A beautiful skate - a little problem with final spin - didn't get the Biellmann into the full position. It's not enough to win, but it is a quality skate that was worth watching.

Jia’s not my fave, but I really admire the height on the jumps. And she’s already pretty much in her adult body, so may have staying power. Nice job.

Kind of a shame that Jia came closest to winning on her first silver when her skating has improved so much in the last two years, but Mao is undeniable technically. I still dispute that Isabeau had very generous calling when she won.

Jia Shin with a world junior silver medal for the third year in a row. It sucks because she's so good, but I take comfort knowing that she'll only be stuck in juniors for one more year. I hope she'll get many senior titles. Nice to see the judges rewarding her with the highest PCS of the night.

Shimada - The state of greatness in today’s female figure skating.Everything lovely!
We`re in a new world where we don`t know exactly how to manage young superior skaters. If I was Shimada`s federation I`d be tempted to reduce her competitions the next two seasons. She could be Olympic champion but injuries from so much competing could put that in a kibosh.

I don’t think she needs to compete less (as a junior she already has fewer). The continued use of the quad, on the other hand, makes zero sense to me when she should be focused on making it to 2030.

For all the complaining, Sherry finished 7th in a tough field at her first JW. And yes Everhardt would have done better than Lee, plausibly, but we keep the two spots which is right given how much good competition there is.
The thing about Sherry is that even when she makes mistakes, she still scores relatively well. She’s had a good season and I hope she can build on this next year.

Sherry’s jumps (when she lands them) are of an amazing quality. She is one of the few skaters out there that lands the jump with more speed then she enters it with, and the glide coming out is very nice as well. She also has very good spins. Now she needs consistency (especially in the short program).
There is no denying that Mao Shimada is a fabulous skater. That program is blah though. She actually has good presentation, give her something better! I just don’t know how she is going to manage to stay healthy and motivated until 2030. That’s a LONG time….
Jia Shin is a beautiful skater and has nice jumps, loved this program. However, she doesn’t finish off any of her landings or positions. A little more stretch and a pointed toe would go such a long way for her.
My prediction is that Jia will end up being the more successful of the two of them in Senior. She definitely lucked out with the age change. I hope that the Korean fed doesn’t over compete her like they do all their seniors (and seemingly their Juniors as well this year). She has two things most of the Korean Ladies don’t have…clean jumps and consistency.
Overall a strong event, I’m excited to see them develop. It looks like most of these skaters aren’t eligible for Senior next year so we will see them back here at JW.

Jia wuzrobbed, IMO. Her presentation is more mature, and her jumps get more amplitude (even though both she and Mao do them with flawed technique). I really thought Jia should have been the JWC.

I know Mao has the BV, but... eh in this case. Both her 3A and 4T were barely rotated at best (yet the 4T got huge GOE), and while she has the right edge, that Lutz is just not good (yet garnering >= +2 GOE on both her passes...). The Flip was totally off too.

Yes, I really appreciate Sherry's speed & attack - she had the 6th highest PCS today (highest aside from the medalists & 2 others in the final group).

She said in the mixed zone: "In the off season I want to work on my components more and also solidify my 3-3 combinations" [besides 3T+3T, I assume]: https://www.instagram.com/p/C3-JUuup6sI/

Awwww…Sherry on a roll until falls on flip & salchow. 😭
Everhardt anywhere around?

Lol

I was always a supporter of everhardt being sent to junior worlds or anything for that matter. Yes, her artistry is still on the junior side, but her technical improved every single outing and was so strong by nationals. Lee, on the other hand, the silver medalist, gets generous calls from the US panel, but an international panel sets it straight. USFSA seems to never learn.

I see everhardt, placing in the top 10 in this field, with how she had been on her trajectory all season.

Was there a time where a country could earn three spots for a junior Grand Prix event if it was not a hosted event?

I don't recall this ever happening before? The point of the JGP is to give young skaters from as many different countries as possible, esp. the smaller ones, the chance to compete.

I see everhardt, placing in the top 10 in this field, with how she had been on her trajectory all season.
What do you mean by "trajectory"? In any case, had she placed top 10 in her first Junior Worlds that wouldn't have changed the number of spots for next season's JGP & Junior Worlds.
