Best pairs programs of all time

Speaking of SPs by B&S, I loved their 99 worlds SP, skated to ‘ Happy valley’ -the music played when Hongkong became a part of China. It showcased their speed and power (like in Meadowland and Radetzki March). The edging was magnificent. Despite the size difference their lines are so well matched. Great unison in their moves.

I found interesting that it was Barbara Underhill who selected "Happy Valley" for them. I wonder what other B&S programs where made using music suggestions from other fellow skaters.

I think Radetzki march SP music was suggested by another skater but I don't remember who.

Word! I adore their performance from the GPF - it was my favorite skating performance of that entire quadrennial

I've always actually disliked a lot of G&G's programs because when I see them I see Marina Zoueva all over them and I find Marina Zoueva to be a boring choreographer. They're beautiful skaters but I never really liked many of their programs. However I did love Crazy for You. Thought it was fun, really highlighted their speed, and I love the music.

I remember Scott Hamilton saying that this program was the only one that actually reflected who they were off-ice or something.

V&T’s Masquerade waltz 2014 Oly) and the Bollywood SP (Euro 2016) are among recent performances that I love. I also liked T&M’s Rach SP at the 2018 Olympics.

I watched three times to find the side-by-side spins. They were easy to miss, as they looked like footwork.

Was there a different requirement for the side-by-sides that year?

I am no teknik so I'm not sure what the requirement was in 2016 for the Pairs SP. Hopefully someone who follows the requirements more closely than I do can comment! Were SBS spins even a requirement in the SP in 2016? The pair spin in this program is SO cool that's the spin element I always remember!

They weren't in the program because they alternate between pairs spin and sbs spins.

It's kind of too bad that music was an afterthought for most of their programs, but would there be anything resembling a 'signature' Rodnina/Zaitsev program? The free program with the symphonic Alice Cooper section?

This was perhaps the first time they skated it in a competition. They made some changes to the program as the season progressed. I liked her white costume in this more than the one she used in the Olympics. My favorite costume for them, however, was the blue one used at Trohy Lalique and COR (though they had a terrible SP performance at COR).

This thread really shows how subjective taste really is in this sport. 3/4s of the programs mentioned repeatedly bore me to tears (especially all S/N and Tot/Mar programs), though I can see the quality of skating in most of them regardless of artistic taste.

No one's mentioning Savchenko/Massot's 2017-2018 LP that won them the Olympics and Worlds? I don't normally watch pairs, but that program blew me away.

One thing I've noticed watching the older programs is that the 3-twist was pretty much vertical. The more horizontal positions of contemporary times are much better IMO (and obviously much more difficult).

Brasseur and Eisler used to do an almost totally horizontal triple twist - I remember commentators used to refer to it as the "triple lateral twist". I think it was considered a separate element from the split triple twist, because I remember one or two times (I think their 91 Worlds LP?) when they did both the triple lateral and the split triple twist in the same program.

I think it was considered a separate element from the split triple twist, because I remember one or two times (I think their 91 Worlds LP?) when they did both the triple lateral and the split triple twist in the same program.

Another different thing was two death spirals in a program. I was so surprised by that that I had to go back and check, thinking that my eyes must have deceived me.
