Lindfords finally gets named for one of the 2 Finlandia TBD. They are making Peltonen wait more it seems.

Men:
Virtnanen for the Finlandia TBD and Zhi-Jie Yee for COR (filling the D10 spot). One Finlandia spot still available.

Dance: Turkkilla & Versluis get the FIN TBD. Reed/Ambrulevicius and Komatsubara/Koleto get the 2 vacants at COR. Min & Gamelin finally crossed off SA.

Note that both Yee and M&K weren't in the top 10 alternates. So again they are doing as they please.

Julian might have been. I had him 11th on the list I was keeping, but it's not clear to me that Ivan Righini is still competing. He's not listed for any CS events so far. So if he wasn't entered for the GP, Julian would be tenth.

Yes! Per diem and doggy hotel care too.

That argument would hold water if u were talking about SkAm, SC, France, NHK, etc. But NOT AT ALL Rostelecom. Thats the WHOLE point.

It dont matter if skaters 1-10 are in Minsk, St. Petersburg, Moscow, Chicago, Ho Chi Min City or the Orion Constellation they go with non-threats.

And paying for the travel is part of hosting a GP event. So, yeah, theres that.

Good point. Is true Righini is MIA. Im glad for Yee. A MAS skater actually born in Malaysia getting 2 events is big. D10 would be proud!.

Russia likes to make sure there is at least one dance team that will lose to their lowest-ranked host team.

And Great Britain must really suck at ice dance politicking. This is the third year in probably the last four that I can think of them winding up with the top team on the list and hoping Japan will invite them.

I think Nicole will be pursuing her Masters degree(s) starting this year, so I don't expect to see her competing at least for the duration of this season.
 
Lists for dance and men were updated.

Turkkila/Versluis got the second host spot at Finland (no surprise there).

Fear/Gibson took the spot vacated by Muramoto/Reed at NHK. So just one Japanese dance team at NHK.

Junhwan Cha is at Finland now. Is that a returned host spot too? I've lost track.

Did Miyahara or Mihara withdraw from NHK?? Sota Yamamoto and Rika Kihira are both in NHK now, which means one of Miyahara or Mihara withdrew?
 
OK, with this news out of Japan about their host spots, plus Min/Gamelin no longer being crossed out, the remaining spots left to fill would all be host spots, as follows:

LADIES: Host spots at Skate America, Finland, Russia, France.
MEN: Host spots at Skate America, Skate Canada, France.
PAIRS: Host spot at Skate America. Plus the rumored split of Esbrat/Novoselov potentially opening up another French host spot.
DANCE: Host spot at Skate America, Russia, France.

Plus the possibility in France that Didier could return any of his host spots back to the pot... or wait until the last minute to withdraw skaters...

Feels like a good chance we'll get the remaining host spot information this week?

I’d say Nam is almost certainly getting the TBD spot at Skate Canada, based on his strong summer competition showings.
