I'm going to channel Randy Jackson back in his American Idol days... Green/Parsons are "aiight" - they're fine, they're decent, they might be brilliant sometimes, but I don't think they're extraordinarily remarkable. But, I also don't think most of the field (both ahead of and in their general placement range) are all that special - I can't think of more than 1 memorable program from most of those teams - Chock/Bates, Hawayek/Baker and Fear/Gibson being the notable exceptions with multiple memorable programs in the past quad.

More examples of Choreographic Assisted Jump were in Junior FDs on Jul 24 at Skate Canada's NextGen Team Competition Simulation:

- Jordyn Lewis/Noah McMillan (coached by Scott Moir) received +0.83 GOE.
He assisted her for the first two jump movements.
Then she assisted him for the third jump movement.

- Hailey Yu/Brendan Giang (from Vancouver Ice Dance ) received +3.04 GOE.
He assisted her for four jump movements.

Am I mistaken but wouldn't at least one move within Davis and White's Olympic free dance qualify for this maneuver?

 
Haven't this "choreographic assisted jumps" been happening forever? There are just now in some sort of sequence to be judged? I don't know what I was expecting but it wasn't this 🤷‍♀️
 
The two I viewed look to me like the overused transitions in & out of elements that we got for level 4s during the last quadrennium.

I didn't have any expectations. When I first read about it, I do remember thinking about all the short lifts that were in programs during the Tanith & Ben era. Anyway, we'll keep watching & see if someone comes up with something that looks original & cool & gets a thumbs up from the judges.

I'm assuming that what looks like "easy" or not-very-creative choreographic assisted jumps are in fact difficult to do for these developing teams. I'm expecting much more from the elite senior teams.

I wonder which London teams will be there? I think the teams have been in Montreal for like 3 weeks to prep for the season - I guess it’s a question of who feels ready/who needs to get out early for feedback/who won’t get as many internationals this year?

IAM London's Samantha Ritter/Daniel Brykalov represent Azerbaijan ... so my hunch would be that they will be in Lake Placid and coached by Madi Hubbell?
Ditto for IAM London's Leia Dozzi/Pietro Papetti representing Italy?
And maybe Madi will be coaching others there too?

@Sylvia documented 👍 that as of yesterday (Tue), only two non-U.S. entries (out of eight) were in the start order for the club competition's Senior RD.​
But as of today (Wed), a third non-U.S. entry of Dozzi/Papetti from Italy have been added as the ninth couple in the start order for the club competition.​

Can any non Canadian former skater be a coach at a Skate Canada Club just based on their former competitive results or do they need to go through all the same coaching courses etc as a Canadian citizen pursing a coaching career? I think I recall Scott posting a while ago where he was taking courses so wondered if non Canadians had to follow same process. It’s a lengthy process so maybe reason for delay if she had to follow same process

No idea, I'm in the U.S. My guess is they would need to fulfill any SC reqs since that is the policy of USFS....in USFS, every coach has to complete background check and continuing ed courses each year.

I would be shocked if anyone could be a coach just based on competitive results. Coaching is so different from being a competitor. My guess is that there is some basic level of classes she had to complete to begin to coach, and now she is in the process of continuing her coaching education to become an international level coach -- so she's at Lake Placid with more experienced coaches from which she continues to learn.
 
Skate Canada requires some level of certification as does USFS, which for Canada I understand is a process that, for full certification, includes coursework as well as things like submitting filmed coaching sessions for evaluation, but many other feds have fewer requirements. Madison probably wouldn't be able to attend Canadian or US Nationals as a primary coach for Sales/Wamsteeker or Carreira/Ponomarenko at this point in time, but is likely fine for some of the other teams at their international/national events.

Madison likely would be fine at U.S. Nats, as long as she fulfills the coaching compliance reqs...background check, liability insurance, USFS and PSA (coaches org) membership and required online CERs and SafeSport training.

A couple of their junior teams (Lewis/McMillan, Veillon/Brandys) competed at the NextGen event last weekend, in Waterloo. Scott was there coaching them.

I think that's everyone, except Chen/Sun and Fukase/Zhang (aka Cho), and I'm not sure about the status of those teams. Fukase/Zhang haven't competed in a while, and aren't on the entry list for the Quebec event this summer, so idk if they're still a team. But I don't think there was an announcement that they weren't, so they could still be training together at IAM. Rikako is currently in Montreal according to her IG. Then for Chen/Sun, I don't know if they'd been able to come back to Montreal (assuming they're continuing together).

It also seems like Holubtsova/Beliebrov are training at IAM in Montreal rn, based on social media. But there's been no announcement, and idk if it's a temporary or more long-term thing.
 
Not impressed with what I've seen of this "choreographic assisted jump" thus far. I'm not optimistic this is a worthwhile addition.

According to some Weibo posts Chen/Sun are listed as coaches in a local senimar so they may have retired.

Since it became an intenational event, there have never been an edition of Lake Placid International without Kristen Fraser from Azerbajian and Galit Chait from Israel among the technical specialists.
Obviously, the domestic Lake Placid Championships have Kristen Fraser from Livingston and Galit Chait from Little Falls calling.

This year they are joined by Bianka Szíjgyártó who recently passed the international examination. She skated for a couple of seasons with Szilárd Tóth (who is now an ISU judge) in mid 90s.
We have already some of the 2018 retirements going through the international examination this year (Alper Ucar, Anna Cappellini, Marien de la Asuncion).
