It's a shame Josh never got to do any shows in Japan - I bet he would have gotten an insanely great following!

The love shown to Josh so far is overwhelming - I hope he knows this now or soon. It must have been so brave for him, given how little he even tweets, to post this need for something that will hopefully help him recover.

I hope that in a few months, when he hopefully feels better, we get an update from Nick McCarvel - Josh seems to be comfortable doing interviews with him.

You know with all the hype and drooling tonight from the commentators about all the quads Nathan and Vincent were doing it would have been nice if they had mentioned this. Not only to recognize a member of their community but also to say just how dangerous this sport really is. They didn't do either but I guess the news wasn't that well known by the people at nationals yet as it was online

I donated today, a popular Korean figure skating fan posted it on their twitter with a translation into Korean earlier this afternoon and there were a flurry of donations after too. He must've captured their hearts back in 2015 Seoul 4CC when he won silver.

This makes my heart hurt. I desperately hope he can lead a healthy, happy, relatively normal life some day. I suppose being able to work 2 hours is better than not being able to work at all.

Kudos to both Tim Dolensky and Joe Johnson who retweeted the post. I hope a few of the bigger names do the same.

I agree, it's not like $4300 is an astronomical amount but he had to ask the public and got the funds in 2 hours. Like seriously USFS?

I will admit that I'm getting a tad angry at USFS for (at least in appearance) not supporting Joshua more with his recovery efforts. Don't tell me that they wouldn't be able to find connections to rehabs/non profits that would help him in figuring out treatments and/or affordability. Or what about the USOC?

USFS hasn't even retweeted his tweet for the GoFundMe. That would have been the easiest thing for them to do.

BTW - it's been 23 hours and the Go Fund Me is just over $11,000. I hope this assistance helps him fully recover and do whatever he wants to do in his life.

I'm cautiously hopeful that they are needing only $4,300 is a sign that his situation is reasonably recoverable. $4,300 is a low amount for medical expenses in the U.S. In 2016, I had some common dental work done - including fillings, crowns, and then I started Invisalign and my out of pocket costs that year were about $8,000. That doesn't count what my insurance paid. (To be fair, Invisalign wasn't covered at all and I don't know anyone who has gotten it covered by insurance.)

I'm happy for Josh he was able to help pay for this expense. It's a horrifying situation his health is so compromised.

But it makes me so sad for all the unnamed skaters who have these sorts of injuries and have left before they've become known. How many injured skaters are out there that we don't know about, who don't have help with these bills?

Only once - the NHK Trophy in 2014. It was after he'd had yet another ankle injury and he rushed back too soon; his skates there were a bit of a disaster, but it was the first outing of Give Me Love and the revamped Schindler's List and the main thing I noticed there at the time was that the Japanese crowds loved both programs, even if the jumps were a disaster. IIRC the Japanese fans really, really, really liked Give Me Love.

(I'd like to reassure the lady in the comments section - I doubt Damon Allen and the Kaugars would have donated to just anybody saying they were raising on Josh's behalf - but it's glitching.)

Omigod what a horrible thought, that anyone would try to take advantage of someone’s medical condition like that. I guess it’s hardly unprecedented, but still. I wonder if someone at USFS could find out from Josh’s family. Given that they’ve far exceeded their goal so quickly, is it strange that there hasn’t been any follow up /thank you from Josh’s account or by the person named as the organizer? I don’t know.
