I believe Akiko Suzuki skated to the Riverdance Firedance a few seasons ago. It's one of my favorite pieces of music.

Satoko's been around so long, it's hard to forget that she's only 17. Last year was a breakthrough for her artistically. In my opinion; I felt that some of her previous season's programs were too mature for her -- not that she lacked skill, but that they were heavy for someone so effervescent.

I like the direction that her skating is heading in and hope her senior experience will help stave off that rising crop of Japanese and Russian juniors.

She does not have the best jumps but she does a very high base value with the jumps and is very consistent landing them all well, other than a few times some < issues. She could improve them more to gain more GOE but she still gains alot of points total from her jumps.

Her artistry deserves higher PCS than it has gotten so far, and maybe that will come as the world silver medalist now. I sure hope so. Gaining more speed and power though would help both her jumps and PCS.

She is the Sr lady who has the best short and long programs combined I've seen this season so far. I really love her musicality and exquisite skating. i wish she'll win Japan Nationals (if Mao is not in her top form ;)). It seems people don't think she'll make GP final, but I see her skating and hopefully winning a medal at the final. Stay healthy and keep progressing, Satoko!:cheer2:

Satoko is the skater I'm expecting strong skates this season. I love her both programs so much. I believe she is ready for starting her new season at US International Classic tomorrow. :cheer: Her skating order in SP is 10th, and Kanako 3rd.

Rutherford posted a cute photo of her & Kanako taken after draw. Thanx.

ETA:
You can see cute photos of Satoko here (page 6). It also has Hanyu, Kozuka, Mura, Mao, Rika and Wakaba in the order as well.

Miyahara spoke a few words on camera after her 1st place short program (63.48) - translation please? :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qZrDzO444cE
Her jumps were 3Lz+3T, 3F(!) & 2A.
Thanks for posting this link. She said she made a good start of this season in today's SP. She wishes she'll make progresses during this season and it will bring her higher and higher scores. She closed her interview with "Please keep rooting for me." (=Ouen yoroshiku onegai shimasu.)

I badly want to watch her SP video. :lynch:<--IE

Go Satoko, in FS you can kick asses of judges who gave a Worlds' silver medalist lower PCS than Angela Wang!:revenge: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Seriously. She still needs a little more power, but she is spot on with the nuances of the music, and her elements are beautifully precise as well. I love this SP, and her costume is also a huge improvement over last year's.

Thanks for sharing the video. I share the same comment that more power will serve the program well. But I do enjoy the details of choreography that she pays attention to every note and beat from the music. I actually watched this program during 'The Ice' tour in summer. I wasn't too impressed at that time, as one or two of the spins were not going with the music. But I think that could be an earlier version of the program and they did some adjustments later on. And Satoko was at her usual calmness in that, even she fell on her first intended combo element, she can still make it up and turn the 2nd jump into a 3-3.

Congratulations to Satoko for winning her first senior B competition of the season. I must admit I was temporarily blinded by the hot pink dress.
I liked the dress which she was in at THE ICE much better than today's one. I like the ending pose (looking up with her arms dropped aside) in THE ICE better than today's as well.

The dress that she was wearing at The Ice is perfect.

I love her skating and looooooove her SP. The best SP among ladies so far.
I like the LP very much, music and choreography. Obviously she needs more work on the LP because it's still early in the season and the LP normally does take more effort. However, I just don't get her low PCS. She deserves more.
Great job overall. Well done Satoko.

I love her long program, too. She is our tiny queen.

My question is, Why pink? Can we do powder blue or purple?
Re pink: Perhaps the theme of this program is "first love"? I agree with powder blue but maybe purple is non. The reason is I feel this program by Lori is already channeling Mao's Liiebestraum or Nocturn 2nd ver to some extent. Purple may let people remind of her too.

Well, her dress is still slightly awful, but her performance at JO was exquisite. Her jumps looked much more authoritative, and she seems to be carrying more speed over the ice to add to her effortless flow and sensitivity to the music. I am very excited for her upcoming season and think she will prove that this year's World Championship medal was in no way a fluke.

Congrats to Satoko for delivering a clean program at JO! Great redemption from US Classics. Perhaps the crowd knew Satoko upgraded her tech content from two 2A-3T to 3Lz-3T & 2A-3T, and they got excited when she actually nailed the 3Lz-3T. Her jumps didn't have good height but her jumps had more ice coverage than I expected based on how they looked on TV or youtube videos. I don't like the costume but I accept the flashing pink :drama: showed her bigger and her lines extended on the ice in person. It might be one of the reasons why she changed her costumes from the pretty soft pink dress to the awful unfortunate one. All in all I was impressed by her skating, and gave a standing ovation with lots of people in the stands. :cheer2:

Q: Your skating rocked the house. What do you feel now?
Satoko: I was more relaxed than I expected. I'm happy with deliveing a good skate.
Q: Your jumps were all clean. What's your impression?
Satoko: I was a bit cautious on every jump. I think I could have done the ending 2A with more determination. That said, I'm glad I did a clean skate including a 3-3 combo.
Q: Prior to today you said you wished people to pay attention to your facial expressions which project feelings of a first love. Do you think you did well?
Satoko: Especially, I'm happy I was able to smile during the choreo-seq.
Q: Ladies' field is getting fierce. What kind of skating do you wish to do from now?
Satoko: I'll deliver everything that I can do all the time. I wish I'll do my best skate at every competition.
Q: What are your biggest goals?
Satoko: I want to make GP final this season. And I wish to win a medal at Worlds again.
