Wild prediction: Sotnikova will return

I honestly think part of the reason we havent seen much of her (far from the only one but one of numerous) is she knew the next Olympics would be in South Korea and for obvious reasons she would want to have gone to an Olympics in South Korea anyway. Now with that behind us, with the most lucrative period for her as a touring commodity in Russia now over as her Olympic reign period is now over (and new stars like Med. and Zag. have emerged), and hopefully with the injuries behind her, I could see her returning even though I know many count her as basically retired already. We will see, but just a feeling I have. I think she would like to try and get a world medal and European title before retiring.

If she gets her jumps back, I can see her win a European medal. A world medal may be a stretch, and European title may not be possible either.

I don't know. I'm not sure if she'd want to return to be beaten by Zag and Med, not to mention maybe some other Russians. She might end up like Tuk/Radionova/Leonova, unable to get out of her country to Worlds or Euros.

I'm not sure if I agree that this prediction is "wild." I think what would be wild for Adelina is if she not only came back and won important medals but did it with really unusual programs. Something sexy like "He's A Real Big Spender" and then a contrast, something very elegant like reminiscing about Ross Miner's Queen program this year.

Oh please. Eteri has numerous girls lining up to be the next OGM. Adelina doesnt even stand a chance.

I guess we will see. I dont even expect Zagitova to continue so I dont see her losing to Zagitova as Zag. probably wont be there. Yes Medvedeva would be hard to beat due to her consistency, but who knows if her Oly loss will affect her confidence.

I know she isnt popular on this site but I think Sotnikova even today arguably has the most potential of any Russian lady skater, as great as they are because:

1. Her jumps are by far the highest of any Russian lady. Isnt one of the reasons she beat Yu Na Kim (yes I know controversially, etc...) was her jumps were all equaly high and some were higher? I think they did a graph or something on goldenskate this was proven. And Yu Na Kim had huge jumps, certainly higher than Zagitova, Medvedeva, Radionova, Sotskova, et al so Sotnikova's jumps must be much higher than those.

2. Her spins are by far the best of any Russian lady. Medvedeva and Zagitova have very strong spins, but Lipnitskaia was the only Russian, perhaps the only one in the world, who matched her spins at the time. One reason she did win over Kim and Kostner, even with the controversy, was her spins were much better than theirs.

3. While many of the Russians are very strong artistically, Medvedeva imparticular, and if she comes back Anna P, Sotnikova probably has the most artistic maturity of all the Russians, which sets her apart.
