Oh gosh .... Shaidorov .... not this again. I had managed to make myself forget about it. Apparently I must have watched at least part of another gala this season because I do remember seeing him in this costume.

And was he the reason why Rudy Galindo didn't get to be in Stars on Ice?
Maybe. To be absolutely fair, Hamilton has admitted to being homophobic in the past and has made some strides to get better/become more educated. He doesn't always succeed and some of his comments can be :yikes: , but just wanted to say he, at times, tries to be more aware now. The problem is, I still remember then. It's not necessarily fair, but there it is.

OMG, Shaidarov, and Berulava. I might have to start rooting for the Georgian pairs. LOVE IT.

I really hope Hase/Volodin will break out of this ballad/classical mode at some point - this feels very similar to their short program to me. Beautiful program/music, but I want to see something different.

Didn't he pick the entire cast? If so, he technically was regardless of the reason.
We had two major tours in North America at that time - SOI and Champions on Ice. There were tons of skaters with a lot more international hardware than Rudy to choose from for SOI - though there were plenty to go around still for COI. I don't think Galindo's sexuality had anything to do with Scott or the SOI producers not adding him to the cast, especially when you consider who SOI had during the late '90s and early '00s. Steven Cousins is the only person who got added to that cast as a "friend of Scott" - the rest were Olympic & multi-time Worlds medalists.

I'm very happy for Alysa and she is a very deserving Worlds Champion, but I hope Kaori comes back next year and has her revenge in Milan.

Kaori's skating is always such a stunning experience. Love her. I do wish, though, that she'd ditch the blond hair. I think her natural dark hair looks so much better on her.

Except at the time, SoI said something to the effect that SoI was a family-friendly show and Rudy wasn't family-friendly. There was a big todo about it.

I mean, maybe there's something to the idea... Boitano also never was invited to join SOI and instead did COI.

Brilliant skating aside, Yuma is so cute you can't help but love him. Speaking of CUTE .... that tiny boy in the audience with the Japanese flag! ❤️
