Really, part deux

Good morning... and it is!

Last night, Lee started to have some almost-awake moments (REM, facial reactions, squeezing my hand when I talked to her), and when I left I was a lot less concerned than the ICU staff... I've seen this before, in Neuro, and this was surgical ICU.

Lee was awake when I walked into ICU at 0730. Not looking happy that the airway was still in... but by 0900 she had passed the tests and they extubated her.

She has been cleaned up, spent time with an OT doing some stretching, and is having another nap. (Did I mention that the girl likes her sleep?).

Thanks for holding her in your thoughts.

Glad to hear she's through surgery and hope this is the beginning of a full recovery!

To quote some literary guy, "... miles to go before I sleep."

But thanks for the thought. I'm sure I'll have a quiet collapse for a few days once I get her back. She is closer to being able to advocate for herself than she has been in a few months...

I understand, I really do, but crashing and burning won't help anyone. Don't push yourself too far. Been there, done that too many times.

So glad to hear that she is actively participating. It is so frustrating for an independent person to have to rely on others for everything..take care

The images don't work but, since your goal was $2000, I think the team did really well :D

Bentley School's support for the young walkers was wonderful :cheer:

Wahoo! Doctors here at the University Hospital figure we have started the long uphill climb... Urology says no more kidney infection, they took her ureter stents out, Interventional Radiology pulled her IVC filter out yesterday morning, and its time to return to our little rural hospital to get stronger while we wait to get into rehab.

As soon as the ambulance gets here, we are on the road!
