One month ago I had the most amazing feeling skating in front of the whole world of figure skating. I’m so grateful that I had the chance to perform for all of you❤️❤️. And yesterday my classmates and I had the opportunity to pitch film and tv-series ideas to some of the leading production companies in the Nordic countries. How awesome is that?! To me, storytelling is life and life really can be kind of great 😃🎉🤩.
4 more photos from her Worlds SP by Pelle T. Nilsson for the Swedish Press Agency (love #3!): https://www.instagram.com/p/CMz5qkEJsh7/

Her profile page: http://skatesweden.se/akare/josefin-taljegard/
Excerpt:
Why do you like figure skating?
- What I like best is the programs, that you get to stand on a stage in front of so many people and get in touch with the audience and judges. It's a kick, even if you get nervous before you go. Of course, it is also fun to manage jumps you have not managed in a long time. I get to travel a lot in connection with figure skating, I really like that. Both to see other parts of the world and to meet other figure skaters.
What do you think your strengths in figure skating are?
- I definitely think that is the choreography. I have a special charisma and presence when I go. I am also physically strong, which allows me to cope with my hopes.
Q&A before Worlds: http://skatesweden.se/nyheter/mot-akarna-i-sveriges-vm-trupp/
Excerpts:
You stopped figure skating, but started again - tell me?
I started skating when I was three years old. But be on the ice before then. My sisters went and I went with them to the ice rink. Then I practically lived in the ice rink. But the last year of high school I had a lot of injuries and lost motivation.
But after about 1.5 years I longed to return, I felt I had more to give. It is such a special feeling to go out on the ice and to follow the music. I'm artistic and for me figure skating is a really wonderful way to express myself.
What do you do when you are not going figure skating (studies, leisure)?
I am training to be a screenwriter here in Gothenburg. I also have a degree in economics from the School of Business, Economics and Law and I have studied acting in NYC. I love learning new things! In the future, I plan to be able to benefit from all my experiences and I dream of being able to work with film. I also work extra as a coach in VFKK and choreographer, which I think is wonderful. I love working with children and young people and try to pass on my passion for expression on ice to them.

In light of some recent discussions, add Josefin to the list of educated, non-sheltered skaters ;) She's wonderful.

New interview by Absolute Skating - Josefin Taljegård: "I'm really excited about the next season" (May 24, 2021):
http://www.absoluteskating.com/index.php?cat=interviews&id=2021josefintaljegard
Excerpts:
I started skating when I was 3 years old, and now I am 25. I skated mostly in Sweden. Sometimes I go to the United States for the camps. I went a lot to Oberstdorf, Germany to work with Michael Huth and Stanick Jeannette among others. I trained there for seven summers from age 11 and the time spent there was very important for my career and development as a skater. Last fall I worked with Nikolai Morozov in Novogorsk (training center near Moscow – ed) for a few weeks. He is my choreographer, and he coaches me sometimes.
I want to work more on my jumps, but what I love most about skating is the performance, interpreting the music and choreography and just entertaining people.
I study to be a screenwriter, to write films and TV series. I guess films are my hobby, I like writing them, I like acting and I like watching them. So that's mainly my thing. But I don't have time for too many hobbies. I study not only a theory, but also have half a year of practice per year.

I was so happy that they actually held Worlds this year, because Europeans and the Swedish Nationals were cancelled, so I'm just happy that they did hold it. I haven't been to the World Championships before, so I have nothing to compare with, but I think it was fine without the audience here, because a lot of skaters and coaches were watching other skaters and really cheering on everyone. And it felt like a small figure skating party.

ISU feature “Late bloomer” Josefin Taljegard (SWE) blossoms brightly on the ice (June 7): https://isu.org/figure-skating/news...blossoms-brightly-on-the-ice?templateParam=15
Excerpts:
“After Worlds there were so many people writing to me that they felt I was inspiring them, because I was a little bit different in my programs and a little bit older. I just enjoy that really much to get that feedback it made me smile and cry,” she shared.
Taljegard studies acting and screenwriting and it helps her to bring a character to life on the ice.
“I think just having an interest in telling stories helps me. When I go out on the ice, I don't only focus on the jumps and the elements. I also focus on trying to provoke feelings in the people who are watching,” she noted. “Since I study acting and screenwriting, I think I have become more focused on it and also better at it. It's also good for myself when I try to focus on some other things because then I get less nervous.” Skating a program is like bringing a little movie, a mini-theatre performance on to the ice. “Of course, I can't speak and I have to do jumps and spins and everything. So I can't really tell a complete story or a complete movie. But I try to tell something and make people feel something and then I think they are drawn into the performance more,” Josefin added.

CONGRATULATIONS, JOSEFIN !!! (and Nikolaj Majorov) :cheer: :cheer2:

Today, Tuesday, SOK (Swedish Olympic Committee) announced that Josefin Taljegård and Nikolaj Majorov are ready for the Olympics in Beijing, which starts in February.

Both skaters were selected via the so-called future criterion. According to SOK, both skaters have raised their level in recent seasons.

- I am so fantastically happy to go to the Olympics. I started crying with relief and joy when I received the message earlier today. Now I look forward to showing what I can do. I have a lot more to give and it is incredibly fun to be part of something as positive and fun as the Olympics and it is great to be able to represent Sweden, says Josefin Taljegård.

I missed her skate at the recent Euros but I had watched her last year. I really liked her. I remember how well she skated and how happy she looked. Congrats on making the Olympic team Josefin! Good luck.

OH MY GOOOOD this is wonderful!!! (I hope Alexander Majorov is happy for his little brother and not too bitter!)
Well, Alexander went to the Olympics in 2014, so I'm sure he is thrilled the SOK is giving his brother the same opportunity. All of these skaters have worked so hard and earned this fantastic chance to show off to the world. 😀

Absolute Skating has transcribed some of her quotes from Europeans: https://www.instagram.com/p/CY47eo8oKTQ/

@josefintaljegard caught our attention during her home Worlds in Stockholm, her bright personality and "Joker" FS couldn't go unnoticed.
At #Euroskate2022Tallinn Josefin finished 18th after her SP, 15th in FS and 14th overall. "There were some things I felt I did well like the toe loops and the step sequence, especially the choreographic step sequence. I made some mistakes on the jumps and I know I can do so much better. But I had a great time with the audience. I was really in the moment and between all the jumps I could catch the audience’s eyes and I did have fun," she summarised her experience.

Step sequences are indeed her strong suit, the one from her new SP to "Ready Or Not" is probably one of the best step sequences of this season! We caught up with her in the mixed zone and asked about this program.

  • How did the idea of this SP come about?
  • We talked with Nikolai (Morozov, choreographer) about doing something like a modern dance or street dance. I found the music and I trained with the dance coach. I learned it mostly on the floor, before starting working on the ice. And I also watched a lot of YouTube videos.

  • With this program, especially with StSq, you could totally participate in the rhythm dance this season! I'm joking, of course, but did you see any of the RDs, was there any favourite?
  • I haven't watched that many. But I trained with @annabelle.morozov and @andr3y_bagin this summer, we share the same choreographer and they went in a similar direction with their RD, street dance and a bit of hip-hop.

  • Can you tell a bit more about your SP costume?
  • I wanted to have something that makes me feel strong and confident. And I really like having a one-piece costume. I also think that black colour suits this program well. I work with Kim Zandvoort (@kimzavi), she designed it and Galina Loutkova made it.

Although the initial requirement of the Swedish Olympic Committee was for her to obtain 198,77 points which she couldn't accomplish in the end, we were happy to learn that Josefin was selected to represent Sweden at #Beijing2022 based on so-called "future criteria".

I am so excited − and so surprised − to hear this news! I'm over the moon for Josefin.

I found the SOC's previous policy so sad and wrong-headed and just plain ignorant about world class skating. Top 8 was just a crazy standard to stick to. Top 20 or 24 in the world is a great achievement in and of itself. And denying Olympic ice of the fabulous Joker and Josefin's step sequences would have been a crying shame. Thank the gods the SOC came to their senses.
