Per the Shanghai Trophy announcement linked in the Chinese news thread - ChoBat, GuiFab and LopBri are invited - should be exciting!
To tell the truth I didn't expect ChoBat and GuiFab to encounter this early in the season (I didn’t expect SH Trophy to invite ChoBat and they’d actually come!)

But why? The judges gonna give it to ChoBat with their eyes closed. So meh....

Dance entries are pretty stacked at Denis Ten Memorial Challenge. I suppose everyone wants a high PB/SB before the GPs start.
I hope they don't surprise us all with a super strict panel after all those middle tier teams seeking SBs and lower ranked teams seeking CTES have forked out the :bribe::bribe::bribe:to get to Astana!

Other than the likely winners this is a pretty great challenger field. Lots of exciting young teams, plus a handful of OES making their (senior) debuts.

maybe this is where we get a "shocking" result - both the Czech teams and DavSmo have the potential to beat a possibly downward-trending FBSoer.

I’m here for some “shocking” results.

And I’m interested in seeing where Davis/Smolkin end up this season - without shiteous WISA programmes, but also no longer the top ranked team from their training group.

True, but the tradeoff for no longer being the top ranked team in their training group is they have the IAM power supporting them.

Nebelhorn entries were just updated - LajLag are out.

Also, Shanghai Trophy official entries announced - no ChoBat, instead the 3rd non-Chinese team will be FBSoer - which probably calls into question their participation at Denis Ten Memorial the same week.

Last season's national champions Olivia Oliver/Filip Bojanowski (POL) split up.

The expansion of the field may inadvertedly leads to new dynamics because every ISU member with an entry can nominate a judge. So there may end up with a more diverse panel of judges than usual. In 2021-22-23 it was a very "Eastern" panel. This time, Canada, USA, Australia and Korea may nominate a judge.
Tech Panel will be nominated by organizers. So, they can always select those who give Level 4 also to the Zamboni.

Meanwhile, tech panel this week
JGP: Shawn Rettstatt as Technical Controller, with Tomas Kika (Slovakia) and Joanna Budner (Poland) as specialists. As we could have expected based on the location and entries, the panel of judge is probably one of less "Europeans" we could have seen: only 2 Euro judges out of 7.

Lombardia: Leanna Caron (Canada) as controller. Francesca Fermi (Italy) and Maria Tumanovskaya Chaika (Ukraine) as technical specialists. The 2 tech specialists are the same of Lombardia Trophy 2023.

What did Gui/Fab do today? Yikes. I want a real Paso Doble, this is downright ridiculous.
LOL - I overslept and they were the first team I saw and I was sort of shocked awake by their RD. I don't even know what to think... Are they just conceding the world title before the season even begins?

Maybe this season doesn't count? The french teams here were so much more interesting, albeit lower-ranked. They all seem to have such soft bouncy knees.

Sorry, but were you really expecting "real Paso Doble" from a 50s to 70s dance party theme? This is really not about paso doble except a few formal steps. Nothing to do with Guignard/Fabbri specifically.
I was expecting a point of view, something coherent. I loved how the french teams interpreted the assignment.

I don't understand why Olivia and Tim are far from the leaders. I loved them. I found them just as cool as Fear and Gibson. I didn't find 2nd and 3rd place so great, I thought they sputtered in some areas and as for Zingas and Kolesnik they plagiarized last years program, so what gives. Meh....

I'd have both SmaDie and ZingKol closer to the Taschlers, points-wise. I haven't re-watched any of the programs except CarPon - I looked earlier for them on YT but didn't find any uploads and didn't want to go back and re-open the archived stream - maybe later, but I've been napping this afternoon and need more sleep before I wake up to watch the last couple groups of JGP men at 3:15am PT, lol.

Taschlers' comments after their RD. The costumes are going to change, since they didn't end up the way they wanted them to be. They also talk about their summer preparation and mental health issues they were dealing with.

Natalie Taschlerova's monologue after yesterday's RD about eating disorder and depression she has been dealing with. It's in Russian, here are some excerpts:
This summer, I went through a health crisis – primarily a psychological one. I experienced an eating disorder, and now I realize that it’s wrong to stay silent about it. It all started four years ago when my dad passed away. It was unbearable, and from the stress, I almost stopped eating. It’s not like I did it on purpose, it’s just that depression doesn’t choose where to hit you. My first issues with food began back then.
I started thinking that I should quit figure skating, and all sorts of thoughts flooded my mind. The whole season felt like a roller coaster – emotionally, I was all over the place. And this spring, I realized: enough, I can't go on like this, I’m tired of being constantly unhappy. The worst part is, I’m not the only one facing these feelings – I have many friends in figure skating who are going through the same thing, but they’re too ashamed to talk about it.
In our sport, people are used to seeing the shiny exterior: cute girls with festive makeup and beautiful costumes. And those girls are always smiling. No one suspects what’s hidden behind this façade.
Yes, I don’t fit the classic figure skater standard: I don’t weigh 40 kilograms, I’m not compact, and I’m not petite. But I’ve accepted that: this is who I am – I can’t be anyone else. I’ve started working with a psychologist who specializes in eating disorders. I feel much better, but most importantly, I’ve realized that health comes first.
For the first time in a long while, when someone asks me 'How are you?' I can honestly say 'Great' instead of looking away and mumbling 'Fine.' I wake up excited, thinking about the training ahead. It feels like I love figure skating again and I accept myself on the ice just as I am.

Thank you for posting this in here, Ka3sha. I've read the whole article and it's heartbreaking what she went through. I'm glad she is now doing better and that there are people around her supporting her. I've always been a fan of the Taschlers. Natalie is one of my favorite ice dancers and for me she is filling the empty spot that was created after Madison Hubbell retired. But if there is a choice of happiness and health vs skating, I do hope she will choose her own happiness and being healthy.
