Since we have a favorite Free Dance of the Season Poll, I figured it would be nice to have a favorite Short Dance poll now that we've completed the GP series and are heading into the GPF and the second half of the season.

This is a free forum and people can post what they want, but I rather not have this thread dominated by talk about how much the Latin rhythm sucks and how this is a horrible year for SDs, how the skaters aren't Latin enough, etc. Let's try to get into the SDs you may like.

As for the choices, I just went in order of the top SD scores of the season. Doing it this way left some of my personal favorites out like Fournier Beaudry/Sorensen, Coomes/Buckland, Gilles/Poirier, and Muramoto/Reed among others, but that's what the other option is for. I decided to make this an anonymous poll.

Weaver & Poje is my fav just cause it makes me smile. Love the costumes.

Yes and honorable mention for Muramoto & Reed! They are doing so well, I love that dance.

I just want to give Jean-Luc Baker a shout-out for probably being one of the best male Latin dancers competing right now. He and Kaitlyn were on fire at SA even if their levels on the twizzles were not.

Also, despite what some may think about Gilles/Poirier's SD, their SD has a lot of intricate difficulty and changes of hold that I can definitely see on the ballroom floor but in a way that looks more real life than an OTT ballroom competition if that makes sense. I also love that their circular SBS step doesn't look like one but part of a whole dance.

I don't particularly like any SD this season.
Music choice, choreography, I'm not fond of any.
And I'm really disappointed by the fact that there is only one sequece of the Rhumba, I think it would have been so much better with a full turn of the ice rink !

Hubbell/Donohue and Maia/Alex.

Also love V/M and P/C dances in terms of choreo and body movements (Tessa is the goddes :kickass:), but I don’t think that Ed Sheeran or The Eagles/ The Rolling Stones work well for a Latin SD :slinkaway

That's what I'm disappointed with too. I wish we could see more rhumba.

Anyway I like SDs of P/C, H/B and H/D.

I voted P&C. I like V&M choreo better actually but overall I went with P&C cause I do not like V&M music selection, for this type of dance.

Choreographically and music wise it's Coomes/Buckland, now if I say as a whole (choreohraphy, interpretation, body movement etc) P/C's is the one I've rewatched the most. The Shibs' SD is not far behind.

Muramoto/Reed and Smart/Díaz are not in the poll but they have great programs and they dance really well, some skaters seem to be having a good time dancing but they do not dance very well, basically as if I started dancing alone in my house, having a good time but with a mediocre dance, but M/R and S/D look like the kind of guys that you would turn to see if they were dancing in a club, IMO.

Still haven't seen the Shibs yet.
Was hoping to see it last weekend but the coverage sucked.
V and M
W and P
S and D.
H and D
So far...
