Honestly, I feel Piper and Paul are one of the very few ice dance teams who are in fact extremely versatile. They can perform any style of dance and express music from any era. One has only to look back at their very different SD's and FD'S since they became a team, to see actual diversity and their own excellent rate of growth as BOLD and AUDACIOUS, ATHLETIC, FUN/QUIRKY/COMICAL and even SUBTLE/SULTRY/ROMANTIC performer's given last season's stunning tango! So, if they do decide to go in a lyrical/modern dance direction, you can bet it won't be cookie cutter choreography, or movement like anybody else would perform, they will somehow own it and express it and perform the hec out of it, and you can count on a unique Piper/Paul twist that elevates their programs from good, to extraordinary. Unlike other teams who seem to have to repeat themselves, Piper and Paul take on new challenges every season. I can't wait to see what they have in store for us this coming season and more importantly as they completely mature as Ice dancer's over the next Olympic cycle...Hang on to your hats folks, the 2018 Canadian Olympic ice dance team likely composed of Virtue/Moir, Weaver/Poje, and Gilles/Poirier (order yet to be determined) will be truly epic, possibly the best compliment of uber talented Ice dancer's Canada has ever sent to a games! Each team unique and extraordinary in their own way, each a valuable gem, the problem is deciding between G/P's multi-colored, rare black, or fire opal, W/P's elegant, classy, timeless sapphire, or the rarest of the rare pink star, or the Moussaieff red diamond that is Virtue/Moir. all rare and precious and very beautiful, each with their own charm. I am excited to see how it will all shake out; are you?
