It’s going to be really interesting to see who excels in the tango and who doesn’t. Example I’m not entirely sure how the Shibsibs will do

My guess for excelling would be P/C, W/P (if they stay), & H/D.

I'm also interested to see what S/B can do with it.

And they did so well with the Jackson medley and their 2001 OD.

Terrible choices in 98
I remember their cell block tango being highly criticized. I remember enjoying it at the time, but I’d have to go back and rewatch to see what I think of it now

Let's not forget Gilles and Poirier who should be at ease with this theme having danced a Tango FD last season. They did very well with so it should be interesting. But for sure the Danes, I can't wait to see their FD again at Worlds this year. I hope they'll go up the ranks.

This is what I mean when I mentioned earlier their acceleration. It was so sudden and unexpected but not obvious, with crossovers and effort. The only way I could tell was suddenly seeing the words on the rink board blur. They just looked like they were moving their feet. I rewound it showed it to my brother because I was so amazed. I actually love watching that part over and over.

Yes P/C have amazing skating skills besides being real dancers.

I was talking about their OD from 2001 not 2002. There Cell Block Tango was terrible looking back now lmao!!

P&C will rock the tango

Both Gabriella and Guillaume have always given me the impression that they're quite aware of what they want to do, express on the ice, etc. despite being so young. And I know we have no chance of knowing what's going on behind the scenes in Montréal, but I believe that if there was an issue, it would've shown over the time, especially during this Olympic season. So, if they're happy in Montréal, I don't want them to leave that place, ever. :D

Party time! https://78.media.tumblr.com/df7a94fd9dd04f896149eb0d4123a76b/tumblr_p4ijlzdCST1r0p4u6o1_540.jpg

We sometimes forget it's their 1st Olympic cycle only  That's a good thing I think ? If you make that impact without going to the Olympics yet, you're... pretty good.

And I believe they'll do very well in the future, and would want to develop as much as they can. I guess time will tell, right ? Most importantly, be healthy and stay away from injuries :gallopin1

Thank you so much for your detailed explanations on the situation with Gailhaguet and French figure skating.
You're welcome. I'm no insider though. Just long years of reading whatever was published about french figure skating, FFSG, declarations, stories ... It helps to spot patterns, arguments, trends.
Like this 2010 article where Gailhaguet trounced Joubert in the press during the Olympics and said he should be "open to the world", ie leave Poitiers. So by 2018, dots are easy to connect.

I along with so many others can't understand his longevity in a prominent position with all his really bad/shady politics for the clubs, the skaters and the federation itself.
Nobody understands but he has locked himself inside the federation.
In 2012, Candeloro said in a tv show he wants to become president in a few years but that he wants Gailhaguet to "give him the fed" because if he overthrows him, Gailhaguet is going to be a constant troublemaker.

He was a constant trouble maker between 2004 and 2006 when he was revoked from the FFSG. He used Joubert to make a war against the guys who were at the head of the fed, to make them look incompetent.
He got a guy he supported elected in 2006. But the guy wouldn't be a paw and didn't invite him back into the fed. So he made a coup a year and half later and got reelected.
And he has locked the system since then.

And now he is going after Haguenauer and P/C ...
He started to go after them loooooong ago, both Haguenauer and P/C
They are used to that and they are very independant-minded.
Haguenauer can do whatever he wants.
The problem is P/C and their funding. My hope is that they find a good sponsor so money wouldn't be a problem. While they are away from family and home, they can't afford to have late transfers, or battling with problems from the FFSG.

Gofundme could be an option. I wish other countries had an equivalent to b210. I really think they did an amazing job with V&M

OMG I knew Didier was bad and made trouble for P/C when they were in Lyon but this is... It's like the godfather or something hahaha :sekret:
And Candeloro president of the FFSG : I totally see him telling his bad (sexist) jokes wearing a suit! Hopefully he won't bring Nelson Monfort with him!!

LOL, I love how we're already on to the next season and looking towards music and dance choices for our favorite teams.

Well as far as I am concerned- we need to get these luvlies set up for the next 4 seasons and beyond... ;)

They could try something like this. The concept was an older brother passes the joy of dance to his sister. They had to do something unconventional because the girl was only 14. I can already hear the incessant complaining: It's not a tango, it's not authentic, they should get lower scores!

Both Candeloro and Monfort are the epitome of incompetent commentators and they never cease to speak nonsense during the dances. It's awful to Watch figure skating with these two. Annick Dumont is the only competent and respectful one.

I agree, I especially can't stand Monfort, it's like his goal is to leave no silence during a performance... I want to scream each time.
Annick is full of insight about the technical aspect so she's usefull. And she's silent during the performances...

Cannot agree more. The worst part of all is when they almost accused G&G not to properly respect Team France for not taking part in the Team Event.

We need new commentators like Florent Amodio to make this thing a little bit fresher and younger. There are also a couple a sports specialists that know a lot about figure skating and respect it too !

Co-worker came into my office today to discuss the FD. He has a bit of a hockey background and he gushed about how blown away he was by Guillaume's power in his skating. That's a supreme compliment coming from a hockey person.
I love this comment so much

I have been very frustrated these Olys because I have not been able to watch the SD live and only could watch part of the FD live and replays with those bozos talking my ear off. I have had no access to the vids linked here and I can't wait to have videos from other tv channels of all the figure skating events on you tube. I have not even seen S/M LP yet !

Oh yes that "criticism" about not taking part of team event was really the cherry on the cake. And Monfort is always repeating what he heard from Didier.. *sigh* they help in creating the controversies.
They'll not give people the will to watch figure skating if each time you're commenting you complain about lobbying!

Yes please give us Florent Amodio and Nathalie Péchalat on national tv.

If the commentators are not up to their task would it be possible to send feedback to the TV companies?

Some years ago I heard a TV commentator say that one skater in womens' competition was not thin enough. I thought about tweeting to the TV company but for some reason didn't do it. I still think I should have done something but now it's too late.

But people on twitter keep sending them messages (to @francetvsport). Also Nelson Monfort keep saying things that are wrong, mixing up simple skating moves when he is supposed to have been commentating skating for 30 years. He kept saying after V/M and P/C did their SD : "Beware of the Russian" when really he he followed the competition just a bit, that wouldn't be a factor whatsoever.
Candeloro got better and stopped the sexists jokes. A bit. He still makes them from time to time.
We need someone that's really following all of this ! Or at least is aware. I wish we could have our French Ben Agosto :wuzrobbed

Is anyone victim of an olympic burnout ? This schedule was nuts and there is still one to go tomorrow. It did take away a bit of the enjoyment tbh Being cranky certainly has a lot to do with it. Plus we can't get videos easily so the only commentaries I heard where during the live stream and it was in russian, boy can they talk even the kids keep mentioning it hearing so much Russian all season long :D Milano will be a breath of fresh air with the schedule and the choice of commentators available to us.

I am a bit, and the day between the 2 Ladies events doesn't help :cold: For me, it's 99% the schedule, it's just the worst part. Canot wait to be back on European schedule ! :cheer2: And can't wait for Milano too because we'll feel like it's back to normal
