No criticism intended, @Sasha'sSpins :) ... BTW, the ShibSibs fan thread has been near the top on the TC recently so you must have missed seeing it ;): https://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/threads/the-shibutanis-thread-6-paradise-found.103499/

Thanks for the heads up!

He had a 30-minute chat with Entertainment Tonight's Denny Directo in LA.
On YT: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m7vg8R-2B3k
ON FB: https://www.facebook.com/EntertainmentTonight/videos/10156314482391180

Thank you for pointing the way towards the Shib's thread! I swear it was deliberately hiding from me LOL!

I'm in a near-swoon with so much Adam this past month and more to come! I don't know if I can handle it if Adam, Mirai, the Shibs and/or Nathan are on DWTS all at once or in back to back seasons! :swoon:

People TV's The Jess Cagle Interview: Adam Rippon (34:57)

More good stuff in this interview (taped last Friday going by the shirt with stars that he wore) -- maybe a more serious/thoughtful Adam overall than in other recent interviews? -- but the interviewer did make Adam guffaw at the 23-min. mark on the topic of shipping him with Tyler Oakley: "... There was something about you where, just as a viewer and as a fan and I'd never met you before, we had no personal connection... I just thought, 'I want Adam to be happy'... it was a weird reaction to you!"

The story he told about how he came out to his mom (at 13-min. mark) and his first grade anecdote were touching.

Adam on the way he chose to come out publicly (after being inspired by Ashley's speaking out against Russia's anti-gay propaganda law before the Sochi Olympics):
"I came to U.S. Figure Skating ... I said 'I want to put in the [October 2015 SKATING magazine] article that I'm gay, but I don't want the article to be about that, but you're asking me about my story and my journey and I want to put that in there.' I wanted to do it with them because I wanted to show young kids and other people within skating that they [USFS] were supportive."

People TV's The Jess Cagle Interview: Adam Rippon (34:57)

Excellent interview. One of the best he's done so far. Jess Cagle asked some very good questions, and Adam gave very thoughtful answers. But this is just one more indication that he's probably done with skating after Stars on Ice, so I'm a little sad - for me, as a fan of his artistry on the ice - though it's wonderful that he's getting all these opportunities at the same time. As Jess Cagle put it, even though I don't really know him personally, I want him to be happy. :)

I think it's clear that he's done with competitive skating, but he still might do more shows after this spring's Stars on Ice. He can do other things and still do skating shows and tours. How popular is he outside of the United States? Is there any chance that he'll be invited to do shows outside the U.S.? He may really enjoy the process of creating exhibitions with people like Travis Wall, when he has the time to really focus on the exhibitions and not training for competitions. If skaters like Johnny Weir can do commentary and still do some skating eight years later, Adam can do it. I don't think Ellen is planning on having Adam on her show every day. And, as has been noted, skaters have done DWTS while on tour. Adam has lots of options, but they might not all be appealing or prevent him from skating. But I will miss seeing him compete.

In addition to doing shows, he's also talked about how he'd be interested in doing some choreo in the future like he's done in the past, and how he'd like to keep on being involved with "the first love of his life" (i.e. skating) at least to some degree. And no, I can't remember which interview this was, recently there have been so many.

In other news, I came across this instastory of his on my twitter feed and it's a hoot! THE KING WUZROBBED!!! :drama:

He's been invited to perform on Mao Asada's tour in Japan several times -- 2 of the 3 videos he's uploaded on his YT channel are about the tour: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j-3XN5tpq2Y (2015) and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h3oZ-IrAR9Q (2016).

Another fun short video - Adam "tried to teach our producer how to ice skate" (at The Rink at Brookfield Place in NYC last week) and even choreographed a routine for/with him at the end: https://twitter.com/MONEY/status/975401448623271939

ETA:
More  -worthy ridiculousness in video form, this time from Adam & Players' Tribune: https://twitter.com/PlayersTribune/status/975733768190296064
Thanks, @nimi - here's the (same) version published on their website: https://www.theplayerstribune.com/en-us/articles/adam-rippon-my-two-scents

Choreographer Travis Wall worked with Adam last week in LA: https://www.instagram.com/p/BgZsTR4nxw3/
Apparently this is the song/exhibition program that will be debuted on Stars on Ice: https://twitter.com/traviswall/status/974881069173526528
I don't know for certain that Adam will be skating to this song/cover for SOI, but here is Travis Wall's collaboration with Shoshana Bean: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zwEn-ambXLw

If you haven't watched Rich Eisen's fun interview with Adam in his L.A. studio on Thursday, it's linked in post #704 above.

I don't recall Adam uttering the R-word in any of his recent interviews but I guess it's kind of official now?
Cross-posting from the US men's thread...
There's a new interview with Adam about his future plans where he practically confirms it. The description of the video says "Adam Rippon is at a career crossroads after finishing his competitive figure skating career with an Olympic bronze medal", and listening to him talk, the description appears to be pretty accurate and not just something some clueless journo/intern at NBC made up. He speaks about how he's ready to move on like he has no intention whatsoever of going back into competing. So, I think we can exclude him from the GP spot discussion.

Yes. Although I think that without explicitly exclaiming "I'm done," Adam pretty clearly sent that message. May he be as successful in his next endeavors as he has been in skating.

I remember in one of the interviews he did, Adam said he doesn't want to make any definitive decisions just yet. I think he may be holding back from using the "R" word just in case he changes his mind once he's had a chance to really slow down and think. But it's only a matter of time, IMO. I can't see him going back to competition at this point. I wish him nothing but success, but at the same time, I'm sad. There's no other skater quite like him. He's been such a joy to watch.

I remember being devastated when Plushenko, Weir and Cohen all retired after 2010, and while no one has come along who exactly replicated any of them, I have been equally entranced by other skaters who followed, like Hanyu and Rippon. And so the river flows....

Adam definitely has / had his own style and it's hard to imagine either of his programs this season skated by anyone else. I don't think an Adam clone will emerge, but I'm pretty confident that there will be other skaters with their own sass and style to carry on the artistic side of the sport. In the meantime, I'll keep Rippon's bird program bookmarked. :)

Oh, I know there will be others that I will love in future. I just know that even if he moves on to a career where I get to see him on TV all the time, I'm going to miss his skating. Very much.

Interview with Kelly Rippon about being an Olympic Mom (go to p. 110) https://issuu.com/happeningsmagazinepa/docs/apr_18_issuu/2?ff=true

She just did some interview with Adam (and apparently Reese Witherspoon was also involved in some capacity?) but I have no idea what outlet it's for and when it's coming out

So Adam is working on a Broadway musical of his life?

https://www.pinknews.co.uk/2018/04/...own-life-tv-talent-search-to-find-mike-pence/

Adam Rippon is developing a Broadway musical based on his own life – with a TV talent search to find his Mike Pence.

The Olympic bronze medallist had previously confirmed that he would be moving away from ice skating to focus on media projects, and one of the projects in development by Rippon is already generating a lot of buzz.

The skater, who has demonstrated his impressive set of pipes on previous occasions, is set to star in a new Broadway show.

But this won’t just be any show, this will be Adam Rippon: The Experience.

^^^ Now THIS sounds like an April Fool's article to me.

ETA:

Re-posting from GSD:
I missed seeing this Los Angeles Times article by Helene Elliott that was published before the start of the Olympics (Feb. 4, 2018): For 3 figure skaters, the road to Pyeongchang goes through Rafael Arutunian's Lakewood workshop on ice
Besides Arutunian, it includes quotes from Chen, Rippon, Brezina and Kwan.
Here are the Adam-related excerpts:
Their support takes various forms. "Adam helps Nathan if something in his costume is wrong. And he fixes it. And then Nathan helps too. They try to help each other," said Arutunian, a native of Tbilisi, Georgia, a former Soviet republic that's now an independent country. "I try to be honest with all of them and that's why it's so nice to see if somebody's music does not play loud enough and somebody, a competitor, comes up and will fix it. That is interesting to see how they help each other. Fighting is only during competition."
More quietly, Arutunian helped ease the financial stress that impeded Rippon's path. When Rippon arrived in California a few years ago he could barely afford the gym membership he needed in order to stay in shape and he took apples and tea home from the gym so he wouldn't go hungry. Arutunian co-signed a car rental agreement with Rippon and let him defer paying for lessons.
Rippon has flourished since then, elevating his already lyrical skating. "I wanted so badly to be an Olympian, to be a good skater and I think Rafael saw that I was willing to do whatever it would take to make that happen," Rippon said. "And I have. It's amazing."
Arutunian downplayed his role in sustaining Rippon's career.
"Adam is one of the hardest-working guys I ever met. So I knew with my experience of teaching and his hard work, it could work," Arutunian said. "My experience would never help if he would not be that hard worker. I see he is a hard worker and I start to realize that I can help him get to Olympics. So that's what happened."
