Papadakis/Cizeron #6 - Season's Over - Let's Get Drunk!

I'm exhausted catching up reading this thread, my word, from 1 to 8 pages in the space of one week  That has to be a new record for a P/C fan thread.
But now bitterness has been expressed, can we go back to a more appeased tone ? P/C were the most ready ice dancers of them all starting with a bang at CoC and never looking back. The dress well, that was badly handled by everyone imo and I'll never understand that. It cost them the Gold and they'll have to live with it now like they said in an interview, it will always piss them off, but they have to move on and I think we do too.

I found it yessssssssssssss Soundhound is the best really. So here goes, it is a beautiful version, I think I prefer it to the original https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Q-TWgfHmNo

And talking about music, I'd like a program on Sunshine. "Kaneda what do you see ?" (Not the greatest movie, but there is something really poetic about it) mixed with another John Murphy soundtrack on 28 weeks later

Sorry, I messed up while replying ... ignore the quoting running amok!
Thanks Cocotaffy for finding the soundtrack of the EX. . I too, like this version and I regret not being able to see the end of it. Gaby is as light as a feather! They are truly incredible together.

The season has been almost exceptional (European champion, world champion, winner of the grand prix final, full of world records...), although there will always be a very big regret and disappointment about the Olympics. (Guillaume pressed a little too much on Gabriella's dress but fortunately this incident will make them friendly and popular with the French public...:rolleyes:).

I think V/M might have had an edge over P/C only because of being able to work with the B2Ten team.

But that had nothing to do with MFD/PL/RH.

B2Ten chose which Canadian athletes (only a handful) that they wanted to work with and V/M were included in that.

B2Ten managed almost everything for V/M when it came to training and being competition ready for Olympics.

It may have even freed up Gadbois coaching team to spend more time with P/C & H/D. But that's only speculation.

B2Ten was the only reason that I thought V/M might have been able to squeak a win out over P/C at the Olympics.

V/m had an edge because Papadakis had a wardrobe malfunction. I don't think B2Ten sabotaged Gabriella's dress, and there's no point rehashing what happened. Good for V/M for rising to the occasion, good for P/C for not letting it get them down. Let's move on.

Woah ! These photos are incredible ! I love this one : http://www.dssanchez.com/celebrityphotography#e-4
It makes me think about the typical awesome photos of French actresses.
(This is the branding they deserve )
That's a gorgeous shot.

I don't feel you know what you are talking about so I'm going to move on.

Oh come on. The “rest” is that the skaters don’t go out and trip and skate the program as they have been coache

Not to steal this thread at all but V/M had to apply back to B2Ten and there was certain criteria - that it wasn’t about money etc. I read an article where they talked about it. That group is very interesting .. their sponsors/founders don’t get to meet the athletes and the names aren’t promoted. But V/M did use them in 2010 but not in the following years until 2017. They only work with high level Cdn teams.

Sorry for interrupting.

I think many of you have forgotten that each fed pays for 1 coach only. So if the French fed paid for Romain that is why he was always with them. If MF or P happened to be at the competition it is because another fed paid for them!

I remember MFD in one interview saying she is not accredited everywhere and where she wasn’t Patch went. I think that was the right terminology.

I remember them saying that the Olympics takes 1.5 years to recover from.

I think they didn’t want to miss a year and let D/W get too far ahead.

I also don’t think there is any harm if P/C had a late start to the season considering that skaters in general don’t seem to get much of a break. I know though that’s hard from a fan point of view though and maybe they won’t but better to come back fresh and rested.

If they want to come with a different style this quad, then it's good to take a rest now and take some time to think about what direction they want to go next.

I see "the rest" as a lot more than that, and I didn't want to assume something reductive on anyone else's part, and if there was anything that would enlighten my understanding I would have been grateful to hear it. So that's why I needed/ asked for clarification. All the best!

Skaters do a lot of training and long-distance travel, but the competition schedule is quite light compared to other sports. Tennis players do way more than 6-7 competitions a year, the NFL regular season is 16 games, soccer/football has a longer and more intensive season, cyclists who do grand tours have much longer competitions, and baseball's regular season has 162 games, plus a month of spring training games before that and playoff games can go another month.

there's no point rehashing what happened.

.

Oh course there's a point....this is FSU. Rehash is what we do best. :drama::encore::cheer2::rofl:

Seriously though, I would love to see P/C have the opportunity to work with a "B2Ten like" organization for the next Olympics.

Perhaps the B2Ten model will be replicated in other countries.

Gabriella and Guillaume were more than ready for the Olympics... except that there was a dress, an improved record of 7 points in one week, the fair play of a judge (president of a federation when she is not judge but yes it's normal...). That makes a lot.
We'll see how it looks for 2022 ...

Okay I'm going to post this once and that's it :

What's done is done.

We don't need to compare both teams everythime since this is a P/C thread, not a V/M thread.

We'll wait for annoucement, music choices, news, etc, when it'll come.

Thank you all. :gallopin1

I think basically the coach is behind the boards and now they can only watch. They have prepared their teams to the best of their abilities and now it’s up to the skaters to skate their programs. I think we all get that though.

You can't be one hundred percent invested in two teams winning the gold medal at the Olympics......... You just can't. It's called conflict of interest; and all professional people both understand it and the necessary measures a person needs take to avoid it.

I do wish everyone would stop talking about P/C like they are a product on the shelf of the Gadbois supermarket; and actually consider the possibility that what you are getting is maybe their vision, their packaging, that what's special about them is because of their input, and their energy, and their drive. All this Gadbois is more essential to their success than themselves is a bit offensive.........

You obviously could not be invested in 2 teams. It is not in your makeup. MFD and Patrice can and have done it. While you are rubbing your hands together and making up conspiracy theories they are constantly investing all their time, blood, sweat and tears into turning all their teams into the best that they can be.Romain is an amazing coach and he came and stayed as he felt he was able to produce more effectively in this positive hardworking atmosphere as opposed to what he left. Negativity is the last thing artists need. I hope Gabby and Guillaume listen to their hearts and their brains as they continue on this journey and that they do not listen to Didier, the media and the conspiracy theorists out there.

@maya1985 - The dress was beyond anyones control.

The increased score was directly related to level calls and not "one judge" who has NO control on how elements will be called. Not to mention a change in lift that lost points in team and was thus turned back to the original that did garner higher tech calls. That also doesn't include that scores increase over the season. if one can appreciate that P&C scores would increase... it would also make sense for their competitors right?

But perhaps one judge of a panel of nine makes all the difference to you.

Regardless of who came from Canada, there would be an outcry. France did not have a judge in the free. Of course that sucks for your favourite in ice dance but that does not negate P&C in no way got the shaft from their coaching team.

I don’t kno know if it matters though because each country’s judge that is in medal position is going to go with their skater. France and Canada both marked their skaters high and in the FD France wasn’t picked but the Cdn judge was one of the ones removed. The only thing that would clean up ice dancing controversy would be if the ISU hired them as their judges. Of course that will never happen as judges are unpaid volunteers. Even if it did ... I don’t think they could really erase country bias.

Yes and he’s not exactly ugly!! Lol ... and Patrice ❤️❤️ .. i’m also in love right now with Sam Chouinard.

Yes Didier needs to go away .. I feel badly for the French skaters.

Did anyone else find this was an awesome Olympics for skating? Men, pairs women? Ice dancing can only be compared to the Battle of the Brian’s in 1988. Two incredible teams. I was drained by worlds.

Have to admit I had a hard time catching up. This thread's grown immensely in the last couple of days...

I don't have a concrete wish for a song or music that Gabi and Guillaume could skate to one day. But I wish they went back to their 'Rain in Your Black Eyes & to Build a Home' style one day. I feel like these two were born to skate to such music, especially to 'to Build a Home'. :BNS1:

Hoping to see them develop. They have the purest glide but that alone cannot stand by itself. I think she has a ways to go to hold her own especially because his movement is so superb.
Yes, he is a much better skater than she is.
