We Could Be Heroes: Duhamel and Radford Uber Thread

I think being 7th will get under their skin and make them skate better. They're probably ticked off for getting edged by Iliushechkina/Moscovitch and will fight to remain Canada No. 1.
IMO returning to Muse is their best idea yet, because it was from the season where they were unbeatable (2014-15). Muse was edgy and creative for pair skating, and I liked it a lot. A stylish, mature program for a top pair.

Hi Mad for Skating.
Just popped into the thread(haven't been in it for a while)and read this post. Would just like to clarify as you kinda do D/R a disservice. D/R skated their worlds with Eric in excruciating pain and it would have been better for them as a team to withdraw but Eric has the heart of a lion and Megan is a tiger and they wouldn't kiss 3 spots for Canada away without one h*ell of a fight. They did it for Canada & CDN pairs and I am sure they were thrilled that I/M did their part so they ended up with 3 spots. As far as the placing.....Eric was holding back and not doing full extensions and they watered down their jumps to get through the program & both teams knew this and were holding their breath...Sometimes 7th place is a bigger accomplishment than gold. Kudos to them for this and I say this as a total I/M uber..I do really like and appreciate many teams but the heroic worlds put D/R firmly in my number 2 spot in my heart....As far as Skate Canada is concerned there was never any doubt they would put D/R in and they always use the 3 pairs allowed for that competition.
Megan's hair is fantastic.

They announced their SP music on May 24th: https://www.facebook.com/DuhamelRad...571387391480/1269494463099161/?type=3&theater
We are really excited to announce the newest addition to our team, John Kerr! He is working with us this week on the choreography for our Olympic Season short program, "With or Without you" by April Meservy.
This music really resonates with us and it's a song that we have had set aside for many years, waiting for the right moment to use it. We feel very passionately about this program. It is "us" with some new colour added to our skating, thanks to John and Julie.
We plan to debut our program at Patinage Quebec's summer provincials competition in August!

^^^Of course I don't mean any offense to Meagan and Eric, @barbarafan. I like them a lot and didn't mean it like that at all. Just meant that they will want to get back to the top this season.
I know you did not mean shade and Megan normally is so competitive she beats herself up for any mistake. It is just that worlds was different & after Eric's back went out (at some pt he couldn't move)the goal changed from sitting on top of the podium to being able to 1)finish the skate and 2)place high enough for 3 spots for Canada. So they met their goal & if they look back it will be....how did we manage to do that. This season they will both be back to being driven to be better than ever & to win and I wish the best for them.

What a way to end their stellar career with a SP like this one. The lyrics just speaks to what they've been through together; overcoming all odds. I absolutely LOVE this song. With the right choreography this is going to be one magnificent SP.

Megan and Eric, we wait for you.

I have to say that I while I don't like the song they've picked for the SP (i'm kind of sick of hearing overly breathy female singers doing covers of songs :blah: ) watching the clips of their SP I think it does work really well for them.

I still wish they'd used U2's original version. Still I hope they come back with two incredible programmes:respec:

Love their new short program and her hair cut! I will put $$ on them making the podium at the Olympics barring any injuries. They seem so motivated an re energized with their changes.

A million congratulations to Eric and Luis!

Also, have you all heard the news about the coaching change? Meagan and Eric are leaving Richard Gauthier to be trained by Bruno Marcotte and John Zimmerman. Not sure how that's going to work out but I trust they know what they're doing.

From the BBC:
In The Studio has been given exclusive access to Eric and Meagan’s training base in Montreal, Canada, to see how they create one of the two routines that they hope will see them reach the top of the podium in Pyeongchang.
From key decisions about music, to the choreography and the costumes, we are with them every step of the creative process. We hear from coaches and their support team about how they create a gold medal winning routine. Plus, we join Radford and Duhamel in training, on and off the ice.
Eric is unique amongst skaters. He is the only athlete in his sport to come out as gay whilst at the top of his career. Meanwhile, it is a family affair for Meagan, who is married to their Coach and is the sister-in-Law of their choreographer.

Listened to this. Good job, BBC!
(I'm not in UK but I assume that some Torvill/Dean stuff aside, it's not often figure skating gets this kind of coverage in the mainstream media?)

Btw, I just checked out Eric's twitter (haven't done that in a while) and OMG... :psoty:
I highly recommend clicking the following links: #malemodel #epichair

...oh, and now there's a new GS interview with Bruno Marcotte about the changes in coaching arrangements and their return to Muse etc.

There's been a lot of discussion on the boards about repeating programs and the presumable reasons behind repeating, so it's interesting to get an insider's perspective. One thing Bruno says -- I'm paraphrasing here -- is that when Meagan&Eric take to the ice and the Muse music starts to play, they KNOW and they FEEL they can win with this program (because, y'know, they have actually won with the Muse program), so that in itself is a good reason to use this particular piece again.

Today I was at the rink and they did a clean partial run through of the free skate, the throw quad is looking better than ever and the SBS lutzes too :kickass:
They have been skating really well this week and are in high spirits, I wouldn't be surprised if they win Skate America.
Also, they are incredibly nice people :respec:
