Yuzuru Hanyu Cheer Thread

Morozombie has written a new blog entry about men event at Shanghai:

Despite this season undoubtedly being his annus horribilis, Yuzuru Hanyu placed second overall at Worlds, winning the short program but falling to third in the long. In most other circumstances, a silver medal at Worlds would be disappointing to a reigning World and Olympic champion, but in the context of Mr. Hanyu's bizarrely extensive litany of illnesses and injuries he has suffered this season, it's difficult to see the World silver as anything but a triumph. I was most impressed by Mr. Hanyu's sheer determination in the long program--after catastrophically blowing his first two jumping passes, Mr. Hanyu pulled himself together and nailed the rest of the program. Somehow he managed to remain upright despite his jumps not being anywhere near his best (some of them tilted, tight, landed with little flow). It was sheer force of will landing those jumps, and it reminded me of Elena Radionova's tenacious and equally admirable performance just a few hours prior.

As for the short program--I can think of no higher compliment to give but to say that I do not think that Mr. Hanyu would've been capable of adequately skating his Chopin short program as little as two or even one year ago. It really speaks to his development as a skater--despite my common use of that epithet in the past, I would not call Mr. Hanyu a wet noodle given how he skates now. It's extremely impressive how Mr. Orser was able to excise the ragged gangliness from Mr. Hanyu's skating, as well as increase the quality of his skating skills and stamina. Had Mr. Hanyu been healthy (or even just slightly less banged-up this season), I have little doubt that Mr. Hanyu would be the 2015 World Champion. Even skating nowhere near his best, Mr. Hanyu lost the world title by under three points. For next season, then, I hope Mr. Hanyu will be able to remain healthy as well as bring back the beautiful original choreography of his Chopin short program.

Meoima, can you or someone else think of a phrase to replace/update "(hopefully) Road to Sochi" in this thread title? Then perhaps you could PM a FSU admin. to get it changed. :)

Thank you for your suggestion, the name has been changed.
Here's happy trio. http://nonchan1023.tumblr.com/post/115036577128/happy-papa-orser
And it's funny Yuzuru said to him Javi is like big brother, a member of his family, then he said Orser is like his MOTHER who is very caring. I guess from now on I should call Orser as mama Orser, not papa Orser ha ha.

Just saw in the new today, Yuzuru will go for World Team Trophy. This is my last hope for a clean Chopin. I hope he will be alright. :saint:

All I can say is my respect for Hanyu (already high) is now through the roof after this season. I just can't believe all the obstacles he's faced and how he overcame them all and still delivered 2 strong performances at Worlds. I really think he is mentally the strongest skater I've ever seen--ever. And of course so amazingly, prodigiously talented on the ice.

Like @Vash01 , my worry with Hanyu is that his will might at times be greater than his body can endure. Basically, I just want him to take care of himself. Please take a long rest after WTT, Yuzuru, and heal completely! Then return to Toronto to prepare for hopefully a much quieter season next year.

Don't worry about Yuzu you will give yourself to much stress. :)

I noticed at Worlds that Yuzu looked much better psychically then he did at the beginning of the season. He has
lost that gangly teen look. I think he has filled out some and yes that suit looks good!

He underwent surgery for the first time in his life and received a 4cm long cut. They used a thread that would dissolve in the body after a time, but the part of the thread has not dissolved and came out of his body. He now has an infection around the affected area. To remove the part, he needs a simple surgery, but considering the lack of time before WTT, he decided not to have the surgery ((before WTT??)). He will train and condition himself and go into the competition with the problem in his abdomen, those muscles are required contracted during jumps.
From the other forum.

Victor from Yuzuru's fan thread in GS has just translated Yuzuru's interview with Canon. I hope people can enjoy. Please visit: http://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/ind...rview-brian-is-sometimes-like-a-mother.95316/
The interview was original from here: http://www.goldenskate.com/forum/sh...nyu-interview-with-Canon-after-FS-in-Shanghai

An ex-skater has written a blog entry about Yuzuru's ritual before each performance: https://sportymags.wordpress.com/2015/04/04/yuzuru-hanyu-rituals/
After a good performance, in the Kiss and Cry area, Yuzu will always make time to shake Pooh’s paw or have Pooh play with the cameras. Of course, recently at the 2015 Worlds, Yuzu killed us with his adorableness playing with Pooh which I covered in my previous post (pictures and links).

What second surgery? :(
According to Japanese media:
He underwent surgery for the first time in his life and received a 4cm long cut after National. It's just a minor surgery and nothing serious but I assume he has to take medicine so it hurt less.

I knew about the first surgery but I didn't know about the infection. I'm sorry but I'm glad is nothing serious. What's a thread in this case?

It's surgical suture (stitches). His body is super sensitive he is allergic to many medicines so maybe this time the dissolvable stitches didn't dissolve thus he has infection. Actually he has had infection before WC in Shanghai as the media said but he postponed the surgery for competition.
After WC at Shanghai didn't go well I guess he wanted some revenge at WTT so the second surgery has been postponed further. Well it's just minor so as long as he takes medication it's nothing serious but obviously he needs to get surgery sooner or later. Now that the season has ended he can finally take a rest.

Thanks Meoima.:) I'm glad this season is over, finally.
Wish him all the best. :saint:

Hope Javier enjoys being WC because if Hanyu comes back next season healthy he will be unbeatable because he will be hungry to get his title back and when he skates like that he can't be beat.
