At an event celebrating the completion of a high-rise apartment building he produced, Daisuke #Takahashi said he’ll #compete #next #season. He said perhaps he’d like to go to a B-level international competition, but GP Series hasn’t entered his mind.

Daisuke said he’s thinking of starting from regionals again. (Not stated in article, but as a medalist at Nationals, he will be seeded next season, making regionals and sectionals not mandatory.)

He said he’d like to perfect 4S and have 1 quad each in the short and free.

During the ceremony for the Okayama Skating Federation 50th Anniversary held on June 15th, Daisuke Takahashi was awarded an honor award for changing the view on Men's figure skating and for playing an important role in establishing and mantaining various rinks such as the one in his hometown of Kurashiki.

When he later spoke to the press, he said he is not setting limits for the 2019-20 season, and that he is willing to compete internationally. He stated he is well aware he was lucky last year when he came 2nd at Japan Nationals and that it will be very hard this season but, should the accasion present itself, he will be glad to challenge the Worlds and willing to partecipate in minor competitions abroad to get a minimum score.

He will keep last season's FS "Pale Green Ghosts" (B. Richaud) and change his SP.
It will be an up-tempo piece which he hasn't done in a while and says he wants to do while he still can ;) . It will be choreographed at the end of July, once he is done with his new show "Hyoen 2019 - Like the Moonlight" (Yokohama, July 26-28).

Congrats to Dai, well deserved honor! He has given time and energy to so many good causes
over the years. He is definitely a skater who continues to give back.

I am excited about the upcoming season and to see PGG again and of course looking forward
to his uptempo new SP. In the meanwhile Hyoen 2019 will be here before we know it.

From the Official Site

Daisuke Takahashi's program song for this season have been decided.

Short Program
The Phoenix - Fall Out Boy
Choreographers: Sheryl Murakami, Yuko Kai, Misha Gee

Free Skate
Pale Green Ghosts - John Grant (with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra)
Choreographer: Benoit Richaud

Message from Daisuke Takahashi:
" For the new seasos short program, I asked Cheryl Murakami who also choreographed Beyonce. In addition, Misha Ge was asked to participate in this project, and it became the first collaboration project with choreography and skating techniques full of ideas. I think Cheryl, Misha, and choreographer Yuko Kai had a hard time meeting each other from different points of view. For the Free I will continue to skate Benoit Richaud's program choreographed last year. "

So this season's programs are PGG influenced by Rachmaninoff, and The Phoenix influenced by Shostakovich https://youtu.be/FaHCdJYkWdE?t=300. It is interesting that the connection with Russian music continues from his hip-hop 2007/08 SP, arranged on Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake.

During the press conference after the open rehearsal of FOI 2019, Daisuke Takahashi announced plans for the season. He is planning to participate in one of the Challengers Series competitions, West Japan and Japan Nationals.
His aim this season will be making the podium at Nationals.

Notes on Dai's new SP at FOI.

Dai has air guitar choreo three times but they’re not like usual air guitar things, they are all one or two second lengths and woven into the choreography so well. Dai usually rolls his head, but this time, he nods more than roll.

The program is fully packed with very energetic and powerful movements and there’re no time to rest. It ends with a StSq, not with spins.

Lay-out: 3F 2A FSSp CCSp Cioctawー3Lz CCoSp StSq

Of course since he just started training, he is very behind and that's what he's showing at FOI. That 2A of course will become a 3A and the 3Lz with be the combo.
Earlier in the year had said he wanted to put a quad in the SP this season, but now he's saying he will use the same layout as last year, aiming at the exprepressive side instead. He plans to gain point on with the FS, which will be brushed up and completed after FOI.

As announced today on his official website Daisuke had to withdraw from Japan West Nationals due to injury.

As a silver medalist at last year's Nationals, Daisuke didn't have to qualify at this competition to partecipate in the 2019 Nationals. It was his choice to compete at the Western Nationals so the withdrawal doesn't change anything. He seems to be taking extra care in view of his last competition as a single at Nationals in December, where he wants to show gratutude to his fans.

He twisted his left ankle during jump practice yesterday. He was diagnosed an "ankle sprain and ankle ligament injury" and has to stay away from the ice for about a week.

Wishing him a speedy recovery and one last great skate as a single that he can be satisfied with at Nationals, in December, in front of his fans.

Translation of Dai's Message (don't worry, it works even if it says "security check required")

Thanks for keeping us updated @ostile17! I'm relieved to hear it's not a more severe injury, and I'd like to think that Dai is experienced enough not to push himself too hard too fast... (Fingers crossed!)

Ditto!

Daisuke's final performances as a single at Japan Nationals

Dai-chan, thanks for these final skates and for doing your best: your body was battered and the injuriues too many. Yet you went on to the final battle, bravely, as usual.

It's been a pleasure and a priviledge to have him back for two more years.
I love how the juniors never have enough of him. He sure has paved the way for men's single and for figure skating in Japan. Hopefully, health will allow him to open the doors for Japan's ice-dance as well.

The cheering from the crowd chanting "Dai-chan... Dai-chan" after the free was endless. The love of the people for this man never, ever stops!

I'm happy he could finally took that final bow in front of his people that he so needed and deserved.

And the flowers he surprised coach Nagamitsi with, thanking her for these 19 years and apologizing to her for being a bad student...

The commentator with broken voices thanking him and wishing him luck on his new journey in ice dance...

It was too much!!! :wuzrobbed:wuzrobbed:wuzrobbed
