Ross Miner's new SP is "Downtown" by Macklemore, according to this article by Christie Sausa on his guest appearance at the first Lake Placid Saturday Night Ice Show of the summer, July 8, in Lake Placid, NY: http://www.lakeplacidnews.com/page/content.detail/id/527106/Miner-entertains-the-crowd.html
While he was in Lake Placid for the Ice Show, Miner gave back to the sport by teaching a seminar to campers participating in the summer skating camp.
"My main (goal) is to keep things simple and repeatable to be more consistent in competition, and then at the end we did 'butt spins' because those are fun," Miner said. "We did some jumps, spins, and skating (skills) as well."
Last season did not go as planned for Miner, who placed fifth in the National Championships in Kansas City, but he has lofty goals for this year.
"I want to be on the Olympic team, that's the reason I'm skating," Miner said. "I would also love to come back to Lake Placid for Skate America, so that is another goal."
His next scheduled competition is the Glacier Falls Summer Classic in Anaheim, California July 27-30, "and possibly the Cranberry Open at the Yarmouth Ice Club in Kingston, Massachusetts Aug. 9-12."

ETA that this looks like a clip of Ross skating to "Downtown" in the Lake Placid show: https://www.instagram.com/p/BWTjJ7UAU21/

For those who want to take a look at Ross's new SP, here is my fancam of it from Colonial Open in May:

The video quality is not that great, but it gives an idea of the program.

I love that Ross is trying something different this year. :)

Yes! Keep fighting Ross! :encore:

and @Tavi was there (for SP and LP) and has most generously shared her observations in Jason Fan threads here and on other fora....:gallopin1

Had to get my earplugs in to get through the clips. Unbearable noises. Compared to Vincent's light and pleasant "Chasing Cars," Jason's music choice might just kill his chance for an Olympic berth.

Yeah, really bad music can be a complete distraction that should be avoided at all costs. That's too bad.

It's worth keeping in mind that they are also clips recorded with someone's phone with the music coming from the arena speakers. The sound quality isn't going to be great. I think it's a bit apples and oranges to Vincent's clip, which was an edited video with with a full stereo version of the song.

@Tavi can probably say more definitively how it sounds since she was there.

Oooh, gee, what a shock, that you didn't like it...

I was actually more disappointed that he was wearing the man-bun. Jason, this is a time period where your ponytail is literally appropriate!

I'm a trained professional musician with a picky ear. I sat through this performance live and had absolutely no problem with the music or the cuts. The rink's sound system was poor and the aural quality of these clips is as bad as the visual.

ETA @misskarne he was in his Piano costume including hair for both programs, so I wouldn't worry.

I trust that Jason and his team will take the necessary steps to clean up any rough musical edits or cuts if it does sound a bit dodgy. Plus, Jason and Co. will be sure to receive plenty of feedback.

Thank you for the updates, @Tavi.

This is not just poor sound quality. It's a boring background noise. Jason’s movements have no relation to the flat murmurs throughout. Anyone, even a 3-yr old, could skate to it. Don't know they can find a better cut if he is going to stick to the Hamilton.

You know, you seem to spend your waking life finding things to criticize about Jason and then voicing them pig headedly ad infinitum.

Is truth hurting you? Maybe Jason can take criticisms and improve.

Umm, no. Everyone's entitled to their opinions, and you are entitled to yours, however much I may disagree with them. But since you recently characterized Jason as "pretentious, self-indulgent and adulation-seeking," I do in fact wonder why you would bother to watch even one - much less three - clips of his "unbearable" new SP.

I'll wait until I can see a more full cut of the SP, but I do appreciate that there is some new kinds of movement in the program, which I think has been a bit lacking in some of the Jason/Rohene program's the last two seasons. I still recognize the pairing, but this at least looks more fresh, which I appreciate. (Not that I don't appreciate what they have done together, but I've hoped they'd branch out, or perhaps Jason might work with a different choreographer for a change of pace.)

Jason is doing Glacier Falls later this month as well, so we should have better videos on IN after that of both programs. :)

I don't like the SP right now (I like the combo in theory, but the execution is a bit shaky), but this is a really early competition, so I'll wait until I see the finished choreography with full jump content and a costume until I make a final judgement. I bet once everything's put together it'll be great.

I'm also having trouble with this music choice and cuts. There's not enough dynamic range/highs and lows, I find the constant vocals too "busy" (for lack of a better word), and it just feels like something more appropriate to an exhibition. While I'm sure Jason will interpret it about as well as it can be done by a skater, I'm not convinced it's all that great a vehicle for making the Olympic team. As for the program choreography/jumps, I'll reserve judgment until he's gotten another outing or two under his belt and tweaked this thing. (Disclaimer: I am a Jason lover.)

It sounds to me like whenever nearby people start screaming, the recorder picks that up and the music fades out and in.

I wouldn't worry too much right now. It is July and this was a test drive. It will undoubtedly look different by the GP, let alone Nationals.

My only concern re US men right now is Josh.

I have never taken summer or even early fall competitions too seriously. Most athletes are still getting their programs worked out. And a lot can happen in the six months between now and U.S. Nationals.

As much as I love Josh's skating, right now I've keeping my hopes with just seeing him in competition. Remember, one year ago, we all thought we would never see him on the ice - ever again.
