Neither. There's conscious discrimination, and then there's extending benefits and privileges to certain groups of people without thought to the existence of others. Of course, there are also the semi-conscious practices of denial and minimization, lest the all-important mellow be harshed. It happens all the time in skating and skating fandom. I don't think I'll be watching the ceremony this year.

So, on that tedious note, at once tinny and leaden...
