Something is different. There’s a sense of freshness. Looks like they also learned a new lift! I’ve always loved this lift when D/F was doing it.
They look so confident now!
Whoever said "Let us wait until we see the program" was right.
I’m saying this again: Let’s watch the programs before we make up our minds about them.
I think above all the new programs work because they cater to their strengths as a team. In the past it always felt like they were struggling and fighting against their natural abilities in a quest to appear more interesting. Like they were ashamed of skating like a classical Russian pair and were doing everything they could do not to be it, which proved to be very detrimental. Someone told them the Russian pairs style was boring, dull, dated and belonged to the past and they (and their team) took it to heart. That's why we got Candyman in the Olympic year. Marina is bringing them back to the traditional while making it modern and that's why they look better then they have in years.
I still don't like the LP music, but they've had worse and at least the choreo is good.
They got the music from Maxim Trankov. Apparently V/T were planning a competitive program with it, but they decided to retire. Vladimir asked if he could take it, and Max gave his blessing.
So now we know who to blame.![]()
I truly believe that they never developed the confidence while they were in Mozer's group. They were always number two (behind Stolbova & Klimov) or number three (behind V&T, S&K). Mozer never seemed invested in them. Finally, after it was clear that S&K could not make a comeback due to Klimov's injury, they may have started getting some attention (like last year). However, even now Mozer seems invested in Z&E, and not in T&M (other than in name). I am very happy that they are away from that environment. It was never truly helpful to them. It may have suppressed them in a way. Now with Marina and her team, I think they can blossom.
yet, it is Mozer Tarasova turns to for emotional support. Clearly, Mozer isn't ignoring them. Moreover, both she and Trankov have been to Florida and participated in their training there. I think people read things into coach/skater relationships that aren't exactly the reality.
What would you have her to do?
Yes, esp with James-Ciprès sitting it out. Just like last year was theirs with Sui-Han out due to injury. It will be one heck of a fight when/if all three teams meet at full strength! This is going to be their year!! I feel it in my bones!!

Well, the year didn’t start well for them. Second to Cain and Le Duc? Their PCs were so ridiculously low that the competition seems like a farce. I can understand penalizing mistakes but to inflate the pcs of an American pair and intentionally mark down a Russian pair in PCS is plain wrong. They must feel awful. They have the best skating skills in the whole world.
I doubt it. This is an awful event. All the skaters are blue lipped and stumbling from lack of oxygen. Plus very early. They'll be fine at their GP events, trust me.Two weeks ago, I thought they would challenge for the world title this year. Now, I’m worried this will be held against them all season and they won’t make it out of nationals.
