How? His summer score wasn't particularly notable

The only non-JGP skaters above him this summer were Rabbitt, Dolensky, and Savary. Apparently Savary has not hit the min score (neither at 2018 Nats nor this summer) to be on the ISP. Perhaps the feeling was that Jimmy has the most viral video/ticket sales type of appeal. He really does have great performance skills. Tim D. has had chances, and his scores of late seem to be significantly lower than before (and by more than 7 points or whatever that 30 seconds cut costs), and Sean still doesn't have a 3axel. So, I would have loved for any of those 3 to get the spot, but I'm thrilled for Jimmy if he does/did get it. He is fun and different and deserves support for that, and 11th at Nationals is nothing to sneeze at (higher than Rabbitt and Savary).

I agree. It's not like any of the remaining US men is overdue for a spot or it's gonna be a dark horse for medals or even win WS points at SA but at least Ma has the potential to become a crowd pleaser so why not. Personally I prefer Dolensky but he's not in good shape it seems.

The USFSA has said recently that they are looking at more than results (i.e. future potential) when giving out international assignments. This has its upsides (potentially better results in the future) and downsides (assignments are subject to biased USFSA officials).

Plus, prior seasons results matter and always have.

Yes, while people might not fly clear across the ocean for her yet, there has to be a sizable Korean American community in Seattle as well as a Korean Canadian one in Vancouver. And while Eunsoo may not have broken out enough to bring them in yet, she might very well have brought in some people. 50,000+ hits for her Asian Open SP and 300,000+ for her Salzburg JGP short program last season on youtube. Her videos were popping up above those of the winners because so many fans were watching them. She is a senior national champion.

Totally agree she's a star in the making. Cannot believe they have chosen Chartrand over her...

It's been like that for a while (since they replaced Zandron with Kerry I thknk) but yeah, it seems obvious D10's post will not be replaced. I don't see the poin of it and I could bet Denis would have liked someone to skate but it's not my call either.

She can come right from Rostelecom, not too hard logistically.

Lea Serna is the only option for the 3rd spot, but it's doubtful that Didier would send her. She lives an hour drive from Grenoble. Don't ask me why you would send someone to junior world in Bulgaria but not consider them for a GP in their backyard.

I’d be happy to see Serna to get the host spot in France. IMO, she could really challenge Meite and Lecavelier but needs experience.

As I have posted before, Champs Camp does not mean everything. It's a good indicator, but do we know if another non-GP man is going? Two non-GP pairs went to Champs Camp last year (both picked up assignments later on) and it's more to monitor progress then anything. Ross and Bradie were invited and were assumed to be host picks but they had to skate well to get the spot. Is Dolensky not invited? Because I would still put my money on him.

Yep, don't count Didier to support anyone who he doesn't like or thinks is worthy. I remember Anais Ventard winning nationals one season and still not being sent anywhere after that.

Serna beat Lecavelier at French nationals last season, landing like 5 triples. If she's in decent form, she really deserves the FRA spot.

Having said that, I'm obsessed with Lim's progress and amazing programs, dangerously close to uber status....so whatever we need to do to get her a second GP, I'm good with.

The PDF files for Ladies, Men and Dance were updated..

Ladies:
Lindfords finally gets named for one of the 2 Finlandia TBD. They are making Peltonen wait more it seems.

Men:
Virtnanen for the Finlandia TBD and Zhi-Jie Yee for COR (filling the D10 spot). One Finlandia spot still available.

Dance: Turkkilla & Versluis get the FIN TBD. Reed/Ambrulevicius and Komatsubara/Koleto get the 2 vacants at COR. Min & Gamelin finally crossed off SA.

Note that both Yee and M&K weren't in the top 10 alternates. So again they are doing as they please.

Who are M&K? This is the second each for Reed/Ambrulevicius and Komatsubara/Koleto.

Yee is a quite wonderful choice, if they weren't going to leave Ten's spot open, as a skater from a non-powerhouse Asian country who has gained many fans for his expression.

K&K? Noted. Also noted that Russia now has two dance teams on the replacement list & didn't get a spot for either of them in Finland so I'm not certain this strategy is working.

I'm thinking it over, and thinking if Japan doesn't fill Muramoto & Reed's spot at NHK--which obviously they aren't likely to if they didn't hand out a third TBA in the first place--then that one will probably go to a Russian dance team.

Im not sure. JPN is usually the less likely to dig deep in the subs and just picks whoever is next. Fear & Gibson are first in line, train in Montreal and there are already lots of teams from that camp going so its easier logistically to arrange plus RUS already has 2 teams at NHK.

I just looked at Rostelecoms replacements for dance, etc..... they sure dig deep. I wish ISU could choose Rostelecom's replacements for them.

I'm not sure either. But Evdokimova & Bazin are second on the list. Japan tends to pick from the top but not always whoever is next. And they aren't opposed to inviting three quality teams from the same country. They invited Cannuscio & McManus twice as a third team from the U.S. when NHK gave up it's TBA.
