Savchenko/Massot Fan Thread

Why did she change her SP dress ??? It was lovely, fitting with the music style and contrasting with his grey outfit. I don't like the new one, too grey and the cut is not special. Bring it back Aljona please.
I would like them to have a clean performance rather sooner than later but I guess they'd like it too ;)

I agree. It doesn't particularly capture the mood of the music either if you ask me

Aliona is IMO being stubborn about that throw being last. When has it worked? Also, to me, the throws are their weakest element, so why the hell a throw Triple, much less a throw quad would be last, I don't know. Now, i've given others a hard time about this type of thing so let me say, perhaps they are doing it every day in practice. She did look shocked that it didn't work today but honestly, their throws in general are a bit out of control . Throw Axel and throw quad? Exciting as hell and considering nobody at the event could really beat them, it was probably wise to try it here but i'm still waiting on clean throws from these two.

They should put a disclaimer on Bruno's pantleg in the LP like Hanyu's SP costume. "Warning. The end of this program might cause you to soil your pants." He could fit it all on there somehow.

I love love love their programs. They're both batsh!t crazy, what can I say they've got my heart. the Thelma and Louise ending is just the sad reality we're left to deal with.

Honestly if anybody ever could do it it's her.. maybe he could practice javelin throwing after running for 3 miles on the side while his legs are ready to collapse. And she can just duct tape and pray. :coffee:

What I love are the utter shock the commentators are in when they realize what crazy move those two tried to pull off. John Coughlin could even recover and the spanish lady just gasp so hard.
Also, may I say how much I am entertained by their Gala routine. Those two just crack me up and make me emotional at the same time.
But they just should move that quad throw to the beginning of the program though, please :drama:

She said a fall on the quad at the end of the program is equal to a two-footed 3A in points when you factor in the bonus, so they figure it's worth the risk. Plus, she lands it enough in practice to make it worth it. Moreover, Duhamel/Rad are doing both a 3A and a quad and she can't let that happen. At worlds, or the Olympics, they can win if they land the jumps because all the other elements are that much better. They have to be competitive with the Chinese and D/R for now. Sadly, the Russians have taken themselves out of contention at the moment.

Does she land the throw in practice, or does she land the throw after 4 minutes of skating at the end of a full long program-runthrough in practice?

It's worth the same amount of points at 3-3:30 in the program? When their arms/legs aren't made of deadwood and held together with glue.

It needs to be moved away from the end, she's just sooo ambitious it's totally amazing.

i really prefer aliona's pink SP costume to the red/gray one she wore in rostelecom. fits better with the music. in fact, i even think their SP costumes are better than what papadakis/cizeron are wearing for their SD with a similar section of music.

for them to win OG, they should clean up their throws. they keep practicing their quad throws, but can't even get their triple throws consistently clean/landed.

I'm so happy for them, it was such a better outing than at CoR. I love her dress and I'm thrilled she ditched the grey one. I hope they can deliver a good performance too today, I love their FP, it could even compete in the ice dance field. More ice dancers should world with John Kerr.

Yes. Their throws are a BIG problem. The judges clearly adore this team and want to give them all the gold medals in the world, but one of these days they will actually have to land one clean throw!

I have got mixed feelings about this. On one side I have huge respect for pushing the level of difficulty, but on the other hand, their programs were full of mistakes and I don't feel that it influenced their marks in any way. Side by side jumps, falls on throws, or double footed and step out of throw jumps... if the messy quad will be having value that is comparable to clean triple, soon everyone will be trying messy quads. Should the goal be a throw with lovely height and distance and nice running edge if messy quad landed on two feet and with step forward has same value?

Ditch the quad at the end. Rest the ankle. Work on a quad twist. No more quad at the very end, it can go somewhere else and still get the bonus. The bottom line is the quad at the end of the program needs to go. :bloc:

I'm very optimistic about their season, the judges majorly prefer their material to all of the teams (so far). Stay healthy and train smart. They're too good to be getting only a level 2 3twist, either work on a level 4 or start pushing the quad twist (it'll help both the SP and LP TES with a level 4..). They should be getting closer to 10 points on this element.

2 golds in their first 2 GP events! :respec: :glamor: :psoty:

I just want them to go back to doing two throw triples rather than axels & quads. Even just to build confidence & momentum. It really harmed her & Robin's Olympic chances in the lead up to 2014.
I would much rather see them skate clean then keep falling all the time.
I understand they feel the need to compete with what D/R are doing but they for me have much better transitions than D/R & are choreographically more interesting.

that's the thing. you may have the best choreography in the world, but do the judges reward that? they reward the elements more

I think so too-a clean triple axel and quad throw salchow will put the canadians in first if they skate clean no matter what the others do. Which is really sad but true...

Going by the marks the judges give D/R, no.
It seems to me that if they go clean they can't lose even if another couple are better in every other thing but the jumps.

She's in danglefoot - yet is still not impressed that the twist is only a level 2. Badass. You better not let those judges dishonor (disobey) your greatness. :drama::summer: How can anybody not think she rocks?

Her hubbys comments are usually a riot
I was about to post the same link as I'm listening to Patrick Watson singing Lighthouse. Such an amazing photos and this song and FD I just love it. I want it clean so I can fully enjoy the experience like an ice dance FD.
