Here it is:
patrick chan has a new gf, elizabeth putnam, who did pairs for canada. after patrick retires, first, they want to get a dog. then, they want to coach in vancouver and become like brian and tracy at tcc. they seem very happy together
Yay! :cheer2:

I love that he is content with a 9th place finish here, after second being a disappointment 4 years ago. It's a true sign of how priorities shift, and how one can find happiness and peace in the smaller things, and not require trophies to feel successful.

I look forward to seeing what he can do as a coach. If he can pass his skating skills onto the next generation, I'll be happy. Please teach basic stroking classes Patrick!!!!!

Chan closes competitive career on Olympic ice: https://olympic.ca/2018/02/17/chan-closes-competitive-career-on-olympic-ice/
Excerpts:
“We’re seeing the transition now,” he said. “The scale has tipped and I’m so proud that I was able to stick in it this long, but yeah, I’m happy that I can leave these Games with a gold medal in the team event and now I’m looking for gold medals in other things in my life.”
Among the things on his future to-do list: fully move to Vancouver where he’d like to start a skating academy so he can give back to Canadian skating; get his real estate license; continue to perform in shows.
Knowing his free skate in PyeongChang would be the last time he performed before a panel of judges, he made sure that the performance was also for himself.
“As I stepped on the ice and stepped away from the boards and took my spot, I took a breath and that was just like, this is for me. That’s quite a command if you can have so many eyes on you and TV and everything,” he said. “To be able to be like, you know what, I’m going to silence all of that and this is for me. I’m going to enjoy every second of it because I deserve to be here and I worked hard to earn these four minutes and 40 seconds of skate time.”

New show program "Lovers in a Dangerous Time": https://youtu.be/NT92bmkGfRA

Love this! One of my favourite BNL songs. The footwork sections remind me of Kurt. Glad to see Patrick looking relaxed and happy, and I love how he always wears his Canadian pride on his sleeve... or literally on his chest, this time. ;)

I know the "big career announcement" is 99.5% going to just be an official retirement announcement, but there's a tiny part of me that wishes it would be Patrick announcing that he is starting a Canadian tour (in the non-SOI season) like Stojko did with the Elvis Tour back in the day. I know that skating was a much bigger sell back in the Elvis Tour years, but seriously, if Patrick and V/M joined forces to start a fall/winter skating tour in Canada, and they had one or two fairly big financial sponsors, I think it would do very well.

Definitely a nice speech. Loved his appreciation for Mr. Colson, David Wilson, and especially his parents, where he teared up. He also kind of made it sound like he and Liz definitely have plans for the future (kids? marriage?)

Cross-posted here and his retirement thread in GSD... Lori Ewing's article for The Canadian Press: https://www.thefreepress.ca/sports/patrick-chan-hopes-to-open-skating-school-in-vancouver/
“I’m just running around town doing what I want to do, and moving on with a huge smile on my face. I feel good and light,” Chan said, ahead of Monday’s retirement announcement.
“I had three or four things lined up that I wanted to just learn about, and that’s what I’m doing. I’m meeting people and picking their brain and understanding what life is like. I don’t think I had any sense of that when I was in the competitive world. It’s awesome. I’m just a sponge again. I’m just absorbing and learning.”
“Now I basically have three highlights to my life: doing shows (like Stars on Ice), getting familiar with the commercial real estate world, which has been a lot of fun, and finally the third dream would be to have the skating rink going and building a skating program,” Chan said.
...
“At the end of the day, the foundation of it all is the joy of skating and the glide and the power, that’s what’s amazing,” Chan said. ”I think eventually quads will all look the same, they’ll all look like triples. But the one thing that can differentiate a skater and create excitement in the sport is what skaters can bring to the table when it comes to interpretation and how they can match the beautiful glide of skating to music and to a performance.
“I want to play a part in making sure people don’t forget how important that aspect is.”
