Do you mean in the SP? They started with that at the beginning of the season, but she missed it a couple of times so it wasn't worth it. I think the choices in spin this season are about protecting her back - she had a pretty serious back injury after the Olympics. We'll see if they can spend more time fixing the spins now.

not sure what upgrade Med wanted which Eteri did not want but that could be interpreted in a few ways.

Yup.

Her original LP in 2017-18, to The Leftovers soundtrack, choreographed by Averbukh, featured a 1/6 layout, with only a 2A in the first half of the program:

She only skated it at Nepela, before switching to Anna Karenina. I thought it was a stunning program, and had tons of potential. Rewatching it again right now, it's quiet and not as in-your-face as AK, but I think it's definitely the better piece of choreography and more impactful.

Incredible dress, too.
 
Looks like Medvedeva wanted to be competitive with Alina and coach said no. Maybe this is part of the reason for coaching change.

I think we also can’t underestimate the impact of her injury in the Olympic season. The 1/6 layout may have become impossible after she sustained that. I don’t blame Eteri for wanting to focus on consistency with her previous content rather than upgrading, even if it didn’t work out for Evgenia in the end.

I'm not an Eteri fan, but she clearly would have preferred Med to win. I think Med was too injured and didn't have the jump quality to win, If Eteri could have fixed that quickly, she would have.
 
I agree that with the injury, it was best not to try to up Evgenia's technical content. One can deplore Eteri's methods in general and still believe she made the right call in that case.
 
I don't think Eteri sabotaged Med either or tried to prevent her from doing more difficult jump layouts to preserve Zagitova or for other nefarious reasons. I think Eteri realized that it was much better to come up with a game plan where Med could skate clean and the judges will do what they will regarding GOE and PCS between her and Zagitova because trying for more may have not allowed Med to even have a fighting chance or even worse (falling from second to a lower place).

That's exactly right!

When Medvedeva felt that her original FS was not good enough, Eteri and Daniil spent 48 hours without sleeping, reworking in 2 days her "Anna Karenina" show number into the FS, so she can start practicing it immediately.

Then, Medvedeva originally had a black dress for "Karenina" programme, and had few problems during FS in GP events. When she returned after the break from skating, for the Europeans, Tutberdize said to her "let the past issues/problems stay in the past year, with the "black dress". I want you to have new and fresh beginning. Let's make you a new more colorful dress". And she paid for Medvedeva's new dress herself.

During the pre-olympic season, she told both girls, you have this advantage, and you (the other one) have that advantage, do your best, and anyone has a chance to win. It's been said before and NONE of the girls ever denied this, not even Medvedeva, although she had a chance to do so, directly and indirectly.

I case of Evgenia, she was also made into a two-time world champion and a star. Tutberidze put a lot of effort into accomplishing those goals. I heard that she is very involved in getting her students contracts with prestigious brands, in particular.

Can you give me one bit of evidence, other than your opinion, and/or "rumors spread by interested parties, or people who know very little or nothing about the situation"?

How can you say this when 90% of what you post is rumours and assumptions? I agree people are making assumptions based on little evidence but you're the biggest culprit. People in glass houses...

I guess I'm naive but I thought this interview would lead to a discussion about disordered eating in the sport, not a debate on who, between Med and Eteri, is the worst person. It's easy to point to one or two coaches as evil people who starve their students, but this is about so much more than a few individuals, it's systemic. And it's encouraging to see how Medvedeva has been talking about her experience and the evolution of her relationship towards food. It's such a taboo subject, and as long as it stays that way nothing will be done about it.

No. either a link/a foto/a video is presented right under, it is something that has been presented before, or something said on other chats (but we can't forum drag).

Plus you probably don't read/see a lot of videos, articles, etc., that i see, in russian.

Most of negatives said about Eteri are myths, rumors, and speculations, spread and repeated too often, and start sounding like "facts".

Lipnitskaya had a serious eating disorder. Eteri was well aware of her "diet" and spoke openly and admiringly of it.

Medvedeva has spoken about being "dry" and "learning to eat properly".

@Perky Shae Lynn And the quote from Alina last season (at a worlds presser?) about how you could delay puberty or some other bs about optimizing your body for skating by restricting food intake.

And the literal video of Eteri and her team weighing skaters to the gram in front of each other - behavior that is well known to contribute to eating disorders. That followed by her skaters obsessing over their weight to the gram like Evgenia talked about in this interview.

except if she was told by her team not to worry if she skates clean she has enough to win. Med skated lights out but did not win and so might have felt misled.She seemed to be bewildered and turned to Eteri and said but I skated my best.

I agree. I can't imagine Eteri sabotaging Medvedeva's chances to win. IMO, she would have much preferred Med to win, and was pretty heartbroken when it didn't happen.

You just don't get it. Whatever' Medvedeva's actions were (and you have no idea what happened behind the scenes), she does not deserve the pure hatred you and some others express towards her. Unless she killed Eteri's dog, set her house on fire, and stole her life savings. The hate, the slander, the insinuations, the rumor mongering - it's vile. But carry on....
