Tarasova/Morozov Cheer Thread

I’m glad to hear that. I hope T/M have a fantastic season and prove all the naysayers wrong.

Critics have been right that T/M can give a technical clinic at their best, but that over the years they have had trouble finding the best music and choreography to enhance their style. In addition, it's quite obvious they have shown little to no connection to each other on the ice, much less any engagement with the audience.

That's not to suggest T/M and their various coaches over the years haven't tried mightily to improve those weaknesses. Perhaps this will be their breakthrough season for at least finally matching their talent and physical beauty with great material. Every team has to work on overcoming weaknesses and enhancing their strengths. Whether there's enough time, luck, and effective guidance and collaboration to be able to do so is part of every skater's journey in this sport. T/M have usually not suffered in the scoring department even with average and subpar programs, so finally finding something enhancing to sink their chops into should be exciting for the pairs discipline, and should finally allow T/M's generously hefty composition and interpretation scores to be validated. :)

ETA:
It will truly be something should Zoueva, White, and Scali be able to help T/M bring out their personalities and show an authentic connection to each other. But even little steps in that direction, if not a full-on transformation, would be a major improvement. Meanwhile, no one has ever to my knowledge, criticized T/M's SS and technical expertise, when they have been in-the-zone. In the past couple of seasons, they seemed to fluctuate in their confidence which led to technical inconsistencies in some of their performances.

Yeah, there is a Pairs discussion thread for sharing opinions like that.

Or, you know, you could just...keep them to yourself instead of repeating them every ten minutes.

Good luck to T/M. It will be interesting to see what happens this season with their new team. It will be great if their music and choreography matches and enhances their skills. As I said, the bigger challenge will be seeing if they can bring out their personalities and the emotional connection they actually do share. Should that happen, I will be cheering along with everyone else who enjoys great skating.

I am just dying to see their new programs and really have my fingers crossed that this will be the season they manage to connect and find their true “style.” I’ve been waiting for it for years now, and if they can finally cross that threshold they will be exceptional to watch with their gorgeous basics and enormous elements. Can’t wait!

I am cautiously optimistic. It takes time to develop artistry. Shen and Zhao worked with Lori Nichol for a few years before they really came into their own. I would like to see some improvements this year but I don’t expect to see a finished product in their first year with the new coaches and choreographers.

I think this will be a breakthrough year for them. Alot of good can come when you change up the scenery. Also, Marina has a way to bring out the best in her skaters.

And seems like she wouldn't put up with all those program shenanigans. Usually when they (and other Mozer teams) have badly-received programs, the usual answer is "oh, well... too late to change it now". It took Trankov a lot of effort into talking them into going back to Rach2 after two short program disasters (well, same choreo to 2 different pieces of music), but I believe Marina has a lot more sense to notice when something is not going to work when she sees it.

Is it actually true that Mozer said she was done with T/M? Or, did Mozer instead suggest they ask for Marina's help because with Candyman exhausted :P, and with Max worn out from the stress of last season, T/M desperately needed a fresh start?

Seriously, I wonder how it all transpired. Certainly, Charlie White did exceptional work for Denney/Frazier and James/Cipres last season, and with his connection to Marina in the mix, moving to Marina (with her new training camp) seems like a no-brainer brainstorm. :D

I just hope Marina has been given full authority in making decisions.

I’m a huge fan of T/M and it always really annoys me how much hate directed is towards them, so I really want to see this new direction work for them. However, I am confused with this move. What exactly does Marina do for them? Is she actually a coach and teaching them Pairs elements or is she their choreographer.

From reading the above she has done no choreography at all. Scali did the short and White did the long. Did White really do exceptional work for D/F (can’t remember the programme) and J/C (was it just not a watered down rehash of SoS)? I certainly don’t think so.

People also criticise Mozer but I felt when she reappeared as part of their team it lead to a marked improvement in Evgenia’s performance. They seem to have a lot of trust in and respect for her.

Anywho, I’m looking forward to their test skates and wish them the absolute best for the upcoming season.

Mozer doesn't want to coach them, and has publicly stated that she has no interest whatsoever in her senior teams. It's not like T/M can do anything about that.

T/M didn't want to stay at Mozer's rink without her, and made some vague comments about not getting along with someone there. The only other high level coaches available in Russia were Dmitriev and Vasiliev. Dmitriev didn't seem to have any interest and Vasiliev is still close with Moskvina and a direct threat to B/K who are trying to usurp T/M so that's rather awkward! TAT has thrown her support towards Stolbova. Really, there weren't a lot of choices left in Russia. Marina is the only Russian coach outside of Russia with experience in elite pair skating. Szolkowky is now in California with Meno/Sand, and I thought maybe that would be a possibility for them, but I can also see that the RuFed would prefer to keep them with Russians.

And perhaps Marina was the one willing to collab with Mozer. T/M didn't want to leave Mozer, but Mozer doesn't want to be a full time coach anymore. Marina gets the everyday management of T/M, but Mozer shows up and puts her two cents in. Hopefully that's a cooperation that makes everybody happy.

T/M have been so silent on social media that it's making me crazy! Vladimir had a few instastories with him in boats, Julia Wagret had them in a few instastories too, but Evgenia has been silent since Tuk Tuk visited in July. I'm practically crawling out of my skin waiting for the test skates!

^^ Thanks for the rundown regarding Mozer @Amy L. So Mozer does not want to coach T/M, but she's still willing to offer advice and consult as needed? Do we know for certain that Marina has agreed to collab with Mozer on occasion?

I've heard it's been reported that T/M have two very good programs, so I guess we'll soon see at the test skates. When do they take place?

Mozer was just in Florida last week. She may still be there, or at least she's still in the US because Dave from TSL mentioned that she was going to be at Mid Atlantics at Chelsea Piers this week.

Russian test skates are this weekend, Sept. 7-8. (which means Mozer won't be there, so we'll see if Marina travels with them or if they go on their own).

I’m not sure whose idea it was, but it feels like Mozer is working very little with T/M now and spending most of her time with Zabiiako and Enbert. Maybe it’s because of her health?

SP: Bolero (choreo by Massimo Scali)
LP: Te Amo, by Umberto Tozzi (choreo by Charlie White)
