Adam will be appearing on KACIE DC on MSNBC at 8 PM this evening

Thanks for the heads up! I tuned in just in time to see it. I think he's managed to discuss Pence and gay rights in a way that gives a voice to others and makes it clear that this isn't just about him. And he did a nice job pivoting to talking about women's rights. His mom seems fabulous. I loved the way he talked about his mom in his HRC speech. For those of you wondering whether to watch the full speech or the clip, watch the whole thing. It's really good.

This is such a great interview with Benji - who is great. I learned the whole story of the birds LP, that they have a streaming TV deal for them to go on road trips and then create a skate for Adam, that Adam sounds like he's sealed the deal for the athletes DWTS show this spring.

The Kristyn Burt and Benji Schwimmer interview that Sylvia posted was really interesting! It was 50 minutes long and they didn’t talk about Adam until the second half of it but it was worth the listen. There’s another layer of meaning to the O/Fly on program that I had no idea about!

They also talked about DWTS and the possibility of Adam being partnered with a male dancer if he gets invited to the show. Benji also teased a possible upcoming series with Adam where they visit different parts of the world together and learn about the local culture and dance traditions. Benji and Adam would then use what they learn to choreograph a skating routine for Adam for every location they visit. I would definitely watch that for multiple reasons.

You’re right, it did seem more like wishful thinking and a discussion of when and how it could possibly happen sometime in the future. I’m not really expecting Adam to get a male partner. It was a fascinating conversation though.

Oh my, that is the first time I've seen the exhibition version. There are so many more bird allusions, which is understandable since he doesn't have to worry about choreographic elements. But I'm so glad he ended up making this the LP that became such a signature piece for him.

All the top US skaters are on SOI. Everyone who's name has been floated, including Mirai, The Shibs and Ashley. Meryl and Charlie did SOI in 2014. I don't know what the dates of everything were that year.

And since the Shibs and Mirai at least have said they'd like to do DWTS, I'd assume SOI won't be a reason someone turns it down.

Yeah, I'd be a bit upset too. I'm mostly looking forward to Mirai, Adam, Nathan, and the Shibs - all who were named by the DWTS casting director as possibilities:

“… If I could just do a season of ice skaters, that would be fantastic because I could have filled it up just with them.”

I'm 95 percent sure they have to sign contracts, yes. The question is whether SOI would allow them an "out," and I'm guessing no - they're too big a draw at this point. As for whether DWTS would accommodate their touring schedule, they've done it in the past for athletes who had games, meets, etc., during the course of the competition - so long as it doesn't conflict directly with their broadcast schedule, they just arrange for the athletes' dancing partners to travel with them and rehearse wherever they happen to be. But as I said, I think it would be awfully rough for any skater to try to juggle both. Not that I don't think Adam is up to the challenge, because I do, but... it's a lot.

There have been DWTS contestants who had crazier schedules. A member of Fifth Harmony did the show while on a concert tour in Asia. As long as they make it to dress rehearsal on Monday morning, it's doable if the celebrity is willing.

Laurie Hernandez was on DWTS right after Rio and was marketed as being on the gymnastics tour... even though she only performed in like 2 stops. So it's not unheard of. Wouldn't be surprised if USFS is milking tour sales even knowing he won't be there.

The SOI tour is not an issue-- he can work around it as there are no Monday dates. He or any other skater will be just fine to be part of both.
