They feel good, got settled, saw the village and trained at the rink. They feel committed and motivated.
Guillaume didn't follow much the team event (the question was especially asking about V/M's performance) except for the French athletes. He stayed in his bubble. Gaby looked at the scores but not really the competition. She wanted to take advantage of their last week in Montreal, focus on their training at home. They did like usual, same hours, same preparation they do before each competition. They want to treat this competition like something they already know.
About Pyeongchang: So far, they saw the cafeteria ... but they also watched the pairs. Very nice competition and Guillaume thinks it's nice dance is not the first event. Gaby says it's nice to be there and warm up to what's going on. It allows them to take a step back from their own discipline, they don't feel like the center of the world. They can take in the atmosphere and energy.
About pressure: they know they can win if they skate the perfect programs but nothing is certain. They can win as well as lose but they tried to put everything on their side not too. Gaby says they need to handle the pressure they're allowing themselves to have, they want to succeed.

Nobody ever believes me when I say they are more focused on the performance than on the result, but I stand by it :drama: I think they truly believe that, and it's one of their strengths.

Except in the interview at these Games, Papdakis stated for the team event she looked at scores. So clearly scores do count. ;)

If they only care about how they skate, why worry about the scores of others?

Roll eyes all you want but she is a competitor and wants to win. They are good enough to do it.

Just like Tessa and Scott, G&G want to win at the end of the day. Enjoying the process doesn't change the fact they want to win. ;)

If you don't get the nuance between "they don't care about winning" and "they care more about the performance than about winning", then little can be done to help. But I'm not too worried for you, I'm quite sure you do understand.

Lmao- love your snark bait but they wouldn't be competitors if they didn't want to win.

But do please carry on...

:blah:

I think what millyskate said is that yes, they'd like to win obviously, but even when you look at the scores you cannot do anything at the end of the day :) . Actually last year, it got them a bit lost that's why they are less focused on what the other will do but more on them... (They have no choice this time, they cannot afford to lose points like this because they want everything they can possibly have - A state of mind !) Let's say, a bit like the Shibs and less like Meagan Duhamel if you allow me the comparaison  (No one can beat her at calculating anyway...)

There's a difference between doing everything you absolutely can to be the best, which they clearly are doing, and wanting the win at all costs.
But to me, it permeates everything they've consistently said since the beginning of their careers, and also shines through in their parents' interviews posted in this thread.

For example, they're no Aljona - I don't see them staying 5 olympics just to win an elusive gold.

I hope checking the scores, and seeing no one beat their CoC scores with the same tech specialist, gave Gabriella a nice extra boost of confidence. I want her to take the ice like she owns the place like at the GPF SD.

An interview from Romain Haguenauer in french https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WJGZT1jx5Vk
Nothing new, Romain just stating again how they DHL approach coaching three top teams, trying to get the best out of each team and during the competition each couple do need a referent coach so no surprise here: Romain for P/C, Patch for H/D and Marie for V/M.
Did I mention I'm getting very stressed now that the next event is actually Dance ? I'll watch this with "la peur au ventre" roughly translated to fear in the pit of my stomach. I could watch Aljona and Bruno and the GPF live so I can do this.

Papadakis/Cizeron to skate second in the last group. Thoughts on the draw?
Good, after V/M like GPF. Not 1st, not last, what's not funny for the coaches is Gadbois going 1,2 and 3 :scream: Poor them as if it wasn't hard enough already !

While I think it´s good for them to skate after V/M I sure wished there would be at least one couple between them so they had the chance to not listen to the scores for V/M. Overall, I´m glad when this competition is over. My blood pressure will be insane ;) But I´m also looking so much forward to see them skate again :)

They've experienced the situation at the GPF so that's good at least but one couple in between would have been ideal.

I think the draw's quite good, esp. given the GPF situation. Even though it's a bit odd for me to have the top teams at the beginning.
Well, whatever happens, I just want them to be satisfied with their performances. It's only Saturday and I'm getting nervous already... I fully agree now with those who wish the Games are already over.

Interview with Nathalie Pechalat : http://rmcsport.bfmtv.com/mediaplay...il-va-falloir-battre-des-records-1037285.html

Translation :

NP :How do you feel on Olympic ice and for the games ?

GC : Good, feeling of warth in the rink and good feeling on the ice. Ice is quite slippery though (Gaby + Nathalie =)

NP : Any stress compared to Worlds or Euros ?

GC : Not at all (he sounds ironic though)
GP : different energy, I expected it bigger and more stressful, in the end the energy is family-like, chill, it makes us want to performe.
GC : Really ? (they all laugh)
NP : It's the skating family.
GC : I wouldn't go that far, but the environment is really about the game, everyone is here to play. True, there are big consequences in the end but everyone is here to have fun and deliver.

NP : Apparently there big surprises (in programs) and that's why you stayed in Montreal. Any details ?

GC : Triple Loop... triple twist. :D
GP : A Quad. (They all laugh)
GC : We stayed one more week for polishing, training, detailing, it helped us mentally and physically, we feel ready. It's nice to arrive and be "fresh", good timing or us.
GP : A lot arrived at the beginning (they keep laughing for nothing #insidejokes), they're already fed up, or feel the tiredness of being here for so long.

NP : you kept beating you WR this season. Goal : catch that gold. Is there also a goal of beating your own record, is it more like a duel, do you see yourselves as favourite...?
GP : A bit of everything is true, we're focusing on beating our own records in terms of performances, not points. To win, we'll probably have to beat a record, but now it's to focus on having the best performances possible.
GC : We're not trying to qualify ourselves as favourites or whatever, we have a chance of winning if we're clean and even more. Goal : an almost perfect Tech score and emotionnally deliver. Having a lot of fun in the SD and give everything we have on the FD, we don't want to have any regrets (in the end).

Guillaume's answer makes me think the changes they've made are small details. Maybe the "big surprises" from that announcement was a miscommunication? I wondered why they would change their programs significantly with so little time left when they were already so close to max GOEs and 10s on everything.

may be a little information about a change : https://www.instagram.com/p/BfSGRmxjJLU/

Looks like they're running through the FD mid-line step.
