Trialeti Trophy 2025 (October 8-11), Tbilisi GEO

ChtWoz - nice 3tw to start - went downhill. Hand down for him on SBS 3T; both hands down for her on throw 3f; good synch on SBS spins; then he fell near the end of their step sequence - just tripped over his own feet really.

Wow, when is the last time we saw 70+ from C/H!? I hope this means Spencer is completely healthy and good things will happen for them this season.
The score was WELL DESERVED. It was a fantastic skate for them. Just really delivered in a way we haven't seen from them in awhile and I'm thrilled.

Well, so far it doesn't seem like anyone but Seniuk wants to actually medal. One of either Pezzetta or Lee will luck into a medal as a result.

That's actually not fair to Haein - she didn't have much of a lead over Mariia and she only lost the FS to her by 3 points, so she did want to medal, but didn't do quite enough. Anna, OTOH... Hot effing mess.

Gubanova is out for blood this season and I love it! Good for her.

Haein did well minus the loop. The quality of the stream was not great but do think she got hit unfairly hard with < while Mariia's calling was much more lenient (ISR's Albert Zaydman strikes again ). Think second and third could have gone either way since that 2 and change point gap between the two should have been narrower.

Yun has nice thrilling jumps and with more polish could be a GP medal contender.

Rinka's first 3A looked clean to me so that q was annoying as was the < on the lutz which looked ok or q at worst. Wish she skated with more expression but like this program for her. Would love for her to be a darkhorse contender for that third Japanese spot.

Pezzetta - another one with exciting jumps but needs work in other areas, including her tendency to double. With a steadier hand could be a dominant force in the next quad.

Sad for Starr - hope she can put this competition behind her and gear up for a great season.

Here for pairs, though this event is not looking as exciting as it did before all the withdrawals.

Erhard/Pellegris - Memoirs of a Geisha - bunchy green dress - it’s all a bit of a struggle, unfortunately. Some unattractive positions in the lifts and choreo sequence. 1ax sequence is the new SBS 2sal.

Roscher/Schuster - stream audio is playing up but costumes say Four Seasons Winter - nice throw 3sal, problems on the SBS jumps, more ugly lift positions. I like this tech box which indicates which elements are under review.

Danilova/Tsiba - Withdrew. Apparently his shoulder is playing up again, but this won’t count as one of their two events for the Dutch Olympic Committee’s extra criteria after all.

I was distracted and not paying super-close attention to ChtWoz - TES tracker looked messy.

Chtchetinina/Wozniak - Riverdance - in green, he likes a blousy shirt - audio still sounds like we’re at the bottom of the sea - Getting the job done kind of skate, but she looks thrilled to be skating this programme which makes me happy too. Wildly off axis on the throw flip, amazing she managed to save it to only a hand down rather than wiping out. Nearly kicked him in the head on the spin exit.

Beccari/Guarise - R&J - in beige, fancy beige, but beige - The lack of proper audio when I paid for the stream is really annoying, but I can’t complain too much about not having to listen to Kissing You yet again - oof, jumps are not happening today. Nice positions in the group 5 lift which felt in keeping with the character of the music. One of the few teams to end with the pair spin where it’s not a total damp squib. It just seems like they need more time and I’m not sure they’ve got it.

Kam/O’Shea - Inappropriate smiling from Danny to “some of them want to be abused”. More of the same from them: if you close your eyes during the jumps and throws their skating is lovely, but this has been going on for so long now that I just feel uncomfortable watching them.

KamO - nice 3tw to open; SBS 3t - down she goes; SBS 3s+A - hers was definitely <; throw 3f - people on X are saying she fell, but they only have 2.0 in deductions, so I think that whatever that was didn't count as a fall; BODS - fine; and a fall on the throw 3lo; yikes this is rough... nice first lift; quite lovely pairs combo spin that I don't hate; another excellent lift; this is such a strange music edit - emo/disaster movie covers of "Sweet Dreams" and "Everybody Wants to Rule the World"; choreo seq and final lift are also fine. I don't even know what to say or make of this program or the state of US pairs right now...

ETA - 176.32 for that mess is... Generous.

Well, what do you know... MetBeru have costumes I do not hate, lol.

Akopova/Rakhmanin - Amazing throws, of course. Splat from Karina on the 3 toe but otherwise another solid skate for them. Decent speed. Tragique hair. Hopefully they can maintain this momentum through the rest of the season.

AkoRakh - they're too new of a team for anyone to snipe at them over cultural appropriation. Nice 3tw; SBS 3t - down she goes; throw 3f - very nice; SBS 3s+2a+1a - decent (she singled the last A); first two lifts are solid; throw 3s - huge; FODS - grabs her blade and it's annoying but not as ugly as the positions Metelkina or Stellato-Dudek get into; choreo seq - fine; last lift - eh; pairs combo spin - why?

Well, this should beat KamO and move them up the GP Alternates list, but certainly not amazeballs.

This review is taking as long as the one that dropped Reitan/Majorov out of the Top 4 at Skate to Milano...

ETA - 188.85 - very good score!

Chan/Howe - Hot Ghost really is the ideal vehicle for Hot Ghost. SBS jumps came for Emily today, stream cut out, then back for hand down on the throw flip. Nice sit variation in the spin, which happily wasn’t the final element.

ChanHowe - SBS3s+2a - and down Emily goes; SBS 2t - planned?; I got nothing... my browser crashed. Per the TES tracker it looks like at least one throw was great - they only had one other red box after that but I couldn't tell you what element it was on. We'll see if their SP lead can keep them on the podium.

MiNiki - 3tw - under review, looked good; SBS 3t+2a+2a - looked decent; SBS 3s - his landing was sketchy & he put his free leg down fast; throw 3lo - very low landing but not under review; first lift - nice; BODS - fine; pairs combo spin - meh, but it's fine that they're burying it in the middle of the program; throw 2f - well, okay then... second lift nice flow; choreo seq - meh; last lift - not a fan of it - they don't have a lot of fluidity with her position changes.

Door is wide open for MetBeru to take this.
