSL?). IIRC, she said she had planned out her program content and everything, but once she and Eric got their programs choreographed and well training more intensely she decided she couldn't do both.

OK how weird is it that two NextGen ladies both scored 151.86 this weekend? ;) I mentioned Alison Schumacher's JGP Zagreb score earlier in this thread (she scored 99.21 in her JGP Zagreb FS: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wXNxcPiSJHw ). Her ISU PB total is 158.52 from 2019 Junior Worlds.
Catherine Carle won Junior Women group 1 (56.17 in SP, 95.69 in FS) at Paris Autumn Skate in Ontario. She cleanly landed 3T+3T, 3Lo & 2A in SP and six triples in her FS: 3S+2T, 3Lz (-0.35), 3T+2T, 3F, 3Lo, 2A+1Eu+2S & 3S.

For @haribobo ICYMI: You can remove Rinka Watanabe from your CAN ladies scores list. She skates for JPN (4th in Junior at JPN Nationals; trains in Burnaby).

If not for the spin bobbles at the end (I suspect she was maybe a bit thrown off by how well things were going), she'd likely be in third place, even. I hope she doesn't get distracted too much thinking about medals (several of the girls around her have notably higher scores in the free) and just delivers what she can do.

I'm very happy. Best short program from a Canadian lady so far this season.

Same throw as a triple. The woman just has to get into rotation quickly and pull in tighter. This is why they were more consistent with quads than when many Russians and Chinese tried them because they were 'pitching' the girls across the ice - putting their health in danger.

This is correct. She was working on jumps during spring tours and did have a SP choreographed. SC wasn't happy about it but wasn't stopping her.

She abandoned the idea because she realized it would be too much of a load and because she knew she couldn't get past the SP in the Olympics. A long time foot injury prevented her from doing a 3T so a triple-triple wasn't possible.

I'm all in on this girl. 13 be danged, let the hype begin.

She's not like KO, other than the fact that she could still go far without having the highest TES in any event she competes in as her career progresses. She has too many other tools to work with, beginning with a sparkling personality that practically explodes out of a video screen.

If there's no medal here that's OK but a medal might help her reputation and results at junior world's, so I wouldn't be opposed...

About a quarter of the ladies who qualified for the free skate didn't have triple-triple combinations.

Given that Duhamel had a solid triple lutz, triple flip and triple salchow, I think she still could have qualified with a clean skate.

True but hindsight is 20-20. Too much of a risk, putting yourself at such a deficit and needing to be fairly perfect otherwise. Coming 20th I'm sure wouldn't have felt like much of a prize to someone with her credentials either, as someone preferring to be truly competitive rather than barely in the game.

Look how the pairs threshold to make the free shot up almost overnight. Too many unknowns. Wasn't worth it.

I wasn't suggesting for a minute that Duhamel compete. Only that she would likely make the free skate in Korea with her experience as a singles skater, with the triple jumps she still attempted in pairs skating.

The impression I got from her considering entering the ladies event at nationals, was that Canada didn't really have a strong third lady (based on international results that season), and that it was another way of adding to what would likely be her last Olympic experience.

She always seemed very realistic about her own expectations.

While I doubt if she was thinking of an actual podium placement, only Duhamel and her team would know her motives. If nothing else, it sounded like good PR.
 
According to my calculations, Skate Canada is a little less than 3 weeks away and I am not aware of Gabby having been out on competition ice at all yet. I remember a few brief clips of her programs from some time ago and that is all I have seen. She has so obviously had much to contend with since the Olympics, so all the best to her and may the right decisions for her overall well-being be made.

Her free skate wasn't as good as her short, but it was still good enough to get a new season best overall score, and the highest score among the Canadians this year. Great job and great hope for the future.

While of course I'm sure she'd like a medal, after all her health problems and the time off ice, I think/hope that they have realistic expectations. This should just be about easing back into competition.

But even saying that, looking at the field, if she skates well, bronze is certainly doable there.
 
Anything is possible, of course, but all the Russian and American ladies at Finlandia have had at least one prior competition, while Gabby is making her season debut there.
