Dobre posted International Senior Rhythm Dance Thoughts both in the Lake Placid comp. thread in Kiss & Cry and in the U.S. Dance thread here: https://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/th...eason-news-updates.104092/page-2#post-5389101

Excerpt of the 2 Canadian teams, currently in 3rd and 4th:
Sales & Wamsteeker--Nice, cohesive solid program. Lyrics come in only at the end to help build the excitement. Might have done an uneven number of twizzles on the first set, but I would have to rewatch. (I'm liking that you can choose only one piece of tango music and liking a lot of the programs in which teams chose to do exactly that). 56.23

Lanaghan & Razgulajevs--New, tango-flavored lift right at the beginning. (It's really great!) This is someone's music, but I'm blanking on which team I identify it with. My mother really liked this program. She smiles a bit much for my taste. They are growing together as a team and good improvement from last season. 52.59
ETA Dobre's International Junior RD Thoughts on the 4 Canadian teams who are in 2nd, 3rd, 7th & 9th after the RD in Lake Placid: https://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/th...eason-news-updates.104092/page-2#post-5389192
Makita & Gunara-Oh, I like them. (New team for me). This is a tango. Intense feel, lots of footwork. I believe the same piece of music all the way through. He performed it really well, and she did a good job too. He botched the first set of twizzles.:( If the FD is as good and clean, might go their way. 50.94

Galiyanova & Lochead-Very nice twizzles. Clean performance. Impressive for a debut together. He is very low on the spin. Her expression reminds me of Kirsten Moore-Towers. 50.54

Bashynska & Beaumont-Carmen. Sigh. Well, it was clean until the twizzles. He was down on a knee on the first set and missed the second set also (not sure if they will call it a fall or not, but probably no levels). Gutsy to put the twizzles at the end of the program but high risk. 43.64

Katrayan & Derochie-She has expression. They're happy with a solid skate. 37.70
The lone Canadian team is 5th after the Lake Placid Junior RD in their debut together: https://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/th...eason-news-updates.104092/page-2#post-5389217
Junior RD Thoughts (domestic competition):
...
Orihara & Royer (CAN). She's selling it. Felt like a tango. Pretty solid for a brand new partnership. Some jostling. He whips her around in the lift. She's quite a bit smaller than him. 53.80

Galiyanova/Lochhead also announced the JGP news on their joint Instagam account: https://www.instagram.com/p/Bl6gmYDgH5b/?taken-by=irina.and.grayson

And Stairs/Graham have also been assigned to JGP #3. Skate Canada's doing a great job of getting their new teams out ASAP this season.

For anyone interested in junior dance programs, I've been doing the due diligence to obtain what choreographer info I can (still in progress): http://www.twofortheice.com/2018-19-programs-choreography-junior/
Has anyone heard if Lee Royer and his new partner Yuka Orihara have been assigned?

Yuka Orihara can't compete internationally until after February 2, 2019 because she and her former JPN partner competed at Mentor Torun Cup earlier this year: http://www.isuresults.com/bios/isufs00102355.htm
Is it possible this team may compete for Japan? I read on another board they are attending a local competition in a Tokyo soon. Might be a way to gain an easier path to assignments at junior and seniors?

It's possible. They were listed with their Canadian club at Minto, whereas someone like Shingo Nishiyama had Japan listed instead of TSCC, but that doesn't tell us for sure.

Won’t be able to do any JGP for Japan either since Royer competed was it Austria and Minsk last year??

If they have any dreams of going to the Olympics I'd say that's unlikely, given Japan's strict citizenship laws (see what happened with Laurence and Nikolaj).

I would say that it could be a struggle for this team to get to Worlds, never mind the Olympics, representing Canada. Royer really doesn’t have the skating skills to get to that level of competition. With little to no competition in Japan, they could get to Worlds.

Lol well the judges at Minto would disagree with you. They just placed Royer and his new partner in first place in quite a strong junior field.

Well there is Minto, skating junior, in July, and then there is Nationals, skating senior, in January. (Not that they will be senior this year of course.) But, put Royer on the ice with Shane Firus and Nick Wamsteeker, who are not that much older, and I think you will see what I mean.

Lee was 19 on July 1st, just turned 20. Shane is almost 4.5 years older than him. Not sure that's a fair comparison.

But also, I don't see the point in acting like S/W are so far ahead. S/W got 138.01 in Sr at Lake Placid, while O/R got 134.84 in a brand new partnership in Jr. O/R did the domestic part, which tends to be scored a bit higher, but on the other hand seniors have a higher BV. And sure that's just one comp, but still it shows how close they were scores-wise.

And why use a comparison to S/W if the point is about making the Olympic team. Lajoie/Lagha significantly out-scored them last year internationally. It's not like S/W are genuinely in the mix for 2022 at this point. And predicting where these teams will be at in 2026 seems foolish.
