I also don't subscribe to the idea that those in Ivy Leagues are always smarter or better than others.

Lot's of points I agree with here. The school you end up in can be determined by circumstance: family situations, money, quality of previous schooling, etc. I ran training programs for new hires on Wall Street for 20 years. They all came from the Ivy League or similar school (U. of Chicago, U. of California - Berkely). They mostly did well. But, it was the most motivated who did the best regardless of school.

I've posted a sampling of additional Nathan/Yale-related articles here: https://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/th...ng-yale-university.103782/page-5#post-5346237

Two completely different and random bits of info:

I am thinking this IG post from Alex Krasnozhon means that Marina and Oleg have done the choreo for his LP? In any event, he has been at Canton this week:

And Jordan Moeller apparently joined Kori Ade to give a training seminar in Mexico in April. The seminar was attended by Mexican skater Donovan Carrillo (I can't tell if he assisted as well). Jordan and Donovan, too much adorableness at one camp:saint:

It was mentioned back in March in this thread that Andrew Torgashev appears to have moved to Colorado Springs to train. Christy Krall was listed as his secondary coach for him before this season and here she is with Andrew, plus one of his choreographers, Scott Brown, at the PSA conference in Orlando (2nd one is a video clip of Andrew demonstrating footwork :inavoid:): https://www.instagram.com/p/BjNlju_lEaG/?taken-by=andrewtorg29

Emmanuel Savary also has relocated to Colorado Springs, according to my hearsay info and a mention of "Colorado" in this local PA show article last month.

Andrew Torgashev has so much potential i don't know what has happened to his jumps. If he ever gets them back he will be a threat for the top US guys especially if he starts landing quads too because he has everything else to be a champion.

And now he's announced the Cains are no longer coaching him due to "personal reasons."

Wow, I'm bummed, I thought the Cains were really good for Alex's development into a more well rounded skater.

And although I know English is not his first language, it seems like an odd way to phrase it ( rather than thanks to the Cains blah blah blah working with new coaches blah blah blah)

He just posted an Instagram story that says "Respect is for those who deserve it, not those who demand it." So it doesn't sound like an amicable parting. And Ashley Cain posted "You can't change someone who doesn't see an issue in their actions" as a story. Instagram war lol.

Wow, again, thanks for the info from the IG stories.

I love my wild jumper Alexei, but from the very little I can deduce, I don’t think this is a good move for him. The Cain’s don’t strike me as some sort of hard-driving taskmasters, although I have only superficial knowledge. And I don’t know the other team coaching him at all.

I just hope that Alex doesn’t divert from the artistry/performance chops that the Cains were trying to develop. A true puzzlement....

Well, first he had announced that he was adding Olga and Alexey to his coaching team (a couple/few weeks ago I think). Then later this. So maybe the Cains weren't open to him working with other coaches and he felt he needed more than just them? Who knows.

ETA: But also, I get they're her parents, but I don't think Ashley should be getting into this. She's 27 (ETA again - actually she's 22, so more understandable) - act more mature than the 18 yo guy. I mean, honestly, I don't really care about either of them posting that stuff, but still.

Ashley Cain is 22 - not 27. Whatever the circumstances of this split, it is understandable that she is protective of her parents, given her age.

And Google is my friend, it turns out that Alex K.’s new coaches work out of the same FSC as the Cains? Well, that’s awkward:cool:

I can understand why Alex wanted to stay, (one of the reasons I don’t follow him is that he acts like an 18 year old boy on his SM ... can you imagine that?:D) And he posts a lot about his girlfriend, who I’m glad he’s crazy for, but not enough to read posts about it, which aren’t meant for me anyway ;)

Still not seeing where Alex comes out the winner on this, but it’s early days and we will see....

I just heard that the figure skating scene there is incredibly :watch:, moreso than other popular training centers are. The people who told me that think it's because the area only started producing top skaters recently, leading to some good 'ol "I'm the one responsible for their success" "this rink/student/skating school is my territory" petty coach-swapping drama.
So maybe this is just some of the usual drama leaking out now that there are more skaters to make the drama more accessible outside the area.

That's probably it. Both of these coaching teams are not known for working with other coaching teams.

The Skating Club of Dallas is not located in one rink; skaters from various rinks throughout the metroplex can be members of the club. The other power club in Dallas is the Stars FSC, and it also has skaters from several different rinks. AFAIK the Cains are based primarily out of a rink in Euless and Olga and Aleksy are primarily based out of a different rink (in Plano, I think). Krasnozhon can continue to represent his old club without seeing his old coaches on a day-to-day basis.

And I don’t know the other team coaching him at all.

Olga Ganicheva and Aleksy Letov have had success primarily with female skaters. They coached Vivian Le when she was at the top of her game (multiple JGP medals), Emily Chan to her junior national title, and others to juvenile and intermediate titles. Hanna Harrell is one of their current up-and-coming skaters.

OMG. It gave me the male footballer named Ashley Cain and I managed to not see the picture. Oops, my bad.

whole post

thanks for the info, good to know there are multiple rinks involved. And I know as much about junior ladies as I do about quantum physics, but I have heard elsewhere that these ladies are known for skating skills and artistry, so I have some hope that Alexei will continue on that path:saint:

too bad that there was drama involved, however, not good for anyone:unsure:

I would wager the problem is more with the coaches involved and not that the Cains don't like additional coaches.

Just noting that the Cains seemed to be fine with Nina Mozer's not-insignificant involvement in Cain/LeDuc's training.

Indeed, but that's a bit different from co-coaching with your cross-town rivals. Both the Cains and Olga and Aleksy have their own camps if you will. I've never heard of another skater who is simultaneously taking lessons from the Cains and Olga/Aleksy, and I'm not at all surprised that this arrangement fell through.

USFS' SKATING magazine (June/July issue) includes features on the 2018 U.S. Junior ladies' and men's champions -- Camden Pulkinen's article is on pages 40-41: http://content.digitalpub.blue-soho...SKATING/html/index.html?page=42&origin=reader
He plans to start college this fall at the Univ. of Colorado at Colorado Springs and take a full course load, return to the JGP (his goal is to win the Final) and compete as a senior domestically.

:D it is not English. Based on how different in "content" and "PC-levels" his posts are on the IG for american audience and on VK for russians, he knows exactly what are the "dos" and "don'ts"... I hope the new coaching team works well, because Alexei recently said in a Russian article that he is capable of beating Nathan Chen.... :watch:
