I was looking for vids of Smart/Dieck's free from the 2023 Quebec Summer Championships but it does not look like they participated in the free dance portion of the event.

BTW, what country are Smart/Dieck representing?

On the list for Lombardia:

Guignard & Fabbri
Green & Parsons
Taschlerova & Taschler
Kazakova & Reviya
Mrazcova & Mrazek
Bratti & Somerville
Etc.

By far the best dance field I've seen listed for Lombardia. Fingers crossed that most of the teams stay on the list.

This early part of the season is bringing some exciting new pairings like Smart/Dieck. They’re opening to their RD is sizzling and very entertaining. While, I like the cohesiveness of using two Blondie songs, I almost feel like they should segue from “Call Me” to a song that lyrically has a phone/give me a call theme like the beginning of Midnight Star’s “Operator” and the “I’ll call you on the phone” verse and/or then the chorus of Poison’s “Talk Dirty to Me.”

Or Sade’s Smooth Operator!

All I am asking is for a rickroll, please

Don't like Lilah and Lewis's RD so far but it's August, I tell myself. I like them and want to see them improve. They're fun dancers, and really nice people.

I'm usually ok with Fear/Gibson's style of skating and the niche they found for themselves, but this Rocky FD is where I think they went too far with the gimmick, this is really bad IMO and the choregraphic step sequence is embarrassing. I wish they would have done something better because judging by past experience this will score well and right now it feels to me like this FD is everything that is wrong with skating nowadays.

My mom watching the Bangkok JGP:

"Black, black, black. They're watching music videos. That's where they're getting this. They need to look at a photo from the 80s. It's not black with color. It was color."

The 3rd warm-up, and she sees Yuen & Ma in their bright neon, fluffy skirt, and striped shirt:

"There you go! The 80s!"

F&G's Rocky FD makes their Lion King misstep look like it was magic, comparatively.

They remind me a bit of my (beloved) Finns, Rahkamo & Kokko, but even R&K went a more restrained route here and there...

I was half-asleep while watching it live this morning and need to go back and re-watch, but I'm so glad that my first, vague impressions are being echoed by most folks here on FSU. That program is just something awful - worse than the Gaga program last season. What was MF thinking?

“Let’s test how good my politicking is”. :skandal
If she can get them an European title and a World medal, I would say her politicking is pretty much nothing we have ever seen before. OTOH the judges let Tarasova/Morozov win Europeans with their terrible Candyman.

I just hope that G/F have amzing programmes this season or that the Taschlers have improved so much in the off-season that they are allowed to move closer to F/G.

In F/G defence, the RD music requirements this year play to their strengths I guess as par for their course.
But it doesn’t do them any favours in terms of stretching their boundaries or styles.
In a sense something that should play to their strengths gives them a disadvantage since I think almost everyone wants to see them try and/ or elevate their style.
So I think everything will seem same ole same ole.
I like them and I think they have improved immensely technically over the last two seasons and I feel are not given enough credit due to the fact they skate to very contemporary, current-ish and popular music. Which generally is not considered “artiste-tic””
But having said that, I think they aren’t as good as about 5 or 6 other teams all around despite how they are scoring.

As far as this program goes, I’m on the fence. I get what people are saying in their criticisms, but I don’t think it’s as bad as some people do.

But I also think it’s not as good as their previous work.

It’s riding a very thin thread to cheesy in parts.

Feels a bit juniorish honestly.

But they commit and it is fun.

But I can’t see it on the podium based on the program alone.
