ISU Grand Prix Assignments 2018/19 season

Competing on the GP a few months after starting pairs is extremely ambitious. I don’t think it was ever realistic unless she’s just an incredible talent for pairs. It was probably always a gamble. They probably thought if she is a genius then great. And if she’s not then oh well, it’s not like she’ll ever get close to a medal in singles.

I think perhaps lifts are the most dangerous - throws less so because she would be mostly used to jumping.

Not sure if it was as depleted but in 2012-2013 they ran out of intial "alternates" and had to give Challenger winners (ie brand new team Chris and Alexa K.) spots
Alexa/Chris had won 2012 Coupe de Nice (the Challenger Series did not exist yet) and ended up replacing Yankowskas/Reagan at NHK Trophy - for those who can read the Archives, the 2012 GP series was filled with :drama: about withdrawals/alternates :D: https://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/th...selection-continued.85319/page-4#post-3737814

So, I haven't had the time to follow this thread at all. I am doing my Skate Canada predictions and see there are only 10 women listed. Why are Elizabet Tursynbaeva and Dabin Choi not there? I checked the ISU site; and, as of Oct. 8th, they are both still shown as competing at Skate Canada.

Accidental omission? I would post in the Predictions thread and ask. ETA: I don't see one started yet in the SCI forum. Paging @peibeck!

where are you looking that you see them as not being there?

Normally we don't start the prediction thread until the prior comp (in this case Skate America) is about to start, but it was set up on the prediction contest website early because all the people who help with the contests have been so busy. (Personal lives... :drama: ) I can start a new thread for Skate Canada tomorrow or over the weekend though. I will check the ISU site for any changes before I post the thread and make a separate post if there is anyone who has been deleted or added to the roster since we posted the contest.

When I went to the prediction website to make my SA predictions, Skate Canada was also on the drop down menu, so I figured I would just do that comp.as well but then saw that Tursynbaeva and Choi were missing from the ladies choices when they are still on the ISU listing.

Is Besseghier still skating? His name is still at the list of competitors at the French GP.

He was initially listed to compete at the Masters de Patinage a couple of weeks ago, but withdrew just before the event. I don't know if he was injured or if there was another reason for withdrawing, but it does suggest he's still skating for the moment.

Is Skate Canada obligated to replace Choi with a Korean skater? Here are other possibilites (the USA/JPN/RUS girls are excluded since they have max spots):

Eunsoo Lim
Hanul Kim
So Hyun An
Kailiani Crane
Matilda Algotsson
Viveca Lindfors

I'm really hoping I get to watch Lim! Or maybe Kailani also. Please make it happen SC!

Mallet and Pineault better be added to the skate Canada entries ASAP!
I'm going to be really pissed if they don't get added.

They don't even have to buy them a plane ticket, just bus/cab/uber fare!
I might have to get my gun out if they don't
Did Gabbie withdraw? I thought she was never there? But there was 3 cdn girls on isu site yesterday
