U.S. Sectionals (Eastern/Midwestern/Pacific Coast), Nov. 14-17, 2018

Poor Kulik she was so upset
That was sad seeing her jerk away from her mom, who was trying to console her. However, Liza's skating skills look top notch, and I'm hopeful she'll pull up in the standings after the free skate.

Alysa was awesome; great 3axel. The triple-triple didn't have much flow out of it. She has great performance skills.

William Hubbard. Mr. Cellophane. He might be auditioning for the role of Kurt Browning, and I'd hire him. <3
I love his skating.

(Wouldn't mind if he and Emma Coppess got together to make an awesome pairs team with great sbs jumps. And yes, I know that it's not how that works.)

I attended Easterns 5 years ago (Ashburn) and I think the cost was $10 or $15/day. Not a bad price for the skating you get to see. I remember Tim D, Grant H and Stephen Carriere challenging each other to land 3As and quads in their warmup - one would do one, then another would.... All in good fun, I think there were only 3 or 4 competitors in their event, so they all knew they were going to Nats.

Maybe Tim and Jimmy will put on a warmup show this year. :)
Pacific Coast Sectionals is $20 at the door or $45 all event. I did the all event, even though I could have saved the $5. Skating clubs need the help.

Just arrived at Midwest Sectionals in Ft Wayne. Watching Intermediate Dance. What fun. Unfortunately, my arthitic spine will not allow me to sit on bleachers, so I’m upstairs in observation area and cannot hear the music.

Wishing you minimal pain and requesting a blow by blow for the senior ladies Mids Hunger Games.

Awesome 3A by Ryan Dunk for 1st place in Easterns Junior Men SP! Excuse me while I cheer: :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

(Is it really that much trouble for NBC to keep the camera on for Senior Ladies warmups?)

Wow, Ilia Malinin scored 111.41 in his Easterns Novice FS just now and he celebrates in the kiss & cry with his parents. :) Back to Nationals after missing out last year.

ETA: Both Eric Prober and William Annis tried 3A again in their respective Novice free skates but today they received less credit/points on the jump.

Who are Ella Ales/Daniel Tsarik? They did quite well (by beating skaters in the isp)!

This is my yearly 'there's too many competitions at once and I can't follow all of them" complaint.

And using two rinks at Mids is NOT making it easier.

I know! I've got PACS Jr Ladies on the TV and have MIDS Sr Ladies ready to go on the laptop any minute, with EST Sr Ladies not long after that.

Awww, Haley Scott had 2 rough skates at Easterns Novice Ladies ... she's VERY talented and I hope she comes back strongly next year.

Nice to see Kimmie Meissner coaching with Priscilla Hill (Mia Eckels).

Happy for Amber Glenn! :) 66.75 for her Mids SP - 3F+3T(<?), 2A & 3Lo and lovely expression to Sara Bareilles' "Gravity."

ETA: Megan Wessenberg was skating at the same time at Easterns (63.35) - how did she do?

Amber Glenn skated a great short. Maybe iffy landing on her 3/3, but her loop was gorgeous and she gave a lot of feeling to the program. 66.75 and in 1st with 2 more skaters left.

EDIT: Ha @Sylvia and I posted at the same time. It was that good.

Of the not-as-familiar-to-me skaters at Midwesterns, I particularly enjoyed Madalyn Moree. Her jumps weren't really there today, but she had a very soft, lovely quality to her skating. It was very soothing to watch.

I opened the feed part way through Kalyan's SP. I really liked the woman in the purple dress skating to the Chopin-killed-by-rhythm-track -- Irina Gonzalez-Singer? -- who moved really well, and Maxine Marie Bautista's arms were really beautiful.

Rippon lutz, 3t/2t, 2a.

(I was watching Amber with sound and Megan without. )

Dumb question: why was there an Eastern sectional jr dance when there were only three and now two teams? I guess they all elected to compete?

I've no idea why each team really chose to compete, but I'd assume because the teams wanted the competition experience.

I think it's the case that they have to show up and at least take the ice in order to move on to Nationals, unless they have a bye.

I may have overlooked the information - but where are Shotaro Omori and Scot Dyer this season?
