I would think after having weight problems with two partners, you would learn your lesson (Antipova almost died for heaven’s sake) but then again, the old dog might not learn new tricks. We will see. I’m not sure what he is like professionally, but Rogonov has always seemed like a very nice guy. As for young student dating older coach, I’m not a fan of it but it’s happened many times before...sometimes it can work out okay, but rarely.
One can learn from his past mistakes only if he manages to realise his contribution to those problems. If he understands he made some mistakes, the chance is that he may be careful not to do them again. However, the question is whether he does have the insight. If he believes that it was only Iliuschetchkina and Antipova’s problem, then it is unlikely he would change his behaviour and there would be no learning from past mistakes. We will have to see.

In his defense.....and it makes me choke....he and his partner left the coach at some point in their career but once you have the disease it is very difficult to get well and she was not able to do it until she went to the hospital in Israel and it was touch and go for a long time. Nodari waited for her for a long time. Her health gradually improved but never got to the point where she could compete again...Hopefully he felt bad enough to take a nutrition course.

Please people get it straight! It was Maizuradze not Rogonov who was with Iliushechkina and Antipova!
That’s correct. It is Maisuradze who was with Iliuschetchkina and Antipova, and it is Maisuradze who is now in relationship with Ustimkina, while at the same time coaching Ustimkina/Rogonov. So it is Maisuradze who is quite invested in getting good results for this pair. The question is whether Maisuradze will start putting pressure on Ustimkina to get a bit lighter, and then a bit more...

Maisuradze didn’t leave Pavlova. He stayed with her until the partnership with Antipova ended because she needed the treatment for Anorexia and gave the interviews to newspapers and TV. Maisuradze stood clearly on Pavlova’s side. The fact that he waited for her for a long time while she was getting treatment - I am not sure if there was around that many teenage females whose parents would let them skate with him, while Antipova was getting treatment and doing all those interviews about how she was treated by Pavlova and Maisuradze.

Do you have any links to these older interviews? I am now remembering this sad business from 4 years ago. I still don't know how she managed to muster the energy to train for and compete at 2014 Worlds given the state she was in.

A worthy point is that Maisuradze showed in his pro skating with another partner that he was MORE than capable of lifting a partner of fit and healthy shape. See: https://www.instagram.com/p/BOZ1m_igXkM/?utm_source=ig_share_sheet&igshid=120s2lrze6zpy

So the whole thing was completely unnecessary.

I would have to search for the links. So maybe you could do the job, if you are interested in that?
I think you are missing the point if you are saying that he was capable of lifting another partner. No one says he wasn’t ‘capable’, but there is no doubt it is easier to lift a lighter partner and he did nothing to stop Pavlova when she was emotionally abusing Antipova, telling her how heavy she was.

I read that they had switched in 1interview . this was 4 years ago. I did read some interviews her father gave while she was almost dead. The only interview I saw with her was months after she came home and was slowly recovering.

In theory, they did switched to Dmitriev. However, at that time Pavlova and Dmitriev were sharing several pairs, working on the same rink and even though after the switch Antipova/Maisuradze didn’t belong to Pavlova on paper, Antipova was meeting her any time she went to the rink and due to frequent interractions between Dmitriev and Pavlova, Antipova felt that Pavlova still had a huge input into their skating. So the question is, did they really switch or was it just a paper exercise to keep everyone happy?

I went back and read the old threads on it. Quite surprised that many held the view back then that Antipova shouldn't have spoken out because it was career suicude.

Although perhaps views have changed as we have seen that starved little girls don't make successful pairs skaters - a point proven by Duhamel, Sui Wenjing, Savchenko this past quad and the lack of successful pairs teams from Pavlova.

I have the link where Russia released Lubov ...it says oops We ran into problems...maybe the thead is archived or closed...It happened the same day Antipova's father made a news statement and I think it was in the thread.https://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/in...-oct-15-russia-has-released-her.92457/page-29

For the record only, that lift is not difficult and done at a standstill, and the rest of the tricks are "for the audience" and not technically that difficult either (like a 2x twist).

Tech abilities and videos would be great.

I found his fskate.ru profile here: http://www.fskate.ru/skaters/4292.html

This time Google Translate calls him Gunmen. I think I prefer Shooters. It has more possible meanings.
Стрелков Даниил - Last name "Strelkov" does not relate to "gunman" linguistically, but relates to "shooter". The name comes from "Strelok", an old title for a Huntsman/Tsar's Guard, in times when Bow and Arrow were the only hand held "shooting" weapon. "Strela" is an "arrow". They accompanied a Tsar to the hunts, and guarded him during travels or outings. It was somewhat of a privilege to be "Tsar's Huntsman". (But the name means "Son of Huntsman")

of course later years, the title remained, but they had guns instead of bow and arrows..

I have seen live them on Kings on Ice shows. They are simply amazing! Ari Zakarian knows who have potencial! ( In this year he also invited Loena Hendrix in the KOI and look at she will be very succesful in this season! )

Elena Yovanovic has been a big name in ice shows for over a decade by now. Hardly a newcomer first seen by Zakarian.

Yes, maybe I was misunderstood. I just wanted to say in the KOI shows you can see the bests of the show skaters. If you have seen a KOI you know Zakarian is professional. And I recommand you look at Elena with Nodari! You will understand what I'm talking about!

Ugh, that’s scary. I’m glad he got caught.
It says it was "one of the men rejected by her", no identity given. The particular article I posted also didn't say whether he was caught, but my dad apparently read something about it. Or imagined it because he is quite old and dementia is sometimes kicking in full time. But he was very proud that he could tell me something fs-related without me knowing it first :)

Question:

Does anyone think Liza Tuts could make the Russian Worlds team this season? Or again?

I think Maria will start to lose ground, especially once these juniors arrive in seniors....but Liza seems to be coming back stronger to me....

Wow, Radionova and Panenkova at the Russian cup 2! I know it is only SP, but I am not sure if they can catch up that many points. It looks they are lucky that they have GP events otherwise they wouldn’t qualify to Russian nationals through Russian cup events!
