My apologies for not posting about it last night. I had seen on my local news the other day about the strawberry moon. It was explained that the strawberry moon (full moon) would appear the day after the summer solstice begins. This won't happen again for another 18.6 years.

By chance, I actually saw it last night and it was beautiful. It started getting dark close to around 9 p.m. (central) here. I had forgotten about it at first, and then I remembered. I first looked through my double wide kitchen window and didn't see anything, but I was also in my wheelchair. So the next thing I did was to open the door under the carport and looked through the glass screen door.

I nearly fainted! It was big and did look strawberry in color with just a hint of orange in it. It was in the southeastern sky and low in the sky. This made up for me not being able to go outside and watch when we had the total solar eclipse.

The strawberry moon can also be seen tonight and tomorrow night.

I checked my local listings for the Miss Texas Pageant and it's showing that it will air tonight on my local KPXJ channel 21 (The CW) tonight from 8 - 10 p.m. central. Now I'm not sure that it's the same as the Miss Texas USA pageant because the description underneath video showed that the competition has already occurred. Maybe tonight is when it's just scheduled to air on TV.

I received a NASA email earlier with a YouTube video link attached. NASA has used the Hubble and James Web telescopes to make a 3D visualization of the Pillars of Creation Star that was made famous by the Hubble telescope in 1995. It is amazing!

Okay, I'm just posting because it isn't the Miss Texas USA Pageant I'm watching. The Miss Texas Pageant will determine who goes on to compete in the Miss America Pageant. It also includes the talent competition!

The next full Moon will be Thursday morning, Oct. 17, 2024, at 7:26 a.m. EDT. This will be late Wednesday night for the International Date Line West time zone and early Friday morning from New Zealand Time eastwards to the International Date Line. The Moon will appear full for about three days around this time, from Tuesday evening through Friday morning.

This will be the third of four consecutive supermoons (and the brightest by a tiny margin).

As the full Moon after the Harvest Moon, this will be the Hunter's Moon. The earliest written use of the term "Hunter's Moon" identified in the Oxford English Dictionary is from 1710. According to the Farmer's Almanac, with the leaves falling and the deer fattened, it is time to hunt. Since the harvesters have reaped the fields, hunters can easily see the animals that have come out to glean (and the foxes that have come out to prey upon them).

The Maine Farmer's Almanac first published Native American names for the full Moons in the 1930s. Over time these names have become widely known and used.

The launch will place 24 additional Starlink V2 Mini satellites into lower Earth orbit. It will be part of a constellation that will allow Internet service around the world, even in its most remote areas.

All the children look so glamorous I didn't even notice the background. I really love the fabrics from India & some of the African nations. When I was sewing for myself I wanted to use those beautiful fabrics esp the African ones for everyday/office attire but I was nervous about being accused of cultural appropriation. Of course I didn't know the term back then but the feeling was the same.
