Tarasova/Morozov Cheer Thread

I really hope Marina can work some magic with this pair. I feel like they are a blank page....they are so talented, there is so much to work with.... and with her years of experience (and starting out with pairs) I hope she can bring out their potential. I am looking forward to this move very much... more so with the choreography than with anything else...

I’m so excited for this! I think this is a huge step in the right direction for them - taking them out of their comfort zone but still keeping some familiarity. And am I the only one picturing Gordeeva/Grinkov’s Moonlight Sonata?

As a huge T/M fan, I'm very excited to hear about their move and choice of coach!

Of course I rather enjoyed their "I Feel Good" program, but Marina knows so much about pairs skating I'm sure she can make something really special for them.

Gooo T/M:cheer2:

I had no idea she coached pairs. For those who say they like her pairs choreography can you recommend any programmes that she's choreographed so I can youtube them?

Tar/Mor are equal technique wise with Sui/Han, but to be truly competitive with them, they need to get the 2nd mark even higher. I, too, think this is a good move for them and much better than going to St. Petersburg or Perm and competing with Stol/Nov or Moskvina's teams. This spreads the top Russian teams around to all the top coaches. I'm looking forward to seeing how this plays out for them.

If she can somehow get them to show more of a connection during their programs that would be amazing. I feel that that is probably bigger than anything with them... when you see them skate, while admiring their great skating, you never are quite certain that they actually like to skate, or even skate together. Pairs is so much about that sort of thing. It doesn't have to be romantic, or passionate, but some sort of connection, or emotion, has to be there so that the audience feels invested and drawn in...

And yes, big G/G fan here... they were my first big obsession in figure skating!! She helped take them from being little baby skaters as juniors, to being the very best....

You are not the only one. One of the first things I thought of was ‘Moonlight Sonata’ and G&G.

She coached Gordeeva Grinkov to their second OGM. She continued to coach them as pros.

Like Tatiana Tarasova, she’s best for teams that are already technically strong because the detailed work, managing the mood, motivating the athlete , mental toughness and giving a style that’s fitting, she’s good at! EVERYONE knows T&M are a classical team and that is Marina’s specialty. This will be easy for her and i cannot wait to see it.

By the way her free skate for Alissa Cziny which cut out towards the end because of Alissa’s injury , it was the best free i saw on her. Also, i know this is weird but she changed in Patrick Chan the one thing that bothered me; his HANDS. marina is the detail queen. Also, she’s not exhausted on pairs work like some where they’ve just created a cookie cutter methodology ( David Wilson)

If you cannot tell I’m over the moon about this, I AM. Lol

It would be interesting to know why it took so long to ask for Zoueva's help then. She seemingly would have been free last season to work alongside Max. In earlier years, Zoueva was kept very busy with her ice dance teams. We shall see what happens. I believe that Evgenia and Vlad are the ones who have to pull something more out of themselves. But maybe Marina has some ideas to challenge them with that might spark something. What I dislike is how T/M have been so relentlessly coddled by the judges, particularly on PCS, even when they haven't been at their best.

In any case, I think T/M have come close to bringing out more of themselves in some exhibition performances. But they need to work on that more in competition programs. I'm not interested in bland classical exercises either. They need to bring it, albeit not saddled by music and themes that have no connection to who they are either (like the poor directions Mozer took them in for far too long).

The new gala program is very nice for T/M [the music poignantly recalls Weav/Po and Denis Ten :( :) ] It also looks as if T/M are, as are many pairs teams, inspired by some of the moves of James/Cipres (particularly the overhead spin at the end, although J/C have done a more jaw-dropping, head-spinning version). T/M already seem a bit sharper in their movements, which bodes well. Perhaps they are inspired by Zoueva coming aboard. I look forward to hearing about their new programs and music selection.

This June 7th article by Anatoly Samokhvalov was posted yesterday in the Russian news thread:
Google translated excerpt:

“Volodya and Zhenya started working at the Marina Zueva Academy in [Estero] Florida,” Nina Mozer said by telephone. “This is a big project, and both I and Maxim Trankov are participating. We fly to the guys in America according to agreed schedules, and the main and permanent job with a couple this season makes Marina Zueva personally."
“There are many significant figures in the team of specialists,” noted the specialist. Thanks to the regions that the guys represent - Tatarstan and Moscow, they supported us in our aspirations and give us the opportunity to develop further."

T&M are Better than S&H where technique is concerned- basic skating, lines, postures, everything. What they are lacking is confidence and charisma. Music wise they may be limited. They will never become a pair that connects with the audience, but if they could connect with each other, they can still be great.

I was hoping for Marina to do the choreography herself.

They haven't announced anything about a SP yet, so maybe she did that one. I was looking forward to seeing how her pairs choreo would fit them, it'd be a shame if that doesn't actually happen this season.
