Who do you want to win the GPF

My heart wants Zagitova. I didn't care before, but her LP in France changed my mind, it does works really well.
2nd choice : Wakaba, because it's Japan and Japanese FS fans are the best and I would be thrilled for them to see if this happens.
However, anyone winning is okay for me, these are just some slightly preferences. I kinda like all of them. :biggrinbo
 
If Medvedeva hasn't withdrawn, then . . . her! Vote casted.

I am more interested in seeing if Mishin gets Carolina to unveil a solo 3Lz at the GPF.

I suspect that Mishin might be able to get a 3Lz, 3F, 3F combo, 3T-3T, 3Lp, 3S, 2A program out of Carolina by the Olympics.

I cannot believe Janny hasn't withdrawn yet. I think she's out of her mind if she doesn't. Not that she asked me. :) But she needs to be more concerned about her Olympic chances than the GPF!

Anyway, I don't know who I want to win. I'd say Kaetlyn, but that might put too much pressure on her going into the Olympics; maybe it's better for her if she can fly under the radar. If Janny got out and Satoko got in, I would say Satoko, as I think, in her case, it might be just the boost she needs.
 
Tough choice. Too many favorites. My heart says, how about a six-way tie?! o_O

One thing is for sure, I am going to enjoy this GPF. Great lineup! And, if Med is unable to go and Satoko is there, my vote(s) will remain the same. (y)
 
If Medvedeva doesn't compete, I want Kostner, Osmond or Higuchi to win.
But it will probably be Zagitova if Medvedeva is not there.
 
I'd really like Wakaba to deliver two flawless performances here and grab the title. Her programs are my favorite from any lady this season :)
It'd be nice as well to see Satoko win if Medvedeva withdrawals, since she's been silver for two seasons in a row... :shuffle:
 
Probably Kaetlyn. She's hands-down the best in the world, when it comes to overall quality of elements and basic skating. I do miss the younger Kaetlyn, her programs were much more interesting before even though she was more rough-around-the-edges. Swan Lake is honestly a bit bland IMO.

Wakaba is a close 2nd. She's been skating like a boss this year, even if the judges are not giving her enough credit.

- I admire Evgenia's competitive grit and complex programs, but I don't enjoy her skating as much. She needs to improve her skating skills, but with her PCS, but probably doesn't have much incentive to do so.
- Ditto for Alina. It left a foul taste in my mouth that she can bomb the SP and still win a GP event when the rest of the field skates so well. She's a strong jumper and spinner, and is performing Don Quixote with more confidence, but the quality of her skating isn't there yet.
- Kostner's long is sublime, but I don't care as much for her short, and I certainly don't want a skater with Murakami tech content winning the GPF.
- And Sotskova is, well... Sotskova.
 
If I have to be realistic, well then:
Osmond'a short is great, truly great, her long is hard to accept, I try hard to see it outside of ballet, it is not ballet but it also is not a quality modern interpretation. It's very interesting that someone is doing something so well executed but not at all interpreted nor performed with line and sensitivity to the role. The difference for me between her components and Kostner's is that Carolina is authentic, she feels the music and raw pain of Ne Me Quitte Pas and her Debussy is a statement that takes you to a mythological place supported by extremely high high refinement. Carolina's jumps are not the highest scoring but I'd give my eye teeth to achieve such quality of take off, height distance and clean landing. Osmond is very well trained, her coach like an unsung hero of skating, I love the power and freedom of her jumps when done well, she spins well too! Why does Canadian broadcast downplay her coach's genius? Anyway, I'm ecstatic they both are in the mix, also because maybe, just maybe if miracles happen, a panel watches them both and sees how superior they are to the reputation of Medvedeva. It's like watching the mime (Medvedeva) on the entrance to the Musee D'Orsay, as fun as it is, to get inside to the real art.
Zagitova, come on. My daughters used to compete in dance, we dressed them up and they took to the role, but there was no sincerity, quality and refinement compared to what the truth of the roles their coaches chose.
Take away her jumps and tutu, and the fact that she's new, and now what do you see?

The main factor that affects the results will be whether or not Alina can skate a clean short program. If she can, her chance of winning is pretty good. With that said, Japanese skaters do get inflated scores on home territory. I'm still very puzzled over Mai's 147+ score at Japan Open.. So if Satoko skates cleanly and the judges decide not to call UR on any of her jumps, her chance is also very good.
 
I am hoping to see Osmond shaking off her previous error filled LP's and just attack everything from A-Z.. I am very curious to see what a clean Osmond would actually score comparing to Med/Zag..

Also interested to see if Kostner will attempt her Lutz again and she will always be a dark horse if skating a fairly clean 7 triples LP.
