- Some trivia
1) Eunsoo LIM will NOT compete at the JGP, because she got an assignment at COR, a Senior Grand Prix.
2) Young YOU and Yelim KIM have been coached by Tom Zakrajsek since this off-season.
3) Jeongeun JEON /Seongmin CHOI will be the first Korean junior ice dancers appearing in international events, since Hojung LEE / Richard Kang-in KAM competeted in 2016 JW.
JGP Bratislav will be also JEON & CHOI's first international competition.
The best results for Korean junior ice dancers in JGP were 4th place by Rebeca Kim/Kirill Minov (2013 Minsk) and Hojung LEE/Kangin KAM (2015 Bratislava).

They did the same with Konstintanova for two seasons until she got the technical minimums and WR to earn spots on her own. I’m not worried because I believe in Gubanova’s talent.

No Chinese pairs? I know China doesn't send skaters to every JGP, but isn't it risky not sending pairs to every competition?

China sent out 4 junior pairs to the final 3 JGPs with pairs last season and none to the first one.

Italy's Daniel Grassl, 16, is listed for the first JGP in Bratislava. Sergey Rozanov posted a photo today with him at the camp in Courchevel, France, along with an IG story of him landing a 4Lz+3T+3Lo combo in practice.

mmmm hard to say. I saw a snippet only 2 wks ago of Elle Fisher and Marjorie Lajoie starting choreo. with Sam on their rhythm dances so and Elle Fisher withdrew from last weekend so maybe they don't feel they are ready and would prefer later.

ETA: Freedman's previous partner was Keara Harney and they placed 4th in Novice Pairs at 2017 Canadians.

mmmm hard to say. I saw a snippet only 2 wks ago of Elle Fisher and Marjorie Lajoie starting choreo. with Sam on their rhythm dances so and Elle Fisher withdrew from last weekend so maybe they don't feel they are ready and would prefer later.

The Filipino female part of the pair team used to skate with Max Fernandez (former junior pair champ with Joy Weinberg) for the US. Cirinia and Max were 2nd in Novice in 2014 and 5th in Junior the next year.

I think in Montreal but not with Marcotte and Gauthier - at least, the guys behind me were definitely from a different rink, and they were talking as though the Austrians were their training partners.

I mean, Madi and Zach were working with Sam in January before the Olympics, so not necessarily what that means.

Also is it possible you may be remembering wrong? Unless I missed something, I thought it went more like this: EPMISS posted clips from several teams' programs, including the RDs of Lajoie/Lagha and Fisher/Malette-Paquette - Sam was nowhere in those.

Then, just a day or so ago, Sam posted a story about just starting working with L/L again and a picture of them on the ice, but I don't recall F/MP being mentioned. Unless I missed one of his stories, but I normally see them all.

Regardless, both teams are supposed to compete at Championnats in a couple of weeks. And last year, L/L were entered in Minto and pulled out, but were ready for the first JGP. So I wouldn't read too much into that.

I guess we'll find out whether or not they're injured based on whether they show up at the Comp in a couple weeks.

So I’ve seen that Galiyanova and Lochead have been assigned JPG #3. It’s weird that they have a JGP assignment but were beaten by Makita & Gunara at both Minto and Lake Placid but M&G don’t have one. Can someone explain this?

For the record, I thought Makita & Gunara were the standouts of the junior event at Minto. Their RD was absolutely amazing. So difficult (constantly in a hold and they had the best tango feel). They have Virtue & Moir type of toe point, matching extension/leg line and posture. Their only downside at this point is she looks a bit young.

Re: Fabbri and her new partner, I get that Skate Canada is high on her but their FD looked rough. Tons of open skating and hand-to-hand holds. I guess we’ll see how they do internationally. She has a mature look and maybe Skate Canada thinks that’s an advantage internationally.
