The Shoma Uno fan thread - Go for número UNO!

It's a belated update but Shoma signed on a contract with MIZUNO to be their brand ambassador.
This page has some photos.
This page says they plan to launch their products of 'Shoma Uno model' before long.

Congrats to Shoma!

Nice ISU article and quotes from Shoma. Nothing really new that we have not already
read about but always nice to see an article in English about Shoma.

Shoma announced his new FS on his official site
Dancing on my own, by Calum Scott, choreographed by David Wilson

Here's Wilson's IG post which shows Shoma at his home rink in Chukyo Uni.

ETA:
Fuji TV's official account uploaded Team Japan members' interviews done during the national camp. Here is Shoma's video.

I don't listen to musics much so I have no clue about Callum Scott. Can you tell me why you can't stand?

The original pop song by Robyn is one of my favourite pop songs, I think the production on it is excellent, the sad words contrasted with the upbeat dance feel of the track is just perfection and i'm a huge fan of Robyn.

Whereas I find Callum Scott's voice a little annoying and the cover of Dancing On My Own came at a time where a bunch of pop artists were taking very well known upbeat, often dance tracks and turning them into melancholy ballads and it just felt like there too many of these songs knocking around that were really inferior to the originals. At the time we joked with our friends that someone would do It's a Small World (sad ballad remix) any day now and it would probably feature Callum Scott

 Thanks. I think I like the original ver. by Robyn better, too. I thought Callum Scott ver. was sorta boring typical male vocal for slow tempo programs.:p Shoma is coach-less this season and the season is coming too soon. Probably this music is not experimental and it must be easier for him to put things together. Wish his program itself will not be boring. ?

If there's anyone who could make me not hate a Callum Scott song it's Shoma

Not sure how I feel about the FS music choice but I want to know how Shoma will interpret it.

I feel the same. I was not at all familiar with the music in the first place, now that I have listened to
it hmmm...

He usually skates his programs at FOI which begins I believe on 8/30 but since he just recently got the FS choreography
I am not sure he will be ready. I am sure he will skate his SP and fingers crossed we will see the FS too.

Shoma's new costume for the SP to Great Spirit! :biggrinbo It's really gonna be an adventure season for him.

ETA: His comment about his new SP
"I want to challenge a new thing that I haven't tried yet and I want to discover my own skating rather than focusing on scores."

"I keep moving from the beginning to the end. This program is physically tough. I want to work hard on runthroughs so that I can skate this program easily by the end of this season."

"I wish I'll attract people with my expressions rather than with my jumps this season."

Here is a clip of his new SP.

This article says he plans to do the same jump content (4F-3T 4T 3A) for this season's SP as he did last season.

Here is a clip of his 2020 calendar launched this month.

And here is a making movie.

Thank you for all the updates. I hope the jump layout works for him better than the last season.
I am really grateful that he got rid off the Ed Hardy looking top he used for the previous exhibitions (I mean skating to the song with Lakota prayer lyrics with huge Jesus on the cross across his back...).

Re the new FS from an interview by a Japanese magazine:

"I had an idea to skate my new FS here (*Friends on Ice) which I made two weeks ago. But it is a program where speed is the key. I skate fast & non stop. If I skate it [in the show-size rink], my courses need to make sharp curves. So I gave up the idea thinking it's difficult and chose my SP instead.

Now Shoma is in ?? for Lambiel's camp.

ETA:
Via the IG stories it seems he is with his trainer who's worked with him for a few years.

Shoma's new SP to Great Spirit from Friends on Ice which was aired today.

Interview right after the performance:
I haven't done enough runthroughs yet. I want to show different side of my expressions with this program.

Shoma Uno model is launched from Mizuno (sports wear). ???✨

That is certainly a change of pace. I'm not sure how I feel about it. What about you? Happy to see him trying a new style in any case. Who choreographed it?
Spun Silver, it was originally an ex number choreographed by Bourne which he skated dozens times in shows from last season to this past summer. Bourne reformed it into a short program just before Friends on Ice.

Choreographic moves and transitions were watered down to have a room for jumps/stsq. Maybe he's still in the process of building up this program at this early stage of the season. I just want him to enjoy the process and will be satisfied with the journey of discovering his own skating by the end of this season. :)

Agreed. OT but is Mao boxing now? :D

Shoma was in a new costume for SP at Finlandia Trophy.

Seems Shoma is with Ms. Kobayashi from JSF, his manager, and his trainer. This twitter user said he had some sound troubles for his run through during the official practice and they all discussed about it together.

Copying my post from Japanese skating news thread in GSD:
I  at Jack Gallagher's tweet that he described as a 'scoop'.

(my rough translation)
It seems the reason why #Shoma Uno decided not to join #Eteri Tutberidze's team was all the members in their team have to use #Daniil Greikhengauz's choreography.

Shoma's brother Tatsuki (@jumokuno0108) immediately denied Gallagher's 'scoop' by quoting tweets from @ShomaUnofacebookpage.
https://twitter.com/jumokuno0108

(my rough translation)
tweet 1:
ShomaUnofacebookpage:Shoma has a lot of respect to Coach Tutberidze and her team. To begin with he originally planned just to join their camp. It's not the case that he changed his original plan or refused to join their team. It's the point that I wished you didn't misunderstood.
Tatsuki: Agreed.

tweet 2:
SUFP: (same tweet as tweet 1)
Tatsuki: Absolutely agreed.

tweet 3:
SUFP: This timing, with no source announced, you just wrote "It seems...". It's your suspicious speculation story with no clear source, right? I could be pleased if you had a solid report based on an actual interview and paid enough attention to leave Shoma just focused on his ongoing competition.
Tatsuki: Absolutely x 2 agreed.
___

Some articles were published (such as in Russia) based on Gallagher's tweet. I think Gallagher needs to prove that his 'scoop' is not a false rumor. If he can't, I wish he'll clear up his speculation. It'll be respectable to all of Shoma, Eteri, and Daniil. @japanice ?‍♂️

Congrats to Shoma for winning the Gold at Finlandia! Love both of his programs.

This is so cute. Shoma trying to leave the ice and he gets ambushed by the
Synchro Team.
